Theodore Andrew Scifios. The genius of the Scifios Family, official first born of Randolph and Ashe Scifios. Brother to the young lady Lucy Petille Scifios. The 11 year old genius of Psychokinesis, heir to the seat of Lysensa's top hospital, St. Basca. He took over my position when I... lost the wager.
Now looking at him, sent chills down my spine. I never anticipated nor know that our reunion will be this soon.
'Calm down... just calm down...' I told myself as my heart beats faster.
'Hehe... Look at you, pretending to be calm.' My anxiety smiles as he floats around my psyche.
Theodore took a seat beside me and he takes out a picture of his family. His smile was innocent and carefree. He was wearing his scholar's band, and his light brown uniform signifies his high status.
"I wonder what my ma and da would feel when I graduate." Theo asked with a smile while staring at the photo.
'S-should I reply?' My mind raced.
"No matter, I'll make them proud. Hey, I didn't quite catch your name pal." Theo smiled widely. It made me completely uncomfortable.
"Marc Callahan Noan." I said rather quietly.
"Nice to meet you pally! Say, you look rather sickly, you feeling under the weather?" His energy wasn't like Conner's, no... It's the same but different at the same time.
"I-I'm fine." I stuttered, he makes me feel so uneasy.
"You look familiar pal. Are you also from Lysensa?" He asked with unbound curiousity.
When he mentioned Lysensa, I remembered something unpleasant. Snowy weather, a park, and... Looks of disdain and disappointment. I shuddered, and a sudden wave of nausea hits me.
"Excuse me for a bit... I do feel a bit queasy." I stood up so suddenly and book it towards the door without giving him any room to talk.
Calm down... I have to calm down. While rushing out, I was blocked by Vann at the door way who looked mildly surprised.
"Hey sea pup! Where you off to?" Vann asked playfully.
"Step aside..." I said rather brashly and shove him to the side, not even glancing at his reaction.
I stopped at one of the benches in front of the Prairie Building and took a deep breath. Even a change of scenery wasn't enough to calm down my nerves. Despite the light colored windows and pastel parasols of the rest area, the sickening feeling wouldn't leave me.
A sudden meeting with my estranged baby brother. Somehow destiny seems to be laughing at my situation. I still see Theo's smile. That happiness, that unbound warmth... It made me feel glad to see him like that, he deserves to be happy and he did it with his own worth, so why am I angry?
Anger, that's one emotion I never once expressed my whole entire life. When I was still living in the Noan Orphanage, the kids told me that I was their favorite because I don't get angry with them. So I thought it was okay for me not to get angry. But Keith, being an empath, told me that bottling up anger is harmful for me.
I wasn't sure on what he meant but I never find a reason to be angry, until today. And now, I don't know how to express nor let go of my anger, and I feel like having a fever. Whatever it is, I feel like any action I take will have dire consequences.
'Fuck... What is wrong with me?' I asked myself.
'You're confused, as usual.' My anxiety said with glee.
I can't deal with this. Taking a breather was harder than expected, so I head back to the room, only to find Vann arguing with the blonde. Only they and Theo are inside the room.
His hair was cut in medium waves, his violet eyes sparked with electricity. His fists were also crackling with purple lightning.
"Don't test me Alencon." The blonde said in a quiet yet angry voice.
"Oh I'm sure everyone follows your orders Young Master Narukami." Vann mocked even further, Theodore was obviously distraught, he must've hated conflict. Poor lad.
"Last warning." Narukami said, his lightning emanating from his fingers up towards his eyes.
"Try me." Vann challenged, his eyes radiating confidence as the whole room begins get cold.
"H-hey... Let's all try to be civil here, all right? We're all friends here?" Theo tries to disperse the tension but it all fell in deaf ears. I had my fair share of trying to stop fights, but if there's one thing I know, is that boys, especially the tough ones and roughly their age, never back down without a fight.
They were about to go at it when the door opened and chains began to wrap around the two of them. Vann got an extra chain on his mouth, which in all honesty, was a relief.
"It's only second period and you want to make a mess of the classroom." The professor was a tiny man in his 40's. He was roughly the size of the desk, but the way he presents himself was one that radiates authority, same as Lady Emma a while back.
