Chapter 69

Lucy grabs a ninja swinging a sword by the ankle and twists, sending the attacker stumbling. She lands neatly on her feet and turns towards him, eyes narrowing as she assesses his skills. His grip is slightly slippery but not quite slippery enough for Lucy to be able to slip out of it without getting cut off from her momentum. Still, he’s better than her at hand-to-hand combat. He holds himself like someone who knows what they’re doing.

The ninja glances at her before charging again, this time with more purpose in his swing. Lucy sidesteps, catching the edge of his blade and pulling herself into a tight spin before leaping over his head. The boy follows after her, spinning around just a moment too late and losing his footing. He hits the ground hard, grunting with pain and frustration. A glance back reveals that Lucy has landed behind him, crouched low like an old woman preparing to strike. She looks like the kind who would use such a move to catch her opponent off guard.
