I roughly wipe the sweat from my temples. My eyes were still sleepy from only a few hours of sleep until the bell rang at seven o'clock to wake the cadets up for training. It must have been more than an hour that we were out in the hot sun. After lunch, which was not very good, the cadets were told to assemble in the field. After all this time, it was not clear what the military was going to announce. Some cadets were already complaining as they fanned themselves. If we hadn't been given supernatural remedies like mandrake extract, we would have died. It seems like only yesterday I saw a goat eat a wolf, now I don't know what other miraculous things I'm going to see. "Joe? Are you okay?" asked Willem from behind me. "I'm fine. Why?" I asked back. I had cried, but only for a while. Frans calmed me down and listened to my story. Willem looked in all directions. "Well, maybe you shouldn't travel alone from now on, considering the possibilities of what they can do," he emphasized the word 'they'. I followed his gaze to a disorderly group line. The people there were busy shouting and laughing at each other, they were Max's colleagues, a bunch of brats.
