The blacksmith

Chapter 3

Jay POV

He halted as soon as he saw us,his eyes revealed surprise.

I was watching his every move and expression.

"Who are you?" His voice gave a deadly feeling 

"You must be the blacksmith here?"I returned his question with a question

 " Yes I am,do you need help?" He looked from me to Frank.

I turned to Frank and saw he was sweating 

'Idiot ' I know this man is oppressing but Frank is easily scared too

I nudged him.

"You ok?" He nodded and I scoffed,he bullied the real Jay a lot but he can't stand a Murderer.

I focused on who I'm here for 

"I need a knife,and cutlass" I saw his expression frozen. He recovered almost immediately.

"Ok,it a dollars for knife,$5 for cutlass" 

"That is quite cheap" I grinned 

"I need it tonight? Can I get it?" I stared at him,our gaze lingered a bit before he smiled.

Since we entered this building, this is the first time he smiled.I got chills on my back and almost broke a sweat but am I not Frank?

"Yes you can,wait there" he directed us to a shabby table,the table and chairs looked old in fact everything here looked old.

I sat down and Frank did the same,he set to work.

Except for the metals and iron everywhere was silent it gave an eerily feeling.

"Jay this man is scary" Frank whispered 

"I know right,that is why I am more convinced we are at the right place" he watched as we whispered.

His hawk-like eyes were all over me and Frank.

"What are we to do now? We can't possibly……"

"Shhhsh" I placed my finger on my lips to shut Frank up

"What?" He looked confused 

"Did you hear that?" I asked him

"Hear what? Stop scaring me" Frank was looking really scared.

 I glanced at the Blacksmith

"Did you hear that?" I threw the bait at him.

"Hear what?" He also forged a puzzled expression but it was awkward. I can tell it's fake.

 "Someone just called for help" I continued without shifting my gaze from him.

He stiffen,but slowly loosing up

"You must be hearing things" he laughed and Frank grabbed my hand

"Stop annoying him,he might…."

"Act like a man Frank" I hissed.

 "I don't know if you see someone for me,have been looking for her for the past 4 months,she left home on Christmas day to make a kitchen knife and since then she went missing" I was waiting to see his reaction.

"I don't know her, I don't have many customers so I can remember them all" he answered without much reaction.

"Think well,if you see her you will know,she stood up the most in crowd,she's pretty,her height is about this" I used my hand to demonstrate the height

"I don't…."

"She's fair and…." 

"I said I don't see any girl,whether pretty,fair,brown hair or stunning I don't see anyone" he lashed out.

I hide my smile,it always work,make them worked up then let them confess themselves 

"I never said she has brown hair though,but she does, how did you know?" I looked at him like I was confused.

 He went silent,he must be thinking on what to say

"Have seen a lot of people with brown hair" he was more calm this time.

"Ohhh I see, then you must haven't seen her,I am also looking for another person,she's….."

"I don't see her" he fired before I could say anything.

"Allow me to explain,this one is also fair,pretty and I think she's about the same height as the other one,ohhh they have different faces though,her hair is also brown,the other one has an oval face while she has a round face."

"None of them have round faces," he muttered but I heard.

"What did you mean, none of them?" I relaxed,I caught him anyways all this is just to buy time till Ariel get here

 "When did I say that?" His eyes has now changed,it was red and I sat with weary

His aura already turned dangerous 

"You just that just now" I smirked 

"I meant my consumers none of them had round face"

"Oh really?" I was amused as he quickly changed his mouth.

  "Why are you interested in my consumers anyways?"

"I told you someone is missing" I glared at him.

"What does that have to do with me?"

"They vanished after setting their foot here" 

"And?" He was now grinning creepily.

"I think you know the answer"

He laughed out loud,he was laughing continuously

"You let us out" Frank complained 

"That's what you do when dealing with people like them,he will know even if we don't tell him" I explained to him while the man continued laughing crazily.

