In the Golden Dragon Emporium Club, Liam sat in an office he used while managing the club. Cold sweat poured from his back. If anything happened tonight to Andrew, or any of the girls, his life was forfeit. The way he had spoken to those other bosses of the underground was unforgivable. However, he had played it off as cool and collected, and followed Andrew’s instruction. If Andrew ordered, he would do, and Andrew had ordered him to clean out all dark business. The profit loss from that was enormous, but Liam had already seen in just the few short weeks Andrew had been here just how large he planned to make his Dragon Corporation Empire. Loses now from the underground would be a drop in the bucket tomorrow when he looked back and compared the profits gained by following Andrew.

“Sir, there is news.” Said one of his men.

“go on,” Liam said, almost fearing the answer.

“It is done.”

“Done?”

“Lord Butcher was seen being dragged from the city by h

Later that evening – Celeana’s room. Knock knock knock “Enter!” In walked the family spymaster. “Ah, have you news?” asked Celeana coldly. “are the bitches dead or otherwise no longer in the picture?” “My lady there was an issue.” “Issue? How hard can it be for a group of thugs to kidnap, rape, and dispose of a couple of girls, dammit!” Celeana vented. “My lady, it seems that these particular women may have more protection than we were originally aware. And there are other… developments. It seems the lord Butcher and his brother, one known as Maahes, were both hired to mess with Roisin and hinder her work efforts.” “Really? Well, that is fine. Double the pay to get the job done permanently.” “My lady, Roisin, her cousin, and the woman named Alexa were successfully captured. However… it seems that their protection detail arrived within a matter of minutes. It was… very one-sided.” “How so?” Asked Ce

Ashia home counsel: “My Lord, The God of war, Nash, is at the gates and on his way to see you.” Said the house steward. “WHAT?! Here? NOW? What could that blood-thirsty monster want?” said the old Lord Devos. “My lord, please be careful. It is said the gods each have enhanced hearing. It would not be good for him to hear such words.” Said the steward. “You are correct. It is just hard to fathom the king granting such power to someone as young as he.” Said the lord Devos, who himself was in his seventieth year. “It seems the king saw fit to name several who are of the younger generation. I believe Jackson and Zev might be in their mid-forties, but the rest are younger. My lord, shall I summon your sons?” asked the steward. “Yes, If the God of war is here, they might as well meet him. Also, alert the house guard. Not that I think they could take him, but still, best be prepared nonetheless.” Said Lord Alan Devos, patriarch of the D

Lord Connor Devos, son to lord Governor Devos, sat in his office, deep in the keep of the Ashain capital city of Kaibain. He picked up his phone and dialed his spymaster. “Yes my lord” came the stoke voice of the shadow master. “I need an update on Celeana. What the HELL has she been doing?” demanded Connor Devos. “Sir? Forgive me sir, but did you not approve this mission to find the lost son-in-law?” “I approved her to look for him, yes! Sign the divorce and be done!” stated Connor. “My Lord, forgive me, but it seems your daughter has taken a different meaning from your words. She is here looking for her husband, but not to break the contract. I believe it is her intention to consummate it and bring him back to Ashai.” “What the hell has gotten into that girl! The peerage is already mocking us because of such a son-in-law! Does she seek to shake the whole family?” asked Conner. “I do not know for sure sir, but I think she is s

“Fine. Now tell me, how the hell did she piss of the goddess of Placida?” asked Connor. “umm, the goddess? I was not aware she was in Durres. My contacts have her in Tirana.” “Well, when nash was here he said Celeana had targeted members of the goddess’ staff.” Explained Connor. “Shit. She did have me order a hit on two women who had been hanging around Mr. Andrew. I didn’t know if they were staff of the goddess.” “Well, it's your fucking job to know! From now on, keep me in the loop. She is not allowed to order any hits without first going through me! Understood?” “umm well, she has already sent men to Tirana to track some other people associated with Andrew.” “What the actual fuck man! You are in Placida, not Ashai! You will be lucky if you survive the coming storm!” Connor decided it was time to confront Celeana, as clearly she was the ring leader of this hurricane of bad news. As soon as he hung up with the spymaste

