Inside the warship of the association, Mistique was slamming her fists against the wall.
"How is this happening? Why are they losing against one man?"
She was checking the heat scanners as she saw the fate of her subordinates.
"Is this the strength of the most wanted man in the cosmos?"
She had sent waves after wave of hunters to the Ebon Phantom, but the result was the same.
They were beaten and knocked out with single blows by one man.
Mistique was unaware of the fact that it wasn't Victor who was beating up her crew. "I guess I'll just have to go there myself."...
Victor had a bucket of popcorn in front of him as he and Xing indulged themselves with the sight of a one-sided beatdown. They watched as bodies flew everywhere.
"Ack, how is he so strong!?"
"He has the rarest Astral Spectrum!"
"But it was white moments ago because he was a C-Grade hunter!"
The hunters tried to make sense of Tyson's awakened powers, but they all failed to get another word or thought in as Tyson bashed their heads with his fists.
His eyes depicted the bent-up rage and frustration he developed with the association.
"I'll bring the association to its knees!"
Tyson was unleashing his fury on the hunters that invaded their ship. Reinforcements came but
"Captain," Xing said.
"Yes, I sense a powerful energy aboard the cruiser."
Victor grinned as he stood up with Xing following suit.
"Finally, the showrunner decides to grace us with their presence."
Tyson was facing off against the last wave of the hunters. There were 4 of them and each man was armed with a sword."Who's first?" Tyson cracked his knuckles.
The hunters were reluctant to take a step into the lion's den. It was understandable too. They had just witnessed that man knock out dozens of their comrades with single blows.
"Tck, they all charged at you in turn. We'll get him at once!" One of the hunters said as they prepared themselves to attack him at the same time.
Tyson raised his guard and took a stance similar to a boxer. "Whenever you're ready."
"Well," One of the hunters said. "Let's attack him already."
They gritted their teeth and dashed forward with their swords.
"Take this!"
Tyson sidestepped the first attacker. "Too slow."
He grabbed him by the neck and lifted him up with relative ease.
"Ahhhhh!" The second hunter came swinging his blade from the side. Tyson quickly used the man he picked up as a shield as the blade cut through his chest.
"What, no!"
"Your turn."
Bam! He slammed the slashed hunter against his comrade.
"Why is this happening?"
"How can one man be so powerful?"
The two hunters left lost their will to fight and plopped to their knees while dropping their weapons.
"I don't know how I got this power," Tyson looked at his hands. The black astral skin resonated with every fiber in his being. "It's amazing. I feel..." He clenched his fists and looked over at the pile of bodies he left. "Invincible!"
"You..." A female voice drenched with spite said. Tyson turned in the direction of the familiar voice. He clenched his teeth, his astral skin throbed with the beating rage of his heart.
"Oh my," Said Victor. "Xing, hand me that popcorn." The android diligently adhered to his captain's request and handed him the bucket of popcorn.
He leaned against thr wall and poured a handful in his mouth. "This is better than the sequel of the Revengers." He laughs.
"You!" Tyson shouts with every ounce of fury in him. He points at the woman with long red hair.
Mistique widened her eyes, it was as if she'd seen a ghost.
"I-impossible! How're you still alive?"
"I'm surprised you recognize me."
She recognized Tyson from the ranks of the hunters that she was ordered to kill.
"B-but I left you drifting in space. How did you survive!?"
Nothing was making sense to the A-Grade hunter. Here she was boarding the ship of the enemy thinking that it was Victor who had beaten all her subordinates, yet to her wildest imagination, it was none other than a C-Grade hunter who was nothing short of a ghost.
"How?" She repeated, not choosing to believe what she'd seen.
"I was rescued after you left me for dead, witch." Tyson walked up to her until he stood face to face with her, the woman who killed his comrades and friends.
Mistique looked past the white-haired man, spotting the pile of bodies he had left.
"That doesn't explain how a weakling like you was able to beat up more than a dozen of my men. They were all B-Grades!"
"I don't care. Now, it's your turn!" Tyson clenched his Astro gear. He had it with him the entire time but sought no use for it. He used his fist to bash through the heads of the hunters.
