Overachiever

Jumping out from the chest of an anomaly, Rio landed upon a mass of water.

The water had risen so much that the streets were submerged and his small body would soon have to begin swimming through it.

It had been 10 days since the start of the event and Rio could feel it.

Every part of his body was sore and he was exhausted.

For every one he took down, there were always two more to take their place.

Although his stamina was naturally high in his current body, He still felt his legs shaking just from standing.

Just as he thought that he could rest, He could  see more anomalies rising from the waves.

Rio had spent some time observing the anomalies within this event for a while. His curiosity to discover the mysteries within the town was far too great and he couldn't help but experiment as much as possible with this once in a lifetime opportunity.

During his experiment he discovered that the town had a sort of hard reset.

The new entities that take over appeared to have formed themselves within the rain as it hit the ground.

After taking shape, These anomalies ruthlessly hunted down anyone who's composition did not mimic their own.

They could perfectly mimic human speech and seemed to be extremely adamant that they were the real inhabitants of the town and that everyone else were violent intruders.

To protect their town from the intruders the mass of anomalies marched through the streets killing any and all people they deemed evil.

Rio was fascinated by the anomalies' actions. They committed an endless amount of pain and destruction to all others under the guise of self defense.

In a way, it reminded him of humanity.

Humans also kill each other because of jealousy, anger, pride, and fear.

It made him wonder if there was something to learn from these creatures.

Although, that thought didn't last as his small body was slammed into the wall by one of the anomalies.

"You shouldn't have come here you little monster!" The anomaly yelled at Rio.

"Yeah, yeah. That's what you all say."

Rio flipped onto his feet narrowly avoiding another strike from the anomaly.

The anomalies arms flung around wildly.

The way they moved was not possible for a normal human but as Rio noticed earlier, these anomalies lacked the proper organs or bones needed to support the body.

They were entirely made of a liquid similar in appearance to water.

Rio had originally passed the liquid off as water until he tried to drink it.

Upon drinking the liquid, Rio immediately began to spit it out.

He didn't have the tools necessary to fully analyze the composition of the liquid but it tasted like a mixture of  urine and fecal matter.

It appeared that the anomalies only gained the proper body structures of humans at the end of the event, If at all.

As the anomaly swung its right arm toward Rio's head, Rio dodged with ease.

The anomaly struck the wall where he stood moments before.

Before it could strike again, Rio slammed its hoof into the anomalies' legs knocking it off.

as the anomaly fell to the ground, Rio stomped down on its head, bursting it as if it was a balloon.

Despite their immense power, The anomalies themselves were relatively weak in structure.

Rio quickly turned to another anomaly that had begun approaching from behind.

Rio dashed forward jumping onto a table.

From the table, he jumps onto the anomalies shoulder, biting down.

It quickly lashed out at Rio, trying to free itself from his grip.

Rio held tightly and growled as the anomaly continued to struggle in vain.

His teeth sunk deep into the flesh of the anomaly's shoulder.

The anomaly screamed, its face turning blue as it struggled even harder.

With every thrash of its arms, it struck the nearby tables and chairs.

Rio held firm and ripped its head off of its body causing the body to collapse.

Shaking his head, Rio turned to another anomaly that was approaching.

Rio was about to charge it when it stopped moving.

Rio stood confused for a moment until he looked upwards.

The storm had stopped and the sun began to peer through the clouds.

"Finally, it's over. But S rank. don't you think that's a bit much? Not that I'm complaining of course."

"Don't be modest, You truly deserve this rank" Alberoth responds. "You spent every day fighting non-stop. You have more than proven that you deserve this rank."

"Well thank you. If I may ask, what does this evolution stone do?"

"Simple, with that stone, you will be able to evolve into a stronger form which specializes in certain traits. How about you take a look. All you have to do is think about evolving to activate it."

Rio's smile widens at the thought of growing in power and begins concentrating without a moment's rest.