"Blake Mathis, Eula Kresnik, and Phoebe Maxwell will not be attending today's class. The Headmaster has already informed me. And I see two new faces here. Welcome to Basic Thaumaturgy. I'm your teacher, Eden Godwin. And my ability is Shackles." Professor Godwin piped as he releases the chains that bound Narukami and Vann.
"I already know the two of you, but for the sake of the newcomers, you will have to demonstrate your powers and introduce yourselves as well. Let's start with you, Mr. Alencon."
Vann groans and tries to sit down but Professor Godwin gives him a rather stern look that could curdle dairy.
Vann exasperatedly sighs and irritably scratches his head.
"Vann Ethan Alencon. 13 Years old, Blood type A-. If you want to know more about me, you can find my name in the cadet's list in the Port Protection Agency. As for my power... Well, sea pup here already knows how bombastic I can be right?" He winked at me and I shuddered.
"I can vomit just by looking at you." I was meant to say that to myself but I was so appalled I said it out loud. I covered my mouth when I said that, earning stifled laughs even from Professor Godwin.
But Vann was unphased and just demonstrated. On his left hand, ice crystals began to form, solidifying into an anchor as he tosses it to the air, he then did a swift and fluid motion with his right hand, and a stream of water blasts and envelops on the anchor like a dredgeline. Vann can command both water and ice.
"Yes, yes I know. I'm amazing." Vann said in an extravagant tone.
"Yes, most amusing. Now then, Mr. Narukami?"
"Diego Narukami. That's it." He said briskly.
"Aren't you gonna add the sparkles you're so proud of?" Vann sassed and Diego just glared at him. He then shoots a bolt of lightning towards the ceiling, but instead of breaking it, it got absorbed.
"Heh, you still got it sparky." Vann whistled and Diego rolled his eyes. Are they friends or something?
"Moving on. Let's start with you." Professor Godwin turned his gaze to Theodore.
"Alrighty, my name's Theodore Andrew Scifios. I'm turning 13 this month!" Theo smiled widely. "And my ability is this."
He extended his hand and it was enveloped by teal energy which consolidates into a sphere, he then throws it towards the board and it explodes into a cloudburst of telekinetic energy. creating a huge dent on the board.
"So you're a psionic?" Professor Godwin asked. "And that was a bit too much."
"Well... no. I'm only limited to telekinesis and the spheres." Theo sighs. "Da told me that I should train here for practical use of medical telekinesis."
"That will do Mr. Scifios, and finally?" Professor turned to me.
"I'm Marc Callahan Noan. 13 years old." I said, and... I unleashed my power, sky blue energy begins to envelope the broken board.
'Focus, you've fixed things lots of times.' I told myself and methodically moved my fingers, pieces of the board begin fix itself, while keeping the whole board in its original position. After a few more seconds, the board looked good as new.
"You're a Psionic too? That's wicked pal!" Theo stands up to his feet and exclaims in a powerful voice.
"T-thanks..." I blushed, I wasn't sure how to take it but here I am.
"Well, looks like the sea pup has a useful power after all." Vann whistled and I rolled my eyes.
"All right, settle down. Now then, like before, This will be your first class in Thaumaturgy. Or Applying your Abilities to help your community." Professor Godwin then began his lecture on Thaumaturgy.
He first explained what it was, which is using your abilities to create miracles. Fixing broken things, healing the wounded, even revitalizing the earth. Thaumaturgy is also a double-edged sword. Professor Godwin explained it as breaking the natural taboo, one topic that stuck with me was resurrecting another living being.
"It is imperative to know that while yes, you can save someone from dying, but reviving someone back from death is another story. The dead will remain dead, no matter if you re-animate them or create another version of them. So don't try to break that taboo." Professor Godin said and Vann just let out a huge yawn.
A few minutes more class finally ended, but not before the professor gave us homework, which is to write a 5 sentence essay about the dangers of Thaumaturgy.
"That will be submitted on Friday. Best of luck students!" He piped and I could finally relax a bit.
"Hey, Noan. Got a minute?" Diego Narukami asked for me and I just nod. He led me outside and towards an open courtyard. He then stopped abruptly for me to read his mind.
'I wonder what the boss sees in him? Well, time for me to find out.'