Andrew and Anika awoke to golden sunshine streaming through the window. “looks like a new dawn. Perhaps Durres will be a quieter place now that the butcher and his brother are gone from it.” Said Anika. “so long as you are around, I doubt it will be quiet.” Snarked Andrew. Anika punched his shoulder. “Ouch! Take it out on Alexa at the training ground!” Andrew pleaded, rubbing his shoulder. “O, that actually does sound like a fun day. Do I get to beat up on those wolf pack guys for their failure?” Anika asked enthusiastically. “You cannot permanently maim them, but otherwise, yes. They are due to be tested by something they have not faced.” Replied Andrew, contemplating various scenarios he could put them through. “well, come on. We are burning daylight!” Anika said excitedly, jumping up to dress in her fighting gear. “Actually, I have a new suit for you.” Said Andrew, remembering the suit that he had made for her that m

“I tend to agree, but we will let Anika here test her and the wolf pack shortly. As for your day, what do you have planned?” asked Andrew. “I need to stop by the site shortly to make sure things are still on track, and then Miss Croft as requested I meet and discuss how several contracts will work and what kind of manpower we need to plan for when the factory opens,” Roisin explained. “Good. Who is on duty with you today?” asked Andrew. “I believe it is Zachary with me today.” “Good deal. Keep him close.” “Andrew, may I ask something?” “Of course.” “the other day, when we were at the Dragon’s lair. That woman, Celeana. Do we need to be aware of anything?” Roisin asked seriously. “Celeana may be a problem, but she is not your problem. If she causes any trouble, report it to Miss Croft and myself. And no, before you ask, she has zero authority over you or anything to do with any of my businesses. Do not let her make decis

Suddenly, the array shifted and Anika was caught off guard as the 30 men became two spears of 15, moving to circle her. She smiled in pleasure at the challenge. Andrew, for his part, was beaming from ear to ear watching Alexa sneak in behind Anika. For once, it was someone else that was the object of the she-wolf’s attention. Alexa used the distraction of the two arrowheads to disappear from Anika’s view and move in for a strike. Just as Anika was about to send another dizzying array of strikes against the right-most knot of men, a shadow came across her shoulder and she spun only fast enough to turn her face into the downward fall of Alexa’s fist as she crashed down from the top of her leap. CRACK! The sound of that fist landing started everyone around. Anika for her part reeled away in startled pain. It had been years since anyone had landed a blow like that on her in the training arena. Anika realized with a bit of chagrin that she actually had blood dripp

Raya then suggested a new series of drills where Andrew and Anika would observe, and use men from the 200 trainees to be attackers. The wolf pack was assigned to escort Alexa on a full circuit of the training ground and through the halls on the second floor. Andrew and Anika would station attackers along various points to try to attack. The surprise attacks were often enough for the wolf pack to lose two to five men, but once they regrouped, the attackers were quickly defeated. Finally, Andrew set a team of fifty attacks on an ambush. The wolf pack walked right into the trap. Alexa spotted the trap a second too late. As her wolves began to take damage and lost members to simulated kill hits, she spotted Andrew, Anika, and another group stationed at the safe zone. Raya came to her mind. ‘they are your backup, reach them, reach safety.” Alexa understood the drill then. Reach Andrew, and he and his men would defend. “Wolves, safe zone! Move!” she bellowed. Andrew led the way as they headed back toward the great hall. “Come, it is time to return to Durres.” As they passed into the grand hall, Alexa let out a shocked squeak as two men grabbed her arms from either side. Anika and Andrew spun back to her and Anika drew a dagger. Conner’s two younger brothers held Alexa. “Lookie what we found. A murderous little bitch.” Lord Devos stepped out of the shadows then with a man that Alexa felt bore a striking resemblance to lieutenant Tannis. “Ah, goddess Anika, you saved me a lot of trouble bringing this traitor to me. I thank you. the Praetorian guard has already been summoned. After all, the death of the son of Senator Palmos cannot hardly be overlooked.” “Lord Governor Devos, you will release Alexa now. If you don’t, you will find I am far more than you can afford to offend.” Andrew said coldly. “Son, don’t play here.” Governor Devos said, snapping his fingers. Alexa marveled at the militaristic atmosphere as they entered the palace of Devos Mansion. There were guards stationed at the entrance who bowed respectfully as their badges automatically lifted the gate without the guard needing to activate it.When they arrived at the front doors of the castle, six guards came to the side of the car and stood at attention. They exited the car and Anika led the way into the grand hall.“Seems they might have expected us.” Anika said softly as Alexa took in the numerous guards who lines the alcoves of the grand hall. Many were hidden in shadow and if her keen hearing had not detected their breathing, or the subtle expansion of their chests against taught leather and breast plates, she likely would have assumed they were statues. At the far end, a throne sat empty. A steward stood off to the side and raised his voice.“The Red Dragon, Anika Archeron and company.”Nothing happened, and the room fell eerily silent.“Are the devos not in?” Anika asked A

