Andrew deftly caught the blade, beaming from ear to ear. “It took Jackson over three months to get that one! Anika managed it about a month later. None of them got it on their first try.”
Alexa was stunned at what she had just done. The motion had come so naturally and just felt… right.
“But seriously, how often do you use knives? Don’t you all have guns?” she asked skeptically.
“Guns still have their place, but ammo supplies are running lower every day. Plus a knife is silent, and never runs out of ammo. I would rather have my knife over your gun.” Andrew explained.
“Really?”
To demonstrate, Andrew grabbed a practice gun with paint bullets, and a flexible training blade from his bag. He tossed the gun to Alexa.
“It works just like a real one, but its just paint. When the bell gongs, we go.” Andrew backed up almost 20 feet, and set a gong timer for 10 seconds.

Late the next morning, Arya Croft called Andrew. “Hello Arya, what can I do for you today?”“Hello Mr. Andrew. Two thinks if you are not too busy. Roisin asks that you visit the new construction site and help her verify something with one of the engineers. They may have a discrepancy.”“Ok, not a problem. Alexa and I are nearby at the training ground so we can swing by shortly after lunch. What else?”“A Miss Natalia Wyvrena who is the Regional director of the Bank of Dragard would like to meet with you personally. We spoke of them cooperating on a few projects and she would like to offer to be your personal contact for any needs.”“hmm, have we been able to use them for anything yet?”“As a matter of fact, they have been quite helpful on several projects we have going. While we have the cash on hand for each project, the bank has given us very good terms for running capital which ha
Andrew frowned and glanced at Alexa. “Alexa, how do you feel the men are?” “Umm, well they have been working hard. I think they are ready for some field training.” “Are you?” Alexa paled in realization at what Andrew was proposing. “I guess I have to be… stall them for ten minutes?” “tell the men they have five to get here.” Alexa opened her phone and hurriedly fired off a series of texts. When she was done, she looked up at Andrew, set her jaw and nodded as she set a timer on her phone. “For now, stay behind me, and we will see if they will talk. Give the men a chance to get here. When it starts, you stay at my side. Your goal is to keep them off me and finish any I leave. We will not kill this bunch if we can help it, I have other plans for them. Disable, and move on. Alexa… don’t hold back. Only hold back what you need to not kill. This is going to be brutal. It will take a lot of energy. Keep up and look for any opportunities they
As Liam left to deal with the brawlers, Alexa stood and walked over to Andrew. He turned to her and examined her from head to toe. “You did well Alexa. Your skills are improving quickly.” He reached into his pocket and withdrew a small pill. “This is the cleanse pill I gave the men at the training site. It is the first level and will help purify your body of anything that is preventing you from advancing. From there we can make you even stronger. This will also help you recover from today. I warn you, depending on what is in your body, it can be very unpleasant at first but after, the results are normally worth it.” Alexa nodded and took the pill. To Andrew’s astonishment however, she had minimal side effects like the men had experienced. Alexa looked up after a few minutes and said “I feel more energized! As for side effects it was not bad.” Andrew was stunned. “the men writhed on the ground for 30 minutes!” Alexa laugh
Later in the evening, in a spa near the mountainous slopes north of Durres, none other than Shane Eisen sat in a steaming pool with a scantily clad call girl draped across his lap. “Brother Maahes, tell me, how goes our business?” “It is Maahas to you, Shane. We have never been nor ever will be “Brothers”. And you did not inform me that the site you wanted targeted was so well guarded. I lost eight men in that first visit. Their payment will come out of your hide if you do not provide an adequate explanation.” Shane spluttered, “It's not my fault if your men could not handle a few construction workers.” “It will cost you for their lives, but in the end, I uphold my word. I have sent a larger force and will see them dealt with,” assured Maahas, relaxing back into his own pool. Just then a messenger rushed in, face red, “my lord! It's bad!” “Speak.” “My lord, our men! A whole lot of them have been bound and gagged in the city squ
Andrew answered Liam’s call, listened and said “very well, leave his men tied to the public center. Make it clear who they belong to and the price on their head. 11 hours remain Liam.” before he hung up just as the doorbell to his suite rang. He had taken a shower and was resting in the sitting room so he answered the door to find Natalia Wyvrena. “Hello, would you be Mr. Andrew?” “Yes.” “Hello, I am Natalia Wyvrena. May we speak?” “I am a bit busy, but I have a short window.” Andrew led her to the sitting room where there was a dining table to worked well as a small conference desk. Natalia Wyvrena introduced herself as the reginal director of customer relations for the Bank of Dragard. “I am responsible for all of Placida, Coutre and Devos. I wanted to expend my personal services to you if you have any needs. As one of the banks largest depositors, I am of course on call for you 24/7.” ‘one of’ snickered Raya ‘try the s
The next morning, Andrew and Alexa both woke, worry evident on their faces as they ate breakfast. Roisin had been missing for 12 hours now, and Maahas had not returned her or claimed his men. “Andrew…” Alexa hedged as they ate breakfast, the chair to the left noticeably for its emptiness, “We are going to get her back, right?” Andrew pondered his eggs as he thought. “Liam has had men out all night. The city knows we are looking. He should have a location for Maahas for me shortly. when the call comes, we will take the men, and visit his lair in person,” Andrew said, trying hard to push steel into his words. Alexa glanced at the empty chair, and pushed food around her plate. Andrew’s phone rang and they both jumped. “Liam, tell me you have something.” On the other end of the line, “Maahas refused to pay, and there has been no word. I have confirmed that the men were indeed members of Maahas’ gang, but there is no sighting of Roisin. Cal

It did not take long for the men to coax the information out of Maahas men after they saw what was left of their immortal leader. Once they had the address, Andrew quickly led the men down the mountain, leaving half behind to guard Maahas men until the local authority could finally arrive and deal with them. At the warehouse, it only had three men inside, sitting around a bloody-faced Darren. Andrew flicked his finger, and the fifteen men with him sprang into action, pummeling the surprised men into bloody pulp. “Leave them alive.” Called Andrew, a bit too late to save the men from most of their injuries. The bodies were stacked to the side as Andrew knelt before Darren. “Rose?” came the blood-filled wheeze. “She is fine, we have her. Now, hand on a minute while I examine you.” Andrew untied Darren as Raya sensed his injuries through Andrew's touch. ‘Several broken ribs and that jaw is dislocated. Your pill should h