Mistique's body glowed a faint red light. It was her astral skin that had engulfed her.
"Oh," Victor uttered.
"Shouldn't we interfere, captain?" Xing was worried an A-Grade hunter would be too much for Tyson.
"No," Victor replied, taking another handful of popcorn. "I want to see how this goes. After all, he hasn't died after touching his modified Astro tech."
Mistique points her blade at Tyson.
"I'll show you the power of a true hunter!"
"I'll show you creeps the power of a true hunter!"
Mistique swung her blade forward with full force. Tyson sidestepped her thanks to his boosted reflexes.
She clicked her tongue and went further with her assault. Not dialing down a bit, she continued with a flurry of swings, yet Tyson avoided each one with little to no difficulty.
Mistique gritted her teeth. "How are you doing that?"
"Are you getting scared?"
"Scared?" Mistique scoffed. How dare a measly C-Grade talk to her like that. "I will make your death slow and painful."
She swings her sword again with more ferocity than before.
'Everything feels so slow.' He was amazed by his newfound abilities as he avoided her attack once again.Tyson smirked, seeing the agitation on Mistique's face. He was enjoying the way he was tormenting her.
"What's with the smug on your face?" A vein had popped on the A-Grade's face.
"This?" Tyson pointed to his face. "Oh, nothing. It's just... I love the face you make. It's the same face I had when you were killing my comrades. It's the same face your subordinates had when I cracked their heads." Tyson smacked his lips. "Fear. That's what it is."
Mistique felt like screaming from the bottom of her chest. There were already a lot of things going on in her mind.
How did a C-grade hunter develop black astral skin?
"What would the flag master do if he finds out that one of the trash he asked me to dispose of survived?" She muttered to herself.
A chill ran through her spine at the mere thought of what her superior would do to her if he were to find out that she did a sloppy job.
"I plan on rectifying that error, by taking your head. And then, I'll come for you!" She declared, pointing her blade at Victor who was now lying on the floor with a handful of popcorn.
"Woah there missy," He waved his hands after stuffing his face with popcorn. "Shouldn't you focus on the task at hand?"
"Huh?"
"Bind!"
"Ack!" Tyson trapped Musty with his whip.
"You'd attack an opponent when she wasn't paying attention?"
"Are you really going to lecture me about etiquette? You, the same woman who ruthlessly killed innocence?"
"Tck," Mistique's astral skin thickens as she forced herself out of the bind.
Tyson withdrew his whip back to its compartment.
"You use such pathetic Astro tech."
She cuts forward but once again, Tyson sidesteps her. This time, he had no intention of toying with her. He threw a fast jab that connected with her face.
Mistique was sent flying with his punch as she crashed into the wall.
Tyson widened his eyes. His body had started getting used to his new powers thanks to the B-Grades he used as a punching back.
The punch he threw just now, however, was more powerful than anything he'd done.
"Is it because..." He looked over at Mistique who had gotten back on his feet.
Tyson shrugged as he wore a grin on his face. Not wasting any more time, he sprinted to the dazed A-grade.
"Take this!" He threw another punch with more tenacity. Mistique yelled and ducked at the nick of time as his fist smashed through the wall.
"Oy!" Victor jolted up. "Be careful, would ya? I won't forgive you if you hurt Stally!" He warned, while waving his fist angrily in the air.
Tyson paid no heed to the man as he was focused on his hand.
"Just right now, this feeling..." He was further understanding his new power.
"There was a faint glow whenever I threw a punch. The astral around my knuckles thickens before making contact."
Tyson burst into a stream of maniacal laughter as Mistique looked on with horror.
'H-he punched a hole through the wall of the Stallion! On the reports, it was stated to be made of one of the hardest metals known, Fellium!' She gasped.
'I can't do that. Not even with my Astro tech!'
Tyson focused his sight back on Mistique. She takes a step back as he creeps forward.
His demeanor was terrifying. She was frightened by his power.
"One punch." She muttered to herself. "If I take one hit from him, I'm dead!"
Mistique had faced countless criminals with unique abilities and strengths, but she had never witnessed a power like this.
She scurried to the other side of the room until her back was against thr wall.
