When Andrew woke up and went to have breakfast with Roisin and Alexa, President Liam was waiting for them.

“President Liam, please join us. I assume you have urgent news if you are here in person.” Said Roisin.

“Miss Roisin, please feel free to just call me Liam. Please forgive me, but I need a private word with Mr. Andrew.”

“Of course.” With that, Roisin and Alexa found a table in the dining room to wait for Andrew.

“Sir, Maahes was taken to a hospital. I had men watch him. It seems his brother is now in town. The lord Butcher himself.” Said Liam in a quiet tone.

“Indeed. Well, it was to be expected. The Butcher has come for his younger brother, the so-called god of war of Durres,  Maahes. HA. Did he have any demands?” asked Andrew knowingly.

“5o million, sir.” Said Liam. Liam knew he could not simply take out 50 million from company money even if it was available. To do so would be to admit guilt on one hand, and on the other, i

Soon, the underground was ablaze with news again! President Liam was selling off massive amounts of business! This was unheard of, but several in the underground had also heard about the 50 million dollar ultimatum issued by the Lord Butcher. Many assumed that Liam was quickly raising the capital to pay tribute so a big boss or had major issues and was running scared! People were amazed because it was not just the fast money-making business from the underground world but also gray world business and even some businesses that seemed legitimate were sold off in a hurry, often at a loss. There were voices of discussion everywhere about Liam. “wouldn’t you be scared? 50 million was the price on his head from the Lord Butcher. Does he have enough business to sell to raise that kind of capital? What if he doesn’t raise the funds? The Lord Butcher is going to have his head this time!” many people laughed at Liam in private thinking he would have to kneel and beg the l

During this time, Andrew instructed Roisin to lay low, and spend her time close to Arya croft. Alexa and Liam each assigned several extra men to guard the two of them. Andrew refused to let the time go to waste and decided now was a great time to get some training in with Alexa. “Let's see what Raya taught you.” Alexa just smiled. At the construction site, she worked with fifteen men, as several were assigned to Roisin’s detail and several were at the new site. This would be a good test to see what they could do with reduced numbers and in smaller units. “Begin!” came Andrew’s command. As they circled Andrew, he realized things were different. A sudden pain in his back brought his focus back to the moment and he found he had lost track of Alexa already! “Hit!” she called. How had that happened! The men all grinned, a new fire in their eyes. Andrew had promised them high rewards if they ever beat him in practice.

The next day The Lord Butcher found himself and a few retainers visiting a dockside bar. “you rang?” he said to the only man sitting there. “my patron rang. Let's get down to business. You have… shall we just call them, roadblocks.” “Are you referring to those who abolished my brother? They are soon to be plant food.” “Fair enough. If you can find them. My patron wants to make sure the complete job is done. If you discredit Roisin in whatever way your men see fit, and remove Alexa, there is an extra ten million in it for you. However, the son-in-law of lord Devos is not to be touched.” “Son in law?” asked lord butcher. Devos was a powerful house from Ashai. He knew better than to mess with another province. “What about Liam?” he said hesitantly. “We have no ties to a Liam. Do with him as you wish.” Lord Butcher beamed at that. “very well. I will do my best to avoid this son-in-law of Devos. I make no promises if he was directly

Andrew had spent the morning working with Liam and Arya Croft today preparing for the transition to the new site and filing formal business notices to the correct authorities. Around noon, Anika finally rolled in on her bike, dressed in her black riding leathers. “You didn’t run away from the capital this time, did you? You are not going to have an army of lord Reva’s men coming to find you again, right?” asked Andrew. “It's good to see you too.” She said as she patted his cheek. “and no, I did not run away this time, but that is not to say some of the capital spies will not be lurking about. I swear, I feel like there are always eyes on me these days.” Anika replied. “Hmm, I am not sure I care for the sound of that,” replied Andrew. “You are just jealous that someone other than you is staring at me.” She said coyly. “hmmm,” Andrew chuckled and pulled her into a side hug as they walked in to see Arya and continue reviewing plans for the

That evening, across town, Liam was meeting with several big bosses of the underground circle of Durres. Each man had laid claim to a different sector of the city. They were all here to convince Liam to settle with the lord butcher. “Liam, it's bad for business for you to have a blood feud in our streets. We are willing to buy off the rest of your businesses to help you raise the capital.” Said one. “I have sold all my underground business. I don’t need to sell anything else. I never had need of cash in the first place.” Said Liam calmly, leaning back in his chair. “Come now, man. We all know you owe a huge sum to the lord Butcher. 50 million is not easy money. Even if you broke your entire capital chain with new loans, it may not be possible. Look, we are willing to let you have a loan, and will offer you a great rate. Dreadnaught can be collateral against the butcher killing you outright. Surely if you settle tonight, well before the deadline, he may only b