Boss? Who is he talking about? I had no time to ask him for when he faced my direction he shoots a column of violet lightning towards me. I skid to side to avoid getting hit, and it fried a nearby shrubbery.
"Crickey, what the hell was that for?!" I reverted back to my old dialect from the surprise.
"I heard you have a fight with Alencon and McKenna later. I'm just giving you a warm-up and a welcome notice. Stand up Noan, weaklings won't be tolerated here in Lupus Alma." Diego said and he lunges in a speed too fast for me to follow. His fist connected with my mid section, violet lightning arcs from the sides as he throws me off, knocking the wind out of me.
I slammed to the floor as the air keep escaping from my lungs, every breath was like daggers piercing my lungs, and my stomach was burning like someone was prodding it with a hot iron.
'Did I overestimate him?' Diego asked himself in his thoughts.
He then approached and towered above me.
"Seems like this is your limit. You should quit that fight when you get the chance." Diego resigns and leaves me alone, but not before:
"Alencon leaves himself open when he winds up to make a wave. McKenna can expose himself from his duplicates, just watch his eyes. If you find yourself in a situation where surrender isn't an option... Just remember what I said." He said before leaving me gasping for air.
What is the deal with these guys?
I sat upright and used my telekinesis to stimulate the cells for recovery. Diego Narukami. Must be weird that one of the powerful and popular kids would just wipe the floor with me. And I was hoping, not to get involved with him any further. But plans... They change.
As I head back to the classroom, I heard there was a commotion between the students of Class-A. Everyones minds were buzzing with excitement. And I heard the situation.
'Argent McKenna is having a fight with Elios Noan.'
Let the Games begin :D
My mind was racing, and my heart was burning... Why? Elios would never fight as long as no one provokes him. So why? I got to the front of the Lune Building, Argent McKenna, his proud grin and his gleeful gray eyes, was standing picturesque on the lying body of Elios. My little brother. His face all beaten up, blue patches were dominant on his face, and... was that blood coming out of his forehead? 'Don't tell me you're still thinking on calming down?' SNAP! Something, I don't know what, cracked like a whip inside me. Blood was rushing towards my whole face, my whole body shuddered and felt hot. Even the pain from my encounter with Diego didn't mattered. I think I just popped a vein... What was this? 'Well... This is a new side of you. Anxiety out, in comes unbridled-' Fury. I feel it now... It felt... Uncontrollable. I made my way towards the center but a hand suddenly grabs me and drags me away. I didn't look at who was dragging me away because I was keen on saving Elios. "Let
I only felt cold. My body ached all over. My eyes feel heavier than usual, opening them proved too difficult. I can only remember the fight, me mercilessly injuring Argent McKenna, almost hurtling a psychic infused meteor at Vann... Even Elios' horrified face.'You're awful...' Elios' voice said in the darkness.'We never expected you to be that bloodthirsty... were you pretending to be a kind person?' Conner's face materialized in the darkness. His fear and worry was so uncanny I gulped in nervousness.'N-no! I'm not like that!!' I reasoned out but my voice was carried off by the dream.'Big red... You... You're scary. We don't want to be your brother anymore." Keith's voice said as it fades in the darkness."NO!"I sat upbolt, surprising Elios and Halcyon. Elios was still in a wheelchair and his face was still covered in a bandage. His expression was one of deep concern. I suddenly hugged him, my whole body shivering from fear and relief."B-big red... are you okay?" Elios asked, hi
Kaiser Ysvelt Daymore. A name that strikes fear to the whole student body. Firstly, his persuasion. Politics, debates, and even contract negotiations. He has it playing carefully and uncontestably at his fingertips. Next, his martial prowess, he's held the position of student council president for 4 years now, and not once did he lose to a fight, whether in words or by fists. And lastly, and the most dangerous, is his ability. While most of House Daymore had light-based abilities, like Lady Emma said, Kaiser deviated from his family line, and instead gained his ability to mimic abilities. With that ability, he became the most versatile ability user, and as such, the most dangerous opponent. Now that dangerous person, was using Theo's ability to root me in place. What did I get into this time?He sat down, and moved the untouched chocolate drink Theo ordered, he was smiling, but underneath that smile was unmistakble vehemence and revulsion. The signs of an elitist. And a sign that I wa
