Chapter 5; Their Fate
.
Loctrum Clan - Palace of Arctic
The Palace of Arctic was dark and filled with eerie silence. The crimson sun couldn't penetrate it. Its jagged towers reached toward the sky, clawing at the heavens like the talons of a beast. The outer walls were adorned with dark runes and ancient symbols.
Skulls of ancient creatures mounted on the walls seemed to follow every movement with their hollow eye sockets. Obsidian statues of demonic beings stood guard, their expressions frozen in eternal snarls.
At the end of this palace sat Arctic, exuding an aura of supremacy. His eyes were dark, matching his skin, which was marked with dark tattoos snaking around his muscular figure. His hands, adorned with rings of dark stone, rested on the armrests of his throne, fingers tapping rhythmically.
The throne itself was a monstrosity of blackened steel and bone, adorned with dark tattoos and glowing sigils that pulsed with life. The high back of the throne was crowned with the horns of a great beast, and the armrests were shaped like dragon claws.
Seated before him were four of his most trusted chiefs. They were discussing a matter when the door suddenly burst open, revealing a Reaper.
He walked straight to his master and bowed immediately.
"My lord, your loyal servants bring news to your palace."
"We are already aware. The soldiers have returned with the captives. They will be advancing toward the palace soon," said Ugarth, one of the chiefs present in the palace.
The Reaper rose and almost immediately went back to his knees. "My lord, the captives consist of ten Elves and one unidentified being."
"Unidentified?" another chief asked rhetorically.
"His identity remains unknown to me," said the Reaper.
There was silence for a few minutes before Lord Arctic finally spoke.
"Rise. Go lead them to the tower," he commanded, his voice deep and authoritative.
The Reaper stood up immediately and started walking out of the palace. He suddenly stopped at the exit and bowed again.
"My lord, I sense the magical essence of a noble," he announced, forcing Lord Arctic to rise to his feet. The chiefs also rose at once.
"It's true. I can feel it," Lord Arctic said, inhaling deeply. "Let's go welcome the Elf Princess," he said to his chiefs. Without hesitation, he started heading out of the palace, sweeping the floor with his dark cloak.

The gate of the clan opened, revealing the Reapers with their captives. Lady Rose was led through another route by two Reapers. She was still blindfolded but could see her path—one of the elves' abilities.
The eleventh captive was led through the front route, which was crowded with the natives of the Loctrum clan. They gave way for the Reapers and their captives but not without throwing stones at the prisoners.
They cursed and wailed while throwing heavy stones, making it difficult for the prisoners to move forward with the log of wood over their heads.
One of the stones hit Eleven in his manhood, causing him to fall to his knees and disrupt the line.
"Rise up, Black Boy. Rise before a whip…" The tenth captive couldn't complete his statement as a whip descended on Eleven's back.
"Aargh!" he cried out, his voice resounding in the arena, silencing everyone.
The villagers and the Reapers paused. One of the Reapers tried to whip him again but was stopped by his comrade.
Everyone watched as Eleven struggled to get on his feet with the log of wood still on his shoulder. Every part of his body was marked and dripping with blood. Black marks complemented his dark skin.
It took more than an hour before they reached the tower, an open square. They were released from the log, which was taken into the palace, and forced to kneel horizontally before the tower.
They were not alone; the Reapers were present at every corner, and the high-ranked villagers were also present.
The Loctrum clan was not vast, with a population of 300 citizens. But when it came to military power, it remained hidden, known only to their clan leader, Lord Arctic. Only he knew the number of Reapers under his control.
Speaking of the devil, Lord Arctic appeared on the tower, dark magical essence leaking from his body.
Everyone in the vicinity bowed immediately, including the Reapers.
The captives were choked by his magical essence, but Eleven's consciousness was far from this province.
The pain he felt was unbearable, and the sun was also not helping matters. It burned every part of his body.
Suddenly, Eleven looked up. At that moment, Rose was dragged forward by one of the Reapers until she stood beside Lord Arctic. The cloth covering her eyes vanished, and she saw her kindred kneeling before the tower, awaiting their fate.
