Jack's POV :After I had left home today, there was already something in my heart that was telling me that something was going to happen.Something that would indeed be a solution, but it would be such a solution that I would never want from my side. Or even if I was left with the only option to go for it, then also it would make me think twice… Or rather, plenty of times as I don't know how it would fit on the grounds of morality that I have never compromised even after being a person working for the Scavenger Organization.Still I went to Mortimer, ignoring all my doubts, as I wanted to meet him in person and tell everything that was going inside my head, not because I had started to trust him… but because no matter how horrible he was as a person… he was one of the greatest lawyers of the city. And when it was the matter concerning my daughters, I wasn't going to leave even a single percent to chance… I was ready to do everything it would have taken me.Thinking all of this, I tu
Megan's heart skipped a beat as she recognized the familiar face of her informant, and she asked;"Have you brought what I asked for?" The informant nodded, his expression unreadable. "I have everything you need," he replied cryptically. "But first, we need to talk."Megan felt a shiver run down her spine at the ominous tone in his voice, knowing that their conversation might even reveal more than she bargained for… and then, there was no going back for her… ever. Taking a deep breath, Megan followed the man as he led her to a secluded corner of the lobby, just to ensure that there was no one eavesdropping on their conversation. She braced herself for whatever revelations he had in store, her mind racing ahead to guess the possibilities. She listened carefully as the informant relayed the information he had gathered, each word sending a jolt of excitement through her, just at the thought of how she could take advantage of every possibility that he was opening for her… Piece by p
As the vase crashed to the floor, its shattering sound echoed through the house, followed by a soft gasp. Jack got up almost instantly, turning around just in time to see the silhouette of someone turning the corner and rushing down the hall… Amy.With a swift motion, he turned towards the hallway, and he instinctively moved to follow Amy. He exchanged a brief glance with his mother, the worry and confusion in his mind reflecting on Helen's face too. Stepping across the broken vase in the hallway, Jack quickened his pace, his footsteps following closely after Amy's; but somehow, she was much faster than him today. He reached Amy's doorstep just as she vanished into her room, the door swinging shut behind her. Without hesitation, Jack pushed the door open and stepped inside, his senses on high alert. His eyes scanned the room, searching for any signs of distress or danger. But as soon he crossed the threshold, Jack found himself frozen in place, his breath catching in his throat.
A big smile appeared on Amy's face as she heard that she wasn't going to be fired, it means that she doesn't have to be away from Anna, Dottie and Jack.Jack's name appeared in her imagination for a second, as she realized that she had taken Jack's name also in consideration along with Anna and Dottie. But she didn't have the time to think why she had done that, this is why she suddenly shrugged this thought off and dwell on the second thought that was bothering her.Even though now she was sure that she wasn't being kicked out from her job and was going to move with them, but then suddenly another thought appeared in her mind to haunt her.Like there was nothing going to be perfect in her, as just a few moments ago she was happy that she won't be getting fired from her main job, but then only she realized that it wasn't her main job and she has to complete her internship in order to pass her college course with the required credits. And even though Jack has already arranged the work
Amy was completely taken aback by Jack's unexpected question. Her mind was completely overwhelmed for a few moments, trying to make sense of the situation. Had she really heard what she had heard? Or the shock, surprise and happiness of knowing that she would not be fired after all, altered her brain to such an extent that she was practically hallucinating now…?Yes, she was definitely quite attached to Anna, Dottie and Helen… but not to the limit where she would believe that Jack would say something like this? But what if she had really heard everything he had said, correctly? Was this really happening… it was hard to believe that it was Jack, the same person who had been so adamant about setting clear boundaries between them, that he had told her off so harshly in the past… but now, he was suggesting something entirely different now?Her thoughts swirled in confusion as she tried to decipher Jack's intentions. Was he being serious, or was this some kind of joke? But why would he j
Amy's mind whirled with confusion and frustration as Jack's words echoed in her ears. She had just digested the shock of one of his statements, when he had abruptly handed her yet another one. She couldn't understand why he had mentioned Megan in the context of their conversation, or why it bothered her so deeply. Was it the implication that Megan held some sway over them, or was it simply the reminder of Jack's complicated personal life that grated on her nerves? As she struggled to make sense of her jumbled thoughts, Amy felt a surge of resentment building within her. Why had he assumed that Megan could simply "arrange everything," in this scenario without even bothering to wait for her answer?Despite her efforts to push aside her feelings of frustration, Amy couldn't shake a sense of annoyance at Jack's casual mention of Megan. But even as she grappled with her own conflicting emotions, Amy couldn't deny the lingering sense of disappointment that she felt. Had she hoped, even fo
Jack's mind was already filled to the brim with thoughts, all cursing himself as he thought about the recent events over and over again. For the first time, both the devil and angel in his heart were in agreement over something, and unfortunately for him, the verdict was that he was utterly stupid. How could he have been so careless, and so impulsive? He was scolding himself for this, especially because he used to take great pride in the fact that he used to keep his calm perfectly under pressure! And yet, the memory of his hasty actions burned like acid in his mind, and he couldn't help but curse himself again and again for his recklessness, for putting both himself and Amy in such an awkward position… How could he just offer her the proposal of being his fake fiance! He originally wanted to make her sit and have a reasonable discussion about it, but what actually happened was far from his expectations… His question of a fake engagement in exchange for money would naturally seem a
As Jack closed the door behind him, he expected a sense of relief to wash over him, knowing that he had finally found someone to play the role of his fake fiancée in Clemensdale. Why shouldn't he feel happy, after all, most of his objectives would be fulfilled by introducing her as a part of his family. But instead, he found himself pacing around his bedroom, his mind swirling with an unexpected array of thoughts and emotions. In this too, he was most concerned by not being able to shake the feeling of disbelief, that Amy had agreed to his proposal so easily. "Was it really that simple of an ask?" he wondered aloud, his voice barely above a whisper to himself.Jack ran a hand through his hair, trying to make sense of it all. "I thought anyone would have reservations about such an arrangement," he muttered to himself, his brow furrowed in confusion. "I thought she would hesitate again, or say a clear no when I asked her for the second time."But Amy's quick acceptance of his proposal
