As Thomas Bolton's convoy pulled up into the parking lot of the hospital, Thomas' phone rang on his leg and he looked at it - it was the cop he had called to go pick up the hair strand.

"Have you picked it up now?" He asked as soon as he took the phone to his ear.

"Yes," the cop replied gruffly.

"Good." Thomas said then asked "How long is it going to take before the results are ready?"

"At least 4-5 days," the cop responded nonchalantly and Thomas almost snapped at him. The hell he would wait for '4-5 days'!!!! He wanted those results as soon as possible.

"That's too far. I want them sooner," Thomas said.

"Well, I'll try my best to get them for you in three days, but you're going to have to double my fee." the cop said with the same nonchalance.

"I''ll triple it if you get me the damned results in two days," Thomas said and hung up without waiting for a reply. He knew the cop would get him the results soon because that was what dirty cops like himself did; they sang for t

In a small countryside village, Victor was sitted in front of his TV in a little cottage. He quietly listened to the news about Richard's shooting and watched the accompanying video of the shooting displayed by the news channel, in the same chair he had sat down and listened to the news of Chris Bolton's kidnap about two weeks back. Things certainly didn't look so good. Whoever had shot Richard had the worst possible timing. Victor knew Thomas Bolton well enough to be worried that the raging lunatic might plan to do something really dangerous to Michael Bolton and his young son and Victor wondered if it was finally the moment himself and Michael had spoken about all those years ago? Victor could still clearly remember and give an accurate account of that day and the events that had led down to it. He saw himself at that moment, in his minds eye as he had been about 29 years ago; a raging teenager full of so much anger, spite and hatred and begging a gang to allow him in as their membe

Victor got up from his chair and headed into his kitchen to grab a glass of whiskey and then headed back through his living room and out the door to sit on the rocking chair in his front porch. He was still deep in his walk down memory lane. He could remember how hard he had fought not to laughter when his seemingly obnoxious attacker had told him the gang he had been desperately trying to join, had only given him that test with the hopes that he'd get killed. Where had the wacko gotten such a ridiculous idea from? Victor had immediately told him he was saying nonsense and had dared him to release from his cuffs if he wasn't scared, but his attacker had only laughed at that and told Victor he had to be new to the area to actually accept a task of trying to kill him because every gang in the area knew better than to ever try to start a fight with him or his brother as their two man gang was the most dreaded. He must have sensed that Victor still thought he was saying nonsense because

"I'm telling you ladies, something about this affair of Richard being shot definitely sets off warning alarms in my guts," Chris Bolton said as he slid of his stool at the kitchen counter in the Kitchen of the Bolton's Mansion where himself and the three ladies had agreed to meet up the next day. He walked up to the freezer and retrieved a bucket of ice-cream then he grabbed four spoons and headed back to his stool. He passed the spoons around and Rose and Sarah calmly accepted theirs but Monica declined taking hers with a wave of her right hand and a tight lipped smile. No one seemed to see it as odd though because the conversation went on smoothly."I don't know," Sarah said with her eyes squinted as if she was trying hard to focus on getting her thoughts together. "I do get what you mean about the shooting being off. I mean, anyone who watched the video could tell that, whoever the shooter was, they had most certainly not shot at Richard with killing him being their end game," she

Thomas Bolton was sitted in his study and going through his finances with his Chief Financial Officer. He knew he wasn't really feeling up to it but he had called him in deliberately. He wanted to keep himself looking busy and unaffected by Richard's condition because he was Thomas freaking Bolton and he would never let anyone have even the smallest idea about how he was feeling. To him showing emotions was a weakness because it gave your enemy an advantage over you and you could never really know who your enemy was so it was just best to not let anyone in on your emotions. Yes, Richard was growing on him and he had began to gradually develop a little soft spot for him and what had happened to him had affected him a little but he wasn't going to let it show, not even the brat would know. He would just strictly go about business as usual and put on an unaffected front for all and so far, even he knew he was putting on a really good show and doing a really good job of it. He went on put

Thomas Bolton ended a call and hurried out of his lounge and headed straight to his room where he hurriedly changed out of his indoor clothes of a grey T-shirt, a pair or black sweatpants and a black robe and into a pair of black pants, a black dress and wjdb a navy blue blazer then he hurriedly attended to his hair and put on some perfume and hurriedly walked to his door where he paused for a moment to try to compose himself and school his features into their normal state of not giving away his emotions. When he was sure he had everything under control he calmly opened the door and walked out calmly like he wasn't in any sort of hurry whatsoever. I'm the same manner he walked downstairs and out the door and straight into his vehicle which was waiting in the middle of six escort vehicles then the convoy pulled out of the driveway and joined the stream of vehicles on the road. It had been four days since Richard had been shot and Thomas had just been called almost an hour ago with the