"What should be their fate, Lady Rose, Princess of the Elvarin Kingdom?" The scary voice of Lord Arctic sent chills down her spine as a tear rolled from her blue eyes.
The atmosphere was thick with tension as the crowd waited for her response. The captives' breaths were shallow, their eyes wide with fear and resignation.
Rose's voice trembled, but she managed to speak, "Please, spare their lives. They are innocent."
Lord Arctic's laugh echoed throughout the courtyard, a deep, sinister sound that made everyone's blood run cold. "Innocent? These creatures are nothing but pawns in a greater game between your Father and I. Their lives are meaningless."
"Please," Rose pleaded, her voice breaking. "They have done nothing to deserve this."
Arctic's eyes narrowed. "You plead for mercy, Princess, yet you forget your place. You are a captive here, just like them. Your pleas mean nothing."
He turned to address the Reapers. "Take them to the dungeon. I’ll decide their fate in due time."
The Reapers moved to comply, dragging the prisoners to their feet. Eleven struggled to stand, his body weak and battered, but the fear of another whip strike spurred him on.
Rose watched helplessly as her fellow captives were led away. She felt a profound sense of despair wash over her.
As Eleven was pulled along with the others, he caught a glimpse of Rose. Their eyes met, and in that brief moment, everything seemed to pause. She recalled how he had released her from the chains, the taste of his lips on hers and hot tears streamed down her cheeks.
She already knew what their fate was. It was nothing but a death penalty.

Chapter 6 - The Undead Vagnar The village square of the Loctrum clan was an expansive arena encircled by tall, weathered stone walls, remnants of an ancient battleground. The ground was hard-packed dirt, marred by countless clashes and soaked with the memories of past combats. In the center stood an enormous, ornate hourglass, its sands dark and foreboding, signaling the ancient timer that would dictate the captives' fates. To the side, an array of primitive yet lethal weapons lay on a wooden rack: swords, spears, axes, and daggers, each glinting ominously under the fading light of the crimson sky.Almost all the villagers were present, apart from the slaves and the Reapers who were assigned duties. The chief was present, and even Lord Arctic had not been left behind. Seated next to him was Rose, whose heart was in her mouth. The fear for her people put her in despair.Everyone's focus suddenly turned to the clanging of the gate, and soon enough, the Reapers began leading the captive
Chapter 7: Kill or Get Killed “Vagnar, you don’t have to do this,” said the tenth Elf, trying to negotiate with his opponent after discovering his identity.“I can't stop, Brakor. I've been ordered to kill you all,” Vagnar replied and launched at Brakor. He had successfully eliminated six of the Elves. He swayed his gaze, which Brakor dodged by moving backward, but the step he took was uncalculated, causing him to lose balance and fall hard to the ground.“Elven magic: Sigitta Firannea!” one of the Elves chanted, and a fiery arrow appeared in the air. He directed it towards Vagnar almost immediately.Vagnar noticed this impending attack and quickly turned away from Brakor, catching the fiery arrow with one hand. He sent it back to the caster, and it sank directly into his chest. This was the time Brakor needed to get on his feet. He clasped his hands together, and the force pushed Vagnar backward, causing him to crash on his butt.Brakor charged at Vagnar, mustering all his strength
Chapter 8: Who is Arctic? LOCTRUM CAVE The banging sounds of metal rent the air as Eleven, along with other laborers, hammered the cave walls, searching for hidden treasure.Lord Arctic of the Loctrum clan, upon discovering the existence of hidden treasure in the Loctrum cave, arranged for a group of laborers to work every day, chipping away at the hills in search of the treasure. Most of the laborers consisted of prisoners, slaves, and those who defied his orders.Eleven fell into the third category. Three days ago, he defied Lord Arctic's order to behead Brakor during an all-out war against the resurrected Vagnar.Brakor played a crucial role in the fight; without him, none of them would have survived. Eleven couldn’t bring himself to decapitate him, so he dropped the sword as soon as he raised it.His action cost him his freedom but also saved Brakor’s life. Both were now in the Loctrum cave, working as if their lives depended on it.“Gosh! I'm tired,” Eleven muttered, breathing