The ride to Kaibain started out quiet. Alexa stared out the window, lost in thought. The realization that she had killed one of their own soldiers over a stupid argument galled her. Raya joined her thoughts, ‘He pulled a weapon on of god of war. That is tantamount to treason.’ ‘He didn’t know I was a god of war. You only just made that appointment. I don’t wear any insignia, nor am I even in this army.’ ‘Alexa, you are my warrior. You were there under Andrew’s command, with Anika, Nash, and the rest. Nash checked the other soldiers to make sure they were not hiding any weapons.Satisfied, Andrew glared at Tannis, but opted to let Alexa fix this herself. “Winner gets the title and honor. Loser is demoted. No weapons. Submission wins. BEGIN!”The word begin had barely left Andrew’s lips when Alexa and Cole exploded. Alexa’s black hair billowed in the wind and she rushed forward, and then Cole powered before Her, arm out stretched. You will not be subject to any authority except mine and Raya’s, and with this rank, you also now have authority second only to mine and the other gods of war.”Alexa blanched, realizing just what was being bestowed upon her. “Are you sure?”“It is not up to me. This is Raya.” He said calmly. “Now, It is time we get back to our own tasks in Durres. There is still plenty left undone there, and sadly we have new business to attend.”Alexa remembered her dead wolves and nodded.“Go ahead and load up. I will be out with Anika shortly.”Alexa headed out, flanked as soon as she left the meeting hall by several wolves who had been waiting outside the doors. When th

Your windpipe is damaged, but you will be fine. Likely just some bruising. She closed her eyes as the pill did its work. When she opened her eyes again, it was to the gentle rays of dawn peaking over the lake. They had moved her to the shore and had packed sleeping bags around her. Her neck felt stiff and when she reached up, she felt the rigid frame of a brace around her neck. Howls erupted around her as Alexa’s wolves went battle mad. The sound aroused a spark of consciousness. Raya was screaming in her mind as silverly wings enveloped her mind. Alexa’s eyes flashed with defiance as she reached up and gripped the flat top of bloodbane. Any mortal that tried this would be sliced or simply have the blade moved down out of their grip. Alexa’s grip however, viced onto the blade so tight, its motion toward her neck halted completely. The commander looked at her, shocked. Clearly he had intended on placing the blade flat against his fist and pushing it away from him, across the top of his hand, taking alexa’s head off in the process. He had maneuvered the blade a bit slowly. Perhaps out of caution, knowing its deadly power, or perhaps due to bloodloss. Either way, the blade was now frozen, inches from Alexa’s neck. She still dangled in the air, legs suspended by his massive grip but her defiant eyes were not dying like they

Alexa walked along the cliff face, glancing over her shoulder at the rock debris that covered the cave entrance. Her stomach roiled as she thought about the wolf that she had lost. She vowed to visit his family and ensure Andrew and Anika would take care of the family from now on. Lost in thought she didn’t see the crack in the rock as she passed. The shlick of a crossbow bolt being released had her spinning around and dropping low as she looked for the attacker. Behind her # 26 slumped to the, a bolt protruding from his chest, as red blood leaked from the corner of his mouth. “NO!” she cried, her black blade flashing in her hand. “Down!” she waved at the men behind her and the took cover, but not before several more bolts flew, taking down several more of her men. Carter grunted as a bolt caught him in the gut. “Alert! We are under fire” Alexa barked into her mic. The whole squad rushed in her direction, cautious of the incoming bolts. To her horror,