In a dark stock room near the eastern dock, Shane Eisen was tossed against a crate, gagged and bound. “Piece of shit. It's because of you the master is now a useless chunk of plaster. Now we have to face the wrath of his brother! The lord fucking butcher himself! Do you know how much trouble we are in now that he is here in person because your stupid ass put us on that job! 5 million! 5 fucking million! as if 5 million was enough to cross the lord butcher! Who the fuck did you put us up against you jackass!” cussed the brawler as he kicked Shane Eisen repeatedly. “relax man, he cannot tell you anything until you ungag him.” Said another. “I just want him to understand the shit storm he has brought down on us all!” said the first. They finally ungagged Shane who choked up a mouthful of blood. “I don’t know who you pissed off. I just asked you to mess with my niece. She has no backing. She was tossed out of the family. “Well, his legs anyway,” Alexa replied. “Why you little bi…” The door blew off its hinges from a blow so strong it flew in, flattening two of the brawlers. Anika and Andrew stepped in simultaneously, already in motion, moving in perfect unison, to attack the stunned brawlers to either side. Anika and Andrew both punched and two fell before the noise of the door crashing had even ceased, and they spun, to the left, kicking the two men standing on the opposite side of the doorway, their bodies slamming into the steel beams of the wall with a sickening crack. Andrew then grabbed Anika by the wrist and they twisted in a synchronized twist that sent Anika spinning across the room like a bullet, feet first, to slam her heels into the chest of the final brawler. His chest collapsed under the sudden assault and Anika used his body and a launchpad to land between the girls and Lord Butcher. “Anika! You made it!” said Alexa. “please, let me have some of the fun

On the other side of Durres, the underground bosses were gloating over their new businesses and discussing how to divide up Liam’s legitimate business as well. “If that bastard is not going to use the funds we provided to pay off lord Butcher, he will be dead by morning!” one said. “Indeed! He is lucky we were generous enough to pay what little we did. We should have just taken those businesses. But now we can lay claim to Dreadnought Investment Group as well! I hear he has started a nice new construction site with ties to the medical group. That should be worth a decent penny!” said another. “Yes, but will we be able to keep these or will the Lord butcher claim them himself on top of what we paid Liam? Can we resist the lord Butcher if he comes at us?” a third cut in nervously. “Surely the Lord butcher has enough to deal with, and would leave us this slice?” said the first. “Besides, Liam will be dead, and this vengeance saded” Just then a ru

Andrew led the way as they headed back toward the great hall. “Come, it is time to return to Durres.” As they passed into the grand hall, Alexa let out a shocked squeak as two men grabbed her arms from either side. Anika and Andrew spun back to her and Anika drew a dagger. Conner’s two younger brothers held Alexa. “Lookie what we found. A murderous little bitch.” Lord Devos stepped out of the shadows then with a man that Alexa felt bore a striking resemblance to lieutenant Tannis. “Ah, goddess Anika, you saved me a lot of trouble bringing this traitor to me. I thank you. the Praetorian guard has already been summoned. After all, the death of the son of Senator Palmos cannot hardly be overlooked.” “Lord Governor Devos, you will release Alexa now. If you don’t, you will find I am far more than you can afford to offend.” Andrew said coldly. “Son, don’t play here.” Governor Devos said, snapping his fingers. Twenty home guard stepped out of the shadows and surrounded them. General Ezra

Alexa marveled at the militaristic atmosphere as they entered the palace of Devos Mansion. There were guards stationed at the entrance who bowed respectfully as their badges automatically lifted the gate without the guard needing to activate it.When they arrived at the front doors of the castle, six guards came to the side of the car and stood at attention. They exited the car and Anika led the way into the grand hall.“Seems they might have expected us.” Anika said softly as Alexa took in the numerous guards who lines the alcoves of the grand hall. Many were hidden in shadow and if her keen hearing had not detected their breathing, or the subtle expansion of their chests against taught leather and breast plates, she likely would have assumed they were statues. At the far end, a throne sat empty. A steward stood off to the side and raised his voice.“The Red Dragon, Anika Archeron and company.”Nothing happened, and the room fell eerily silent.“Are the devos not in?” Anika asked A