"Nowhere to run now." Tyson grinned as he balled his fists.
"Clench your teeth," He said to her before leaping forward with his knuckles.
"No!!" Mistique cried from the bottom of her lungs.
"Ebon Bash!" He shouted as his fist made contact with her face.
Thud!
"Huh?"
"Eh?"
"Oh, my," Victor uttered while raising his head. "This is bad."
Mistique was perfectly fine.
Tyson had a puzzling look on his face as his punch did not hurt the woman.
"Eh!?" He exclaimed after looking at his body. The black energy coating that had engulfed him was completely depleted.
"My astral skin, it's gone!" He panicked.
Mistique was glued to the wall as she tilted her head in confusion. She didn't know what had happened, but she was certain, Tyson's attack became a dud.
"What's the matter?" Tyson raised his head to be met with the murderous look on Mistique's face.
He began sweating bullets, and before he could move...
Bam!
Her fist flashed before his eyes as he was sent flying to the other side of the room.
"That was for earlier." She cracked her knuckles. Mistique wore a malicious grin on her face. It was time for payback.
She sprints forward. Picking her sword, she charges at the stunned Tyson.
"Xing."
"Yes, captain!"
Clank!
Xing moved blinding fast and caught the blade right before it could slash through Tyson.
"Tck, stupid bo-" Before she could finish, Xing struck her on her solar plexus knocking her out in the process.
"Nice work, Xing!" Victor gave the android a cheerful thumbs-up.
"What do we do now captain?"
They glanced over at Tyson and noticed that he had lost consciousness.
"That power wore him out." He pointed.
"It's remarkable that he lasted that long while in that state. It was his first time too."
"Yup, he might not look it, but he has potential."
"Are you sure it's not his rage that drives him, captain?"
"Who knows, we'll find out soon enough." He looked at Mistique. "Tie her up and toss her in the cell room."
"What about the other bodies sir?"
Victor wore a malicious look on his face. His usual cheerful demeanor was completely gone.
"Toss them overboard, but strip them of their Astro techs first."
"Yes, captain."
Victor walked over to Tyson and picked him up. "Let's get you to a room where you can rest up. I've decided, I'll have you accompany me, snow-white."
"Where am I?" Tyson found himself in an odd place. It was plain white, and he could not see the ceiling or walls. "What is this place? Is it a dream?" He walked around the place for what felt like an hour trying to reach the end. "Last thing I recalled was fighting that witch." He uttered, clenching his fist. "And I lost." "Argh!!!" He shouted from the bottom of his lungs. "It's so frustrating. I had her in my clutches and what did I do?" He yanked his hair. "I toyed with her, I had the power to end her with a single strike, I knew I did." He continued walking through the infinite space. "Wait, what happened after she knocked me out? What if I die and this is the afterlife?" He plopped to his knees. Tyson balls up his fist and slammed the floor, making an odd "Thud" sound. "I'm such a loser!" He shouted, feeling nothing but rage and regret. He continued slamming the floor. "Only a loser will die like that..." Tyson paused. "What's the point? This has always been the law of
"Huff. Huff.""You're almost there..." Victor was holding a stopwatch to keep a record of how long Tyson could keep his astral skin on."This is annoying!" Tyson was getting tired and angry. Keeping the black astral skin on took a lot of mental focus which placed a strain on him."I'm afraid you're going to have to deal with it, snow-white."The first lesson for Tyson was to learn how to properly use his astral skin."You wouldn't want a repeat of what happened the other time now, would you?"Tyson clicked his tongue. As much as he'd hate to admit it, Victor was right. There was no point in being stubborn. The black astral skin is one of the rarest Spectrums that a person can harness. It provides an incredible buff in strength and speed as shown by Tyson when he easily took care of over a dozen B-Grade bounty hunters. He would have beaten the A-Grade Mistique too had he not exhausted his astral."I appreciate you going through the trouble to help me but... Do I have to do it in this p