That afternoon, when Blake warned me of Kaiser's threat, it really was happening in real time. The Class-A students were vicious, at one time at lunch, they trampled on my foot and didn't even apologized. They cut in line as if I was invisible to them. Worse of all... They ganged up on me.Three kids, (I didn't even want to name them) loaded on their Geokinesis on me, splattering me with sand, mud, and hard stones. Next, the daughter of the Bevel family threw knives at my direction, and she even told me I was getting in the way of her target practice. Then finally, at Physical Education, every single person either brushed their elbows, knees, and kicks my ribs, my thighs, my gut, and my shin.'This... god damn president.' I held it in. I can't let this get to me. Kaiser told me that if I step out of line... I'll be in something worse.I got home all sore and battered. But not before getting black tea. I needed the extra drink if I want to relax a bit. Under the night sky of Clandesca,
'Hey... it's your boy, Impulse. Are you sure attacking the student council is the best course of action?' You know it's bad when your own impulsivity is questioning your actions. But I said to myself; consequences be damned, I didn't do anything, yet why did Elios became like that? Anger flooded my senses, all I could think of was getting revenge. And those who hide Kaiser from me, will suffer my wrath. The student council members were gasping for air as I levitated them from their feet, sky blue energy enveloped their necks and mouths. "Where is he? Where is that Son of a Bitch?!" I shouted and sent a pulse of energy, their eyes were overtaken by the same energy as the ones that is strangling them. The voices from their heads are rushing towards me like a flood, all of them are saying the same thing: 'He's insane!' 'This guy's got a death wish.' "Maybe you need more persuasion." I said and released another pulse of energy, some of them were now having bloody nostrils, while ot
"So in other words you want me to make Elios hate me?"I tried my best not to shout but this is about Elios' future. Why is he handing me the future of my little brother to me? And Elios always dreamed to study in Lupus Alma, are they just telling me to make my brother quit his dream?!"Marc, I know this is a tall order. But think of it as a way to protect your brother." Doctor Belforma tried to convince me."I don't want to hurt my brother's feelings. This isn't fair. Not to me, and certainely not to him!" I said flatly."Marc...""Don't make me do this." I walked out towards the balcony, the setting sun was dreary and the clouds were moving slowly. So this is what it means to be sad. Time seems to slow down and the day just wouldn't end. Then I sensed someone approach from behind, it was Doctor Belforma. Looking all haggard and pensive with my mood.He didn't say a word but instead, he offered a stick of cigarette."I don't smoke Doc." I said pensievely."Don't worry, it doesn't hav
6:45 pm... I got to the gym 15 minutes too early. The Alley Ring, despite its crude name, it lives up to its reputation as a perfect training ground for underdogs. Still... Vann was making a weird face when I accepted the invite. Still I entered the building, and was immediately greeted by a blast of red lightning. Fortunately, it missed me by an inch, but it did frazzled my hair a bit. The person who shot that blast was wearing a black sleeveless training gear. His golden hair was cut in a pixie style, and his crimson eyes crackled with energy. He looked like he was in his mid-20's. "Woah, sorry about that! I guess the barrier was turned off!" He said with an apologetic grin. Why does he look familiar? "It's alright. I should be the one to say sorry, coming in 15 minutes early is a wee bit much ain't it?" I shook my head and he extends his hand for me to shake. "I'm er... Seth. Yeah, Seth. Nice to meet you." He said. 'Almost gave away my real name.' His mind said, he must be rea
Blake Anthony Mathis.I once read that he was a powerful pyromancer and practitioner of lost martial arts. Guess the resource material wasn't exaggerated.Blake's attacks were fluid, dangerous, and extremely precise. His flames were all burning azure, mesmerizing flames scattered like petals in a summer breeze; elegant, but deadly.I had a hard time fighting the guy, aside from his flames, he was a practitioner in close quarter combats. His fists connected with my face everytime I tried to levitate an object off the ground, or he would break my focus by blasting a wave of heat and fire."Get serious with me Noan." Blake shouted as I blocked his fist encased in flames with my ability. Eventhough I didn't make contact with it, it was still burning and damaging my hands. "Or is your resolve to avenge Elios that weak?"That hit a nerve..."Screw it." I snarled and tossed Blake aside with my psychokinesis, the sky blue energy wrapped around his body prevented him from being too hurt from t