The ride to Kaibain started out quiet. Alexa stared out the window, lost in thought. The realization that she had killed one of their own soldiers over a stupid argument galled her. Raya joined her thoughts, ‘He pulled a weapon on of god of war. That is tantamount to treason.’ ‘He didn’t know I was a god of war. You only just made that appointment. I don’t wear any insignia, nor am I even in this army.’ ‘Alexa, you are my warrior. You were there under Andrew’s command, with Anika, Nash, and the rest. Everyone of them is a known god of war and every member of the dragon squad outranked that pissant. That is over 1000 soldiers from across the land that are KNOWN to outrank him. no one travels in the company of the gods of war without outranking that traitor. Alexa unstrapped her blade and handed it to Andrew. Her wolf, Cole had been his name before he took on the designation of #2, handed over several blades as well. Nash checked the other soldiers to make sure they were not hiding any weapons.Satisfied, Andrew glared at Tannis, but opted to let Alexa fix this herself. “Winner gets the title and honor. Loser is demoted. No weapons. Submission wins. BEGIN!”The word begin had barely left Andrew’s lips when Alexa and Cole exploded. Alexa’s black hair billowed in the wind and she rushed forward, and then Cole powered before Her, arm out stretched. She caught hold of his arm and he swung her, tripling her speed and he added every bit of momentum he could to her flight. Alexa rocketed at the soldiers and flipped into a feet first attack at the last second, crashing into two soldier’s mid sections. They were rendered unconscious as they flew back, smashing into the side of a transport truck, the wi

However, I have the ability to now grant you full authority as a god of war. You will not be subject to any authority except mine and Raya’s, and with this rank, you also now have authority second only to mine and the other gods of war.”Alexa blanched, realizing just what was being bestowed upon her. “Are you sure?”“It is not up to me. This is Raya.” He said calmly. “Now, It is time we get back to our own tasks in Durres. There is still plenty left undone there, and sadly we have new business to attend.”Alexa remembered her dead wolves and nodded.“Go ahead and load up. I will be out with Anika shortly.”Alexa headed out, flanked as soon as she left the meeting hall by several wolves who had been waiting outside the doors. When th

Alexa’s eye’s opened to light streaming into her eyes. Pain radiated around her neck. The light moved away and was replaced by Anika’s face.“Lay still, Alexa. Your windpipe is damaged, but you will be fine. Likely just some bruising. Here, I am going to help you swallow this pill.” Anika gently helped her open her mouth, which sent spasms of pain along her jaw. The pill dissolved instantly when it hit her tongue. She closed her eyes as the pill did its work. When she opened her eyes again, it was to the gentle rays of dawn peaking over the lake. They had moved her to the shore and had packed sleeping bags around her. Her neck felt stiff and when she reached up, she felt the rigid frame of a brace around her neck. Anika’s face loomed over head then.“Hey, sleepy head. Don’t try to talk, try squeeze my fingers to answer me.” Anika held out two fingers. Alexa obeyed. “Now, Are you hurting?”A

Howls erupted around her as Alexa’s wolves went battle mad. The sound aroused a spark of consciousness. Raya was screaming in her mind as silverly wings enveloped her mind. Alexa’s eyes flashed with defiance as she reached up and gripped the flat top of bloodbane. Any mortal that tried this would be sliced or simply have the blade moved down out of their grip. Alexa’s grip however, viced onto the blade so tight, its motion toward her neck halted completely. The commander looked at her, shocked. Clearly he had intended on placing the blade flat against his fist and pushing it away from him, across the top of his hand, taking alexa’s head off in the process. He had maneuvered the blade a bit slowly. Perhaps out of caution, knowing its deadly power, or perhaps due to bloodloss. Either way, the blade was now frozen, inches from Alexa’s neck. She still dangled in the air, legs suspended by his massive grip but her defiant eyes were not dying like they

Alexa walked along the cliff face, glancing over her shoulder at the rock debris that covered the cave entrance. Her stomach roiled as she thought about the wolf that she had lost. She vowed to visit his family and ensure Andrew and Anika would take care of the family from now on. Lost in thought she didn’t see the crack in the rock as she passed. The shlick of a crossbow bolt being released had her spinning around and dropping low as she looked for the attacker. Behind her # 26 slumped to the, a bolt protruding from his chest, as red blood leaked from the corner of his mouth. “NO!” she cried, her black blade flashing in her hand. “Down!” she waved at the men behind her and the took cover, but not before several more bolts flew, taking down several more of her men. Carter grunted as a bolt caught him in the gut. “Alert! We are under fire” Alexa barked into her mic. The whole squad rushed in her direction, cautious of the incoming bolts. To her horror,

Likely dead. “Minor wounds mostly. A few took bolts in that last volley.” She said to Nash.“They have a cav