Chapter 9; Vaitrnim Purpulae Chief Damien glared hard at Chief Mowen as the tension in the room rose.“Your Majesty, my lady is held captive in Arctic’s palace. His plans for her remain unknown,” General Thalric concluded.“We have to get the Princess out of there as quickly as possible,” Chief Kai voiced out.“We can’t let her die. She’s the future of our kingdom. If Ellcrys is to be awakened, she’s the one capable…”“Still, we can’t go to war,” Chief Kai replied.“We don’t need an all-out war. We can go undercover,” Chief Jun stated, looking at each chief before finally staring at King Jade.“Thalric, send five of your best soldiers on an undercover mission to the Loctrum clan to rescue the Princess. They must bring her back at all costs,” King Jade ordered, getting to his feet. The four chiefs stood up almost immediately as General Thalric bowed.“The meeting is over,” King Jade announced and walked out.“Nothing must happen to the Princess, Thalric. We need the Ellcrys now more t
Chapter 10; The Rescue “Yuri! Where do you think they might be keeping the Princess?” asked one of the Elves in a low tone.“I can't really say. It might be a safe room,” Yuri replied as they advanced through the dark hallway. Night had fallen, and the light that was supposed to be in the fireplace was absent. This caught Yuri's attention, and he stopped his partner almost immediately.“The night has gone pretty far, and they haven't put on the light, Giyu.”“Are you thinking what I'm thinking?” Yuri added, and they both drew their swords from the scabbards when shadows dropped from the sky.“They know we are here.”In no time, they were surrounded by a group of Reapers whose shiny blades reflected in the night.“Giyu, you take the right while I take the left.”“But the right has fewer Reapers compared to the left,” Giyu protested.“Now,” Yuri cried out, and they both charged in opposite directions, heading towards the Reapers, moving at the speed of sound.Giyu raised his sword for
Chapter 11; Bloody Dinner The cave was dark and silent, only the sounds of crickets could be heard when Eleven groaned loudly.“Damn!” he cursed, nursing his foot. He had stormed his foot on a rock and it tore immediately, causing him great pain. The pain seemed to connect with every other pain in his body as he collapsed on the rocky ground, tears streaming from his eyes.‘Are you stupid? It's a dead end,’ his subconscious mind told him, and he started having second thoughts.“But I have to save him,” he said to himself. “He's the reason I'm still alive.”‘And you're the reason he's still breathing?’ his subconscious mind pressed on as he crawled forward, using his hands as a guide.‘What assurance do you have that he isn't dead yet?’“Enough!” he screamed, banging his fist on the hill. His voice echoed through the cave. He squeezed his face, trying to withstand the pain before advancing forward.Suddenly, the cave started shaking, particles of rock began falling down. He had alerte
Chapter 12 - Matrix Eleven groaned as he slowly regained consciousness, his body aching all over. He blinked, his eyes adjusting to a surreal, otherworldly glow surrounding him. He wasn’t in the cave anymore. Instead, he found himself in a vast, ethereal landscape, shimmering with vibrant colors and strange, floating symbols. It felt like being inside a living, breathing dream. He looked around, confused and disoriented.“Where am I?” he wondered aloud, his voice echoing in the vast emptiness.SYSTEM INITIALIZING... A voice boomed inside his head, causing him to flinch. WELCOME TO THE AETHERIAL MATRIX. He felt a rush of energy coursing through him, the pain in his body dulling as an unfamiliar presence seemed to meld with his consciousness.Eleven spun around, looking for the source of the voice. In the distance, a magnificent dragon, scales glistening with hues of gold and silver, emerged from the mist. Its eyes, ancient and wise, locked onto him."May I inquire as to your identit