LOCATION: RED WINE GALAXY, PLANET DARTH. "Okay, I think my nose just died." Tyson pinched his nose as he and Victor walked through the cyberpunk-style planet."What? Nonsense, that's the adventure you're perceiving, snow-white." Victor deeply inhales and breathes out through his mouth. "If this is what adventure smells like... I'd rather take my chances with a black hole."Victor smirked. "Well, if you want. You can go back to the ship to help Xing with some maintenance."Tyson felt a chill run through his spine. The mere thought of working with the android whom he despised made him feel like throwing up. Or maybe, it's the surrounding stench. "I hate you," he muttered. "What's that?" Victor perked his ears."What are we doing here anyway?" Tyson scanned their surroundings. They were currently at a marketplace. "This place is filled with notorious criminals... Pirates, mercenaries and thieves. I recognize most of them from the bounty hunter wanted list in the database." "It's nor
"Finally!" Tyson exclaimed as he spread his arms apart. "I can breathe fresh air again!" He, Victor and Zera have made their way back to the Ebon Phantom."Well?" Victor turned to the vampire. "What do you think of Stally?" He asked with a grin as he puffed out his chest.Zera scanned the cruiser momentarily before setting her gaze back to its captain. "She's as vibrant as ever." She remarked with a smile. Tyson wore a stoic expression as he glanced at the two. 'Why are they talking as if the cruiser is a living thing?'Just then, Xing approached them."Xing..." Zera said in a cold tone.Tyson felt a chill run down his spine. She gave off the same vibe as earlier when they met. The look was aimed at the android, yet he felt restless."Zera..." Xing responded similarly."I see Jackie still hasn't taken you for recycling.""I see you're still trying to pass off as a young and beautiful woman despite being an old hag."A vein popped in the vampire's head. Zera gritted her teeth and lea
"And that is everything I know, my mistress."Mistique was kneeling in front of the Ebon Phantom crew."Good servant." Zera patted her head. The A-grade hunter had become her slave and lost all her free will. Her irises were devoid of life, she was like a mindless zombie."That was easy," Tyson stated."Hmm..." Victor rubbed his chin. "Did you get all that, Xing?" He turned to the android. After Zera warped the hunter's mind. She commanded her to tell them all the information she had about the BHA.Mistique rambled for nearly an hour and thus, it proved difficult for them to recall everything she said."Good thing Xing has an inbuilt recorder." Said Tyson. He crept closer to the mindless Mistique and squatted to her level."How does it feel to be the pawn now, witch?" He said with a satisfied smug on his face. "Ehem." Zera stretched her hand out to Victor. "I've done my role. Now, pay up." "Of course, the payment." Victor glanced over at Xing and nods his head. "Xing brought over a

He saluted to the Flag master who had his hands around his back. They were in the office of the Flagmaster."For the honour of the BSA, I will uphold my duties with the utmost diligence, Sir!""Yeah yeah," Harold lit up a cigarette."Onto more pressing matters." He tossed the new commander an odd device."The last commander, and your former superior, Kane was a loudmouth who failed to gather a good team. I hope you won't disappoint me as he did."Sirius gulped. He was well aware of what had happened to the former commander. He never liked Kane and always viewed him as a goal. Although that was the case, he'd never imagined the commander to face such an end at the hand of the Flag master."Kane was feeble-minded and slow when it comes to getting the job done. He believed in giving the weak a chance to seize power. I belie

Because of this, the inhabitants of the planets were known throughout the cosmos for producing renowned doctors and healers who could heal almost all diseases."Finally landed." Victor's mini-cruiser had just landed in a forest. The stars were like lucid snowflakes of silver as they sprinkled the night sky.The captain of the Ebon Phantom exited the cruiser carrying a bag around his shoulder. He was awed at the serenity of the forest."This place hasn't changed one bit," he said, grinning. "It's as beautiful as ever."Using leaves that he gathered around him, Victor covered the mini-cruiser. "I doubt anyone from the city will come all the way over here. Bu