"I think i'm going to turn in for the night," Monica said as she slid out of her stool at the kitchen counter of the Bolton's Mansion. She had adjusted since her last blowout but she was still somewhat withdrawn. Her other three companions wished her a goodnight and watched her departing from as she walked away but Chris' gaze lingered longer and Rose and Sarah exchanged a look and small smiles."I still haven't gotten used to seeing you here at night," Chris said to Sarah when he eventually turned back to face the ladies still sitted at the counter. "I'm surprised you could get away from all your responsibilities, Ms. Gang Leader," he said."For the thousandth time Chris Bolton, the gang was only so serious when killing you was my aim, I mean, why not? Do you know how powerful your dad is? I needed a lot to go up against that!" Sarah said "Yes, my men are still loyal to me and I still have to show an iron fist every now and then but it's really not that deep, at least not anymore.

ABOUT AN HOUR AGO...Monica walked away from the kitchen quietly and feeling a little gloom. She hadn't really been ready to go to bed, but since her little outburst the other day she had always felt embarrassed around the others and had always looked for ways and excuses to escape hanging out with the group or being around them for too long. Yes, she had apologized to them and they had said it was fine and they had even done their best to let her see that all was cool but she still felt so silly and embarrassed around them because of the real reason behind her outburst. Yes, Chris might be clueless about the real reason behind her outburst but the other two ladies were most likely not. If Sarah had walked in on Chris' call to Mabel the other day, then she certainly was aware and if Sarah was, the chances of Rose being aware were way above fifty. Although neither of them had mentioned it or let on that they knew, she still felt stupid about it. She bit her lip and slapped her forehead

In the safe room of the Bolton's Mansion, Chris was on his knees in between the bodies of Rose and his father. He stayed still as he felt numb and stared at nothing in particular. He could sense the commotion around him but he couldn't really register it so he just stayed on his knees and did nothing as he allowed words pass around him. Slowly, he turned to look at Rose and watched the very slow and barely noticeable rise and fall of her chest, then he turned to look at his father on his other side, he was also breathing but with much difficulty. Chris looked down at his hands and found them bloodied and shaky then he looked up and out of the window. No one could say for sure how long he had been that way before the paramedics had come in but somehow their presence seemed to have been what he had needed to snap out of whatever state he had been in. As they appeared beside Rose and Michael Bolton to get started on their treatment and move their bodies, Chris jerked up and began to shoo

Thomas Bolton grabbed a dagger and lunged at Richard with a scream and just as he was about to drive it straight through his heart, Richard quickly sidestepped and the dagger grazed his arm slightly and Thomas fell to the ground. As he struggled to get to his feet, he heard a gunshot and felt a pain sear through his left foot. Bloody bastards!! Getting shot in the foot again!! He felt two pair of arms grab him and place him firmly back on his sit. As he sat, Chris grabbed a pistol from the weapons strap on the waist of one of the guards and pointed it at Thomas' head and cocked it and Thomas smiled at him."I don't think your pretty woman's going to like you very much if you kill me now." Thomas said with a smirk. "I mean, I haven't gotten around to telling her about her lost sibling and believe me, she'd really like to know that," he finished and Chris lowered the gun. "What? You know my siblings whereabouts?" Sarah asked and looked at him with teary eyes. "Of course I do. I kep

  • CHAPTER 181

Thomas Bolton stared at Richard then looked at the gun in his hand. He felt betrayed. Just when he had shown a little trust in him, he had taken advantage of that trust and stabbed him in the freaking back. He had sold him to his enemies and for how much, he wondered. He looked back up at Richard and could see that his eyes were emotionless, almost like he had sold his soul or something. Thomas wondered if that change had been present in him all week and he had just been too oblivious to notice it or if Richard had actually done a very good job of masking it. What had turned him that way? He turned to look at Chris Bolton and his company. He recognized both ladies well enough. He had held one hostage amd the other, he had killed her father. Well, Chris Bolton had certainly picked his crew right. Between all three of them who seemed to be head of the group, he had certainly caused them a lot of pain and hurt. He tore his eyes away from the three of them and looked at Victor. Now that o

  • CHAPTER 180

Chris Bolton was sitted in Michael Bolton's study with his laptop open in front of him but his mind was occupied. He is was in love with Sarah but couldn't confess it and he knew it wasn't because he was scared of being rejected by her or because he was worried about his father not accepting it. The reason he was worried about expressing his feelings for Sarah was because of Monica. He couldn't deny the fact that they had both had some tension between them when they had initially met. He had most certainly had something for her and he felt like she she had also had a thing for him, but he wasn't sure if she still had it. He has tried not to acknowledge his feelings for Sarah for a long time because he had felt like they made him disloyal to Monica, especially if she still had those feelings. What was he going to do? Was he supposed to just ask her? Wasn't that___? His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a knock on the door and just as he opened his mouth to call for whoever it w