Chapter 13 - The System ‘Oh no. The Trollocs are still here. They are going to devour me. I should've listened to the Dragon. I can't believe I came back just to die.’ He pondered, his gaze on the Trolloc who kept on advancing towards him.His both legs were seized by the Trolloc and he was raised from the ground, his head slapping the floor.‘So this is how it ends. I'm sorry Brakor. I couldn't be of help. I couldn't make it. Now, you have to die for my own failure.’SYSTEM NOTICE: A SKILL HAS BEEN FOUND. SYSTEM ANALYZING… THE SKILL ESSENCE ABSORPTION HAS BEEN UNLEASHED A robotic voice echoed as the Trolloc threw Kael up with great force, causing him to twirl in the air.“That voice! I thought it was the Dragon.” Kael asked himself as gravity pulled him back towards the Trollocs who stretched his arms ready to tear his meal into two.SYSTEM NOTICE: THE FLOWER VAITRNIM PURPULAE HAS BEEN ABSORBED. "Get up Kael.. You'll be late to class again." Dogo said, tapping his shoulder. "Allow me to sleep a little bit, just a little bit." Kael protested using the pillow to cover his head when Dogo jumped on the pillow, landing with his butt on it. "I heard an old student of Nevermore Academy has returned.. The most beautiful maiden in the Magic Department." Dogo said with smiles on his face. "And how's that my own business?" Kael groaned from underneath the pillow and Dogo chuckled, rising to his feet. "Everything about it is your business." He said amidst chuckling and walked out of the room. Kael laid on the bed for more than 10 minutes before finally getting on his feet and walked into the bathroom. Within 30 minutes, he had finished dressing up and then proceed towards the class. "I haven't eaten for long." He grumbled, holding his stomach as he managed and enter the class only to interrupt the Teacher's teaching. "Good Morning Ma." He greeted absentmindedly causing the studen

Elder Qin looked up to see a large icey ball falling from the sky and before they could make any move, it exploded instantly the force sending the trio crashing to different directions. "Earth Manipulation Technique: Fourth form... Earth binding." Kael cried out as he palm the Earth hard with his hands. The ground rose up swallowing Elder Qin and his clones. Kael spat out blood as his body was breaking due to the amount of force he's using. With all his might, he activated the all crushing skill and crushed the three binded creatures into pieces. He seized his breathe as he couldn't feel his body anymore when he spat out blood and almost collapsed to the ground when he used his hand as a support. For a moment, he thought it was over until he felt a presence behind him and as he turned....a fist plummeted to his face sending him crashing hard on the ground."You thought I would die easily." He heard Elder Qin voice when he was pulled by the leg and flinged away like a weightless pap
Kael’s poison resistance skill helped him nullify the poison, and as he got to his feet, Elder Qin emerged from the root cage with sharp talons in place of fingers.Elder Qin charged wildly at Kael, who punched the earth hard, throwing sand into the air. This didn't affect Elder Qin, who clawed his way through the sand, advancing toward Kael's stomach. Kael didn't see him coming as the claw slashed his shirt, ripping off his clothes and causing him to crash to the ground."Flower Magic: Gerit Trapatea," Elder Qin chanted, causing flowers to grow from the ground and trap Kael’s legs and arms, immobilizing him."You can't win against me, Kael. Not in this life. Not this way," Elder Qin said, walking up to him with the intent of finishing him off. But as he advanced, his bones started to crack. The rain had stopped drizzling as his talons grew longer, and he fell on all fours as his backbone crawled out of his back.Elder Qin was transforming, and Kael knew it. Gathering all his strength
"We are both Nexus Mages, but while you're at the Middle Stage of the Radiant Adept, I am at the Last Stage of the Radiant Adept. I'm afraid to say, Kael Stoneforge, the price of the antidote is your life, and you're going to pay for it in a brutal way," Kael heard the voice of Elder Qin as the cave wall cracked heavily, releasing overwhelming magical essences into the air."Freya, get up and find a place to hide. I'll show this guy why I'm called Kael," Kael screamed out loud as he released his own overwhelming essence into the air, summoning his sword to him.He charged at Elder Qin at once, who summoned a staff into his grip, countering Kael's attack with it. Kael glared hard as he pressed against the staff, causing his blade to break through it. Elder Qin made the staff vanish, ducking to avoid Kael's blow, which swung through the air instead. In that moment, Elder Qin planted a kick on Kael's chin, sending him soaring through the air and crashing into the cave wall before slumpin