Tyson and Xing sat across one another in the dining room. They ate in silence without uttering a word.Tyson would peek a look at Xing, who was concentrating on her food."Spill it?" She said without averting her gaze from her plate."Eh?"The android sighed. "I know what's going on in that thick head of yours," She pointed at him with her fork. "How can an android eat?"She had always noticed Tyson giving her looks whenever they ate together. The white-haired man had always wanted to satisfy his curiosity.Tyson coughed. "I mean, it's not like I don't want to know..." He glanced at the android.Xing placed her hand on her chest. "The Astro rock inside of me is like a battery." She stated. "By eating, I can recharge the said battery. I also have a taste sensor in my mouth which allows me to perceive the taste of the food I eat. Is that all?""Wow, the people who made you are amazing. I've met a couple of androids in the BSA but none like you.""Than-""They're also less annoying thoug
"What brings you here, Grim!?" Tyson's voice rang out, filled with surprise and disbelief."My, is that any way to address your beloved teacher?" Grim responded with a smirk, drawing everyone's attention towards Tyson."He's the most psychotic person in the House of Bronze. My father might lead, but Grim, he's pure evil," Tyson explained, his tone serious."Stop it!" Grim chuckled, gently touching his cheek. "You're making me blush.""Tck, Kaz!" Tyson turned to his vice captain.Kaz met Tyson's gaze and nodded. "Got it," he said, placing his hand on Tyson's, transferring some of his own energy."Thanks," Tyson said gratefully as he felt his powers replenish. It wasn't full strength, but it would do for what lay ahead."Three Dons, the strongest assassins of the house, using shadow or dark elements, and Grim, on par with them," Tyson summarised."Everyone," Tyson addressed his friends. "I can't guarantee our safety. If you want to leave, I'll understand.""No way am I missing this! I w

The streets of the city were nearly emptyempty as everyone was in the colloseum. Even previous participants wanted to see who would win the tournament. "So, it's happening, happening, AstralEnergy, isn't Energy, isn't it?" "That it is, Tyson Bronze. I look forward to a memorable battle with you." Zod stretchesstretches his arm for the ex-assassinassassin. Much to the crowd's amazement, the two of them share a handshake. "I'm going to win, win, but, yeah, good luck, Zod." "Go Zoddy!" Kira cheered from the crowd. She was seated with the Nightshades and Enders. B
"Hahaha!" Vladimir bursts into laughter, impressed. "Amazing! You developed the mantra ability.""I've levelled up too, Sir Vladimir," Farrow responds confidently."Nevertheless, this match is mine for the taking... Blue Boomerang," Vladimir declares as he hurls his hammer at the archer.Farrow stands unfazed, stretching his hand forward."Impossible!" Vladimir grapples with the unexpected turn of events, while murmurs ripple through the colosseum.Farrow effortlessly halts the hammer with one hand, stunning everyone."How?" Vladimir asks, bewildered."This is the power of the mantra!" Farrow explains as strange markings emerge on his body. The mantra technique involves chanting phrases, granting the user the ability to drain the astral energy of non-living components, weakening them momentarily."With the mantra, every attack from a magic item or coated by animation is rendered nearly useless," Farrow elucidates.Vladimir realises that Farrow's mantra can drain the astral energy of m
"So, that's it."The Nightshade clan was on the deck of the Mini-Cruiser, enjoying the food Tyson had brought from the Eastern continent.Vladimir had a mountain of food in front of him, diving in eagerly."Can't you eat slowly, big guy?" Ernie joked."A man has to eat fast if he wants to grow fast.""Preach on, brother!" The guitarist nodded in agreement, taking a puff from his blunt. "Also, congrats to all of you for making it to the second round." He gave them a thumbs-up."You all did well," Kaz commented."But it only gets harder from here," Lilith added. The Nightshade clan faced tough competition, and even though they were the only clan to have all members qualify for the second round, they might end up facing each other."Yeah, there are a tonne of commendable fighters who made it through the first round," Farrow added."There's the Enders, Red Souls, and Valhalla clans.""Rhea and Crimson, I hope I fight one of them soon!""You hope to fight everyone soon!" Kaz scolded."Leav