 "So you knew all along,I'm the one who usually play the game I can't believe you just played me" he moved towards the fire and brought out the hot iron he was melting 

He looked in my direction and I can tell what he was thinking

"You won't hit me with that will you?" I asked and obvious,he didn't answer but charged towards 

"Fuck!" I cursed and stood up from the chair and ran

"Jay!" Frank yelled and he followed me

The man was like a wild bear

He was really fast,he chased after us

I felt something hot passed by my ear 

"Shit that almost burns me" he swung the iron again.

  I dodged and managed to escape another burn.

I was already cornered now and Frank is nowhere to be found.

"Keep that down and let's talk like civilized beings" i plead

His eyes were blaming red,and he was chuckling excitedly.

"You might be my next game,it will be fun playing with you,and you will be the first male what an honor" This man went mad,his eyes sparkling as he thought of what to do with me.

'Where is Ariel? Any moment from now I will also become one of his play thing' I shivered at my thought

He raised the iron,it is not as hot as before but it is still hot and will scrape my fine skin.

Every seconds that passed my brain was calculating how to dodge and overpower him

Just when the iron was a inch to me

I kicked him in his abdomen

"Ahhh!" He let out a groan and I quickly punch him,the iron dropped 

I know my punches are powerful,I aren't a gangster for nothing 

I continued throwing punches

I stopped when I saw he fell down

I was panting,gosh it was hard to beat him down,I thought I managed to knock him out who would have thought he was waiting for me to let my guards down.

"Bang" his fist might my eyes 

"Fuck you!" I screamed 

He held me by my jacket and hitted me repeatedly 

I tried to fight back

'Damn his power is above mine,I've been a gangster for nothing I can't even beat a man' 

I wanted to drop his hand pulling me by my jacket but he's damn strong

 Blood was oozing out of my nose,mouth and my head was pounding 

It was hard keeping my conscious 

Just when I almost passed out.

"Your hands up" I heard that sweet voice 

I know it Ariel

"You were late" I whined even though I can't see well

"You hands up" she half yelled 

The blacksmith slowly dropped me 

 I was dizzy and in pain

'Shit he deals with metals after all'

 He suddenly drag me up and strangle me 

"If you don't let me go,he will die" he said in warning tone

Ariel pupils shrink and my colleague soon joined her 

They are all with gun

"Shoot him,he won't be able to kill me before…." The blacksmith added more force to my neck and I had hard time breathing 

"Shoot..him" I said through gritted teeth

"If you shoot he will be gone with me" He threatened

He put me in the front of his body so they won't be able to shoot.Ariel was shaking.she must be confuse

"Ariel look at me" I ordered and she look into my eyes 

I winked and she got the message 

 I stomp my leg on his foot. He realized me and I bent while Aerial shot.

 "Ahhh!" He yelped and fell down

I was thinking it was a real gun and it turns out it was an electric gun to knock him out.

 I collapsed on the floor,trying to catch my breath.

"Cuff him" Ariel commanded and they handcuffed him and carried him.

He was quite huge so it took about 5 people to take him to the car.

 "You ok?" Ariel voice drift into my ear

"Of course I'm not,if you were a little more late I could have…."

"I'm sorry" I was stunned,this is the first time Ariel looked worried and sorry.

From Jay's memory Ariel isn't the one to apologize.

"It ok"I tried to stand up and almost fell,but she supported me.

It felt pleasant,just because in one case this woman is showing her gentle side.

"let's get you to the hospital" muttering under her breath,she pulled me closer.

"I need to interrogate that guy first" 

"But you are hurt" she looked pained 

"As soon as am done I will go to the hospital,but I must finish this case"

"But….."

"Please Ariel" I pleaded,she sighed and gave up.

"Ok " 

"Wait" something clicked in my mind just now

"What?" Ariel was getting annoyed 

"The next victim,I heard her call for help,she must be here,find her" I elaborated

"Ohhh,I will do that,you can go to the station and make that guy confess" Ariel passed me to Frank.

"You left me all alone," I snapped at Frank.

"It is not intentional,it…."

"Hold it, let's just go" I don't let him explain,we got into the car and left for the station.

I looked at the back of the car and saw the blacksmith is not yet awake

'Gosh I'm almost dead,Police are as dangerous as gangsters.'
