A New Home

It's been a number of days since Rio had  been taken into the van. He wast sure exactly how long it had been as the only time he could see outside was the few times that he was provided food.

During this time he became more accustomed to his new ability.

Whenever he had the energy, he would practise resonating with Vector and Zack.

Resonating with Vector gave him more knowledge on guns than he ever wished to know. It was almost as if Vector was some kind of gun nut. Although it also proved useful as his mind was also full of combat strategy and tips.

Resonating with Zack was even more interesting as his benefits were less instructive.

He didn't have the knowledge that Vector had but he more than made up for this in his physiology.

Resonating with Zack allowed Rio to manipulate his body similar to Zack. he could liquefy portions of his body at will along with being able to manipulate his now liquefied body.

Rio was going to try resonating with Jeremy but quickly decided against it.

What he did do was have his servants resonate with each other.

He wanted them to get used to the feeling as soon as possible.

Especially since this might be the best chance as there was minimal visual on all four of them.

Now That he had  sufficient practice, it was about time for him to make his escape.

He already had a plan set out in his mind.

He knew that his servants were traveling alongside him as his resonate ability was able to reach them. This meant that getting them out was as easy as simply bringing them into the void.

The problem was how he was going to get out. Luckily he had a plan for this.

Rio resonates with Zack and escapes from his cage by turning his body to water. He flattens himself as much as possible as if he was just a puddle on the ground.

He then pulls all of his servants into the void and waits.

Not long after, he felt the vans motion stop and shout loudly outside.

3 guards wearing casual clothing opened the doors and upon seeing the empty cage they began searching the interior of the van.

They search for about 5 minutes before one of the men slams their fist against the interior and leads the other two outside.

He can hear them ordering each other to search the perimeter as he lets out a chuckle in his mind.

If he knew it would be this easy he wouldn't have given this plan so much thought.

After about 10 more minutes he is no longer able to hear any sounds nearby.

"I guess they must be searching high and low for us. It's kind of sad really."

Rio reforms his body and acts quickly before any of the guards can return.

He has Vector open the van from the inside and leaps out onto the pavement.

He stretches his body out and takes a good look around.

He was no longer in the forest and was now in a busy city.

The van that he was in was tucked away in the back of a parking lot along with 3 others.

The city was bright and full of life as people rushed about their day.

Returning Vector to the void, Rio continues on foot.

It would be a hassle to travel as a group in fear of being spotted.

He would at least be a bit safer in his small body.

Rio makes his way out of the parking lot and begins following along the side of the road, making sure to watch out for any panicked persons searching about.

Everything seemed fine for a while until he heard a shriek from behind.

Startled, he turned around quickly to spot a girl running towards him.

She picks him up and hugs him tightly before he can comprehend what's happening.

A woman walks up from behind the girl and scolds her.

"Put him down, You don't know who's dog that is!"

"But mom. No one's here. We can't just leave him outside like this."

"No one said anything about leaving him outside. Just put him down and I'm sure his owners will take him back home."

"But what if he was abandoned. He is so small. He wouldn't survive. You wouldn't want to just leave such a cute dog all alone would you?"

Rio watches this unfold and tries to escape but is too weak to get away.

The older woman sighs. "Fine, we'll take the dog home with us for now. But as soon as his owner comes looking for him you will have to say goodbye. We are not stealing this dog after all. You got it!"

Rio felt conflicted for a second but when he looked at the young girl he couldn't help but smile..

She reminded him of his daughter. The daughter that grew up under his watch. The same daughter who had her father taken from her at such a young age. If he was still able to see her, she might be around this girl's age.

Rio stops struggling and reminiscences about his past family.

All the while the girl is holding Rio and walking down the street.

Before he knew it he was being let out of the girl's arms.

focusing back on reality, Rio's body suddenly jerks as the girl drops him.

"Oww! What the heck?" Rio yelps as he stands up.

The girl quickly apologizes as the woman rushes over to check on him.

"Don't just drop the dog on the ground! It's not a toy!" She scolds the girl.

Rio's anger fades as he begins to feel the soft carpeted floor on his paws.

After being on the move for so long, it feels nice to have a soft place to rest.

He sits down and looks at the girl who is still apologizing.

After a few seconds, a man's voice can be heard coming from up the stairs.

Welcome back Rachel, how was your trip with your mother.

Rachel looks at Rio and gives him a quick hug before going upstairs to meet her father.

Rio turns to the woman and tilts his head.

The woman picks him up and takes him up the stairs with her.

"Who is that little guy? The man asks as he sees them coming up the stairs.

"Don't worry. We aren't keeping him. We are just holding on to him for now. Once his Owners look for him we plan to take him back."

The woman places Rio gently onto the floor.

"Despite finding him on the street he seems pretty well behaved. And Rachel seems to really like him." She adds.

"Well then I guess there's nothing else to do but Head to the store. We can't let this little guy go hungry now can we? The man jokes, giving a wink to his wife which leaves her just as confused as Rio.

And with that, the man headed into a room and came back out with a set of keys.

Giving his wife a kiss on the cheek, he opens the entrance door and leaves the house.

"Well, I hope you're not expecting me to take care of this little guy for you. He's your problem now."

The mom leaves into the far room leaving Rio and Rachel alone.

"I guess it's just you and me." She says picking him up and taking him into a bright room full of different figurines and books.

Rio starts to take in his surroundings.

There's a couch and bookshelf filled with different books and magazines, all of of which have weird names on the spines.

The walls are completely covered in paintings of various kinds as well.

They are all different characters that are unfamiliar to Rio, but he knows one thing for sure.

This girl sure has some odd tastes.