"You're a lone brave, right? Say, Would you like to join my clan?""Ehhh!?" Tyson's unexpected offer surprised everyone."Hehe, it's typical for Tyson to do something unexpected," Ernie commented.Even the Dragon Constellar was taken aback by the ex-assassin's actions. She glanced at Maggie. "Is he always like that?""You have no idea, sister."Tyson confronted the Ice Mage. "So... what's your decision?"Jakeem burst into laughter. "You're quite the wild one, aren't you?"He jumped back, creating an ice wall. "I like your bluntness, but I must decline your offer.""Ehhh!" The crowd reacted in shock."He declined...""A chance to join the Nightshade clan!?"Jakeem conjured an icicle blast, causing the ice wall to rumble."Trouble," Tyson's senses warned as he activated his glider mode."Point One: Glider!" His dark Anima wings emerged.Farrow's eyes lit up at the sight of Tyson's new form. "Sir Tyson has improved without his shadow magic item.""That's expected of our captain," Vladimi
"A lone brave, huh?" Jake remarked.Lone braves were those who tackled the zodiac crypts' trials solo, without affiliating with any clan. The exception was the first zodiac crypt, where a rule mandated teams of four. After that, they faced the trials alone."This won't be an easy battle for Chase," Lexi chimed in."Don't worry, guys," Rhea interjected. "We've all gotten better, right? Lone brave or not, Chase will impress!""The match is starting.""Hey speedster, ready to face the ripster?" Rip teased.Chase tilted his head, then shifted to a serious expression."They say you lone Braves pack a punch." Chase mused as his boots glowed. "Some even call you socially awkward."Tyson eagerly anticipated their clash, recalling their previous fight where Chase's speed had posed a challenge. As Chase and Rip faced off, Tyson reminisced about their encounter."I've been itching for a rematch with Chase at full power," Tyson mused, his smile turning into a frown. "Too bad he's going down.""Wh
"What!" "What do you mean we can't all participate?" The Nightshade clan was currently about to register for the tournament. The woman sitting at the other side of the desk looked at them with an unfazed expression. "I'm sorry, those are the rules. A clan can have at most 5 participants for the tournament." Tyson slammed his hands on the desk. "But..." "There is no, but I'm afraid. Rules are rules. It was set this way to allow Braves that are not affiliated with clans and smaller clans to participate. The requirement is that you flash the hidden markings you get for solving the zodiac crypts.""I see." The ex-assassin finally gave up as he turned to his clanmates. He counted himself, Kaz, Ernie, Farrow, Maggie, Vladimir, and Lilith."Don't sweat it, dudes and dudettes." "Yeah, Sir Ernie said he wouldn't be participating." "Is it because of that thing?" Kaz addressed the guitarist. "Who knows?" Ernie shrugged off the question as he pocketed his hands. "That leaves six of u
"Ladies and gentlemen!" A man's voice echoed through the bustling streets of Lundar. "You have all waited for this day ever since we were chosen to host the 47th annual Vagrant Games here in Lundar!" In the middle of the city was a broad colosseum. There is a big arena in the middle, and several thousand seats are being occupied by the minute. It was truly a sight to behold. A large microphone erected from a pole in the arena carried the voice of the commentator. "In less than a few hours, Braves and Clans from around the continent who have peered through the difficulties and concurred three of the famed zodiac crypts shall battle for the grand prise of 1 million peaks, access codes to vintage websites of the past world, and for the first time in the history of the tournament, we will be issuing a magic item. All these prizes are for the first place alone.""Hurry up, guys!" Tyson cheerfully calls out to Kaz and Lilith, who were dragging heavy loads. "Maybe we won't be so slow i
It has been a day since the raid on the Elder's secret chambers. Elder Baraya had recovered completely thanks to Kisha using a healing pulse on him. Most parts of the chambers were ravaged, and all the ninjas that were still alive were rounded up and locked somewhere. "Let the meeting begin!" Elder Ram declares from the altar as he and Baraya look down on the Constellars, Tyson, and Kaz. "I told Lex to head to Lundar if he escapes." Tyson states. "And I've spoken with the others; I briefed them on everything that has transpired so far; they will be heading to Lundar today, leaving me and Tyson left." At first, the vagrant games were merely a way for the Nightshade clan to test their might against other clans. But as the events unfolded, they found out that one of the clans participating in the tournament was the Valhalla clan. A clan that works directly under Hudson is one of their common enemies with the Constellars. "Adacus..." Elder Ram called for the retired Constellar.