  • CHAPTER 179

Richard aimed his gun at Luke Freeman and cocked it. Like his client Thomas Bolton, the bastard didn't deserve to live. He deserved to die and Richard without a doubt had absolutely no issue in giving him what he deserved. Besides, Thomas Bolton had betrayed him and there was no saying that the smart lawyer wouldn't betray him too. After all, it was just that afternoon that Thomas Bolton had reminded him about the possibility and risks of conversations being recorded. There was no saying that the sneaky smart ass hadn't recorded their conversation with plans to have him reported and arrested. Who knew? He really couldn't trust anyone. There was no saying that Luke Freeman wouldn't betray him because when all was said and done, Richard didn't actually have a single soul in the universe he could rely on to look out for him. He thought he had totally gotten rid of his little hopes and expectations of good from Thomas Bolton but apparently he hadn't because he could feel a tear trickle do

  • CHAPTER 178

Luke Freeman wordlessly took the sit Richard had motioned him into with the gun in his hand. Wasn't he the adopted son of Thomas Bolton? What did he want with him? Had they had an issue earlier in the day? Why was he in his house at such a time of the night and with a freaking handgun in his damned hand? What could he do? Should he try to set off an alarm or something? What warning signal could he send his neighbours that would alert them that he was in danger? His neighbourhood was actually quite a quiet one full of people who minded their business so the chances of anyone actually noticing whatever signal he gave was a pretty slim one and the chances of anyone noticing that signal and actually acting on it was next to non-existent. He was certainly toasted. The young man with handgun which he was freely brandishing at him, could kill him and no one would know. Why on Earth had he given in to his tiredness and not listened to the voice that had told him to stay back at the office and

  • CHAPTER 177

Richard remained sitted in his position as he replayed the conversation he had just listened to in his head. Well. Well. Well. It seemed like sneakily getting a voice recording of Thomas Bolton and Luke Freeman's conversation had most certainly paid off. So Thomas Bolton wanted to make some changes and adjustments to his will now, did he? That had without a doubt been the most - if not the only - important and interesting part of their conversation for Richard. He had to give it to his sixth senses for making him listen to that voice recording till the end of Thomas Bolton and Luke Freeman's conversation. What were the present contents of Thomas Bolton's will? What "changes and adjustments" could he possibly want to make? As far as Richard could tell he was the only heir of the old and insufferable bastard. Yes he was adopted but he was quite sure he was the only heir of Thomas Bolton. Didn't that naturally mean he was supposed to be the sole inheritor to all of the annoying geezer's

  • CHAPTER 176

It had been almost three hours since that annoying brat, Luke Freeman had appeared after being sent straight from hell to disturb Richard's peaceful afternoon and after haven restlessly and absent-mindedly seen a movie, Richard was itching to go get his phone and listen to the voice recording of Thomas Bolton and Luke Freeman's conversation. He had instructed a maid to immediately inform him about Luke Freeman's departure but she still hadn't shown up. What on Earth could the two men be talking about for so long anyways? As his mind raced with the endless possibilities about the contents of their conversation, he heard a faint knock on his door and he bolted out of his bed and rushed at the door. He opened the door and as soon as he saw the maid standing there he rushed past her without waiting for her to say a word. He headed straight for Thomas Bolton's lounge and he tried his best not to run and only appear like someone who had urgent and important matters to deal with. He soon go

  • CHAPTER 175

Chris Bolton stood at the entrance of Sarah's room as the realization that he was in love with her hit him. He had tried to ignore these feelings because they had been trying to get attention at a wrong time, but he couldn't ignore them anymore, not after seeing her sitted on her bed with her hair piled on top of her head in a messy bun and her upper body covered in a big sweater and that innocently welcoming smile on her face. He couldn't say for sure how long he had felt that way but he could say for sure that his feelings were very much there and alive. They actually explained a lot. They explained why he had recently began to feel so drawn to Sarah. He had tried to ignore and not acknowledge them but that hadn't sent them away. If anything, it seemed like ignoring and not acknowledging them had probably only helped them quietly grow stronger. He stood at the door and stared at her even as his discovery opened up a dam of thoughts in his head. Why had he been doing his best to igno

  • CHAPTER 174

In Thomas Bolton's lounge, Richard continued to take in the stranger who had walked into the lounge a little under a minute ago. From his rectangular rimless glasses to his suit pants and shirt and down to the black attorneys bag he was carrying, he certainly wasn't their usual type of company and Richard wasn't sure how he felt about him. While he didn't seem to spell danger, Richard also didn't care for his presence in the lounge as he had never really been a fan of strangers, especially when they did what he considered to be an invasion of his comfort space and invade his comfort space, this stranger was. Technically it was Thomas Bolton's but who cared? Thomas had come to accept Richard's constant presence in the lounge and Richard had definitely been enjoying it but at that moment, the stranger was taking away his comfort and Richard didn't like it one bit. He looked at him with his left eyebrow raised but the stranger just kept smiling at him. What was he? A robot? A raised eyeb