[Two Hours Later]Kael was heading towards his room after fruitlessly waiting for Freya. He had been in the library, occupying himself with books and waiting for her to show up, but she didn't.He thought of heading to the restroom but dismissed the idea. He decided to head home instead. He turned the doorknob and found that the door was locked. It was strange not to find Dogo home by this time of day. His suspicion arose as he input his passkey and entered the room.As expected, it was empty, but something felt strange to him."Someone has been here," he said to himself, sniffing the air. He was perceiving a scent... a scent different from that of Dogo or Freya. He squinted his eyes around the room and found a letter lying on the bed. He quickly rushed and picked it up. It was a letter of invitation. He opened it and read the contents aloud, "If you want your servant, come to the cave in the woods and come alone. The Qin Family.""Oh, fuck..." he gnashed his teeth as he clenched his
[Two Days Later]"You mean Kael did this?" Qin Chun asked with a shocked expression."Yes, he did. He sabotaged our plan and exposed Qin Meng to the authorities of Nevermore Academy. Qin Meng is now a prisoner at the Academy, and he also shattered the bones of Qin Feng," Jahel answered Qin Chun as they both stood on the rooftop of Nevermore Academy, watching the students move around."Kael has caused a lot of trouble for us. It's high time we put him in his place," Qin Chun added with a frown."Kael isn't just any student. He's a noble and the heir of the House Stoneforge of the Armed Nation of Dwargon, and you're aware of the relationship between the Western Nation. Kael's not someone we can just rashly attack," Jahel revealed, causing Qin Chun to let out a sigh."We won't attack him rashly. We are going to invite him over.""Invite him over? Only a fool would accept the invitation of his enemy," Jahel stated, causing Qin Chun to chuckle."Send word to all members of the Qin Family
The Next Morning**Kael woke up late as usual, but this time he had a headache. He sat up on the bed, the events of the previous day lingering in his mind."Oh no... What have I done?" he asked himself as he flung the bedsheets aside and jumped out of bed, realizing he was naked. This was not his bed; it was Dogo's. He hadn't slept in his own bed the previous night. The door to the room opened, and Kael quickly grabbed the bedsheets as Freya entered with a smile on her face. She looked beautiful, dressed in her uniform and holding a tray of food."Oops. You're awake. I guess I'm late then," she said, dropping the tray on the table at the right corner of the room. Kael studied her expression; she had a calm look as if nothing had happened."Freya, how are you feeling now?" asked Kael, and she smiled broadly."I'm doing fine, Master, thanks to you. I never knew you'd go the extra mile even though you learned the poison was incurable," she said, and Kael chuckled."That was nothing, Frey
Chapter 82: The IntimacyKael was tired when he got back to Nevermore Academy. It was already nightfall, and the moon cast his shadow in the hallway. Althea had frustrated his life to the extent that he almost thought of harming her.His mind was filled with different thoughts as he staggered towards his room."Kael," he heard a familiar voice call out to him. He tilted his head to see Dogo approaching. A smile formed on his face as he tried hard to compose himself before he started thinking nonsense."I've been waiting for a while. I thought something bad happened to you," Dogo said, tapping his shoulder."No. I'm fine. I told you I can take on Gareld. He's a small fry for me," Kael boasted."Are you trying to brag or what?" Dogo arched a brow."Ain't doing nothing of such, brother," Kael defended."I see you trying to brag about your success because you possess some magic skills, but that doesn't change the fact that you're a 3-star..."Dogo paused immediately after turning towards
