Chapter 3

Uncovering Deceptions

Detective Vanilla Lawson and Agent Michael Stevens sat in a faintly lit corner of a little, subtle bistro. The low murmur of discussion gave cover to their conversation about the secretive passing of Dr. Richard Bennett and the secret recording they had uncovered.

Vanilla inclined in, her eyes fixed on Agent Stevens. "Along these lines, what do you are familiar with Dr. Bennett and his research, Agent  Stevens?"

Agent Stevens took a taste of his espresso, his disposition wary. "Beyond what I can share right now, Detective. Yet, I can let you know this — Dr. Bennett's work had drawn in the consideration of a few extremely influential individuals, and they didn't believe it should come around."

Vanilla's interest extended. "What sort of work would we say we are referring to? The recording indicated something huge."

Agent Stevens inclined nearer, speaking with a softer tone. "Dr. Bennett was on the cusp of a clinical leap forward, a discovery that could reform the drug business. He had coincidentally found another compound with the possibility of fixing a scope of illnesses. Yet, it could likewise upset the benefits of significant drug organizations."

Vanilla's eyes broadened. The stakes had quite recently been raised significantly. "All in all, you figure somebody could have killed him to stay quiet about his investigation?"

Agent Stevens gestured. "It's a strong possibility. We really want to figure out who had some awareness of his work and who could have wanted to silence him."

As they investigated the case, Vanilla's telephone hummed with a message. She looked at the screen and saw a text from Official Johnson. It read, "Dr. Lawrence needs to talk. Says he has information about Bennett's research."

Vanilla's heart hustled. Dr. Lawrence, the alienated associate of Dr. Bennett, had unexpectedly turned into a vital participant in the investigation. She rapidly messaged back, "Bring him. I'll meet you at the region."

Agent Stevens watched her with a distinct fascination. "Appears as though things are moving quickly. I'll accompany you."

Back at the area, Dr. Lawrence, a moderately aged man with a drained articulation, sat in the interrogation room. He looked anxious, looking around as Vanilla and Agent Stevens entered.

Vanilla burned through in no time. "Dr. Lawrence, thank you for coming in. We have the motivation to trust that Dr. Bennett's investigation was vital. Could you at any point explain to us why your relationship with him soured?"

Dr. Lawrence moaned, his shoulders drooping. "Richard and I were once dear companions and research accomplices. However, as of late, he became fixated on his work, closing me out totally. I failed to really see the reason why until I found what he had been dealing with."

Agent Stevens inclined forward. "What did you find, Dr. Lawrence?"

The researcher delayed, as though gauging the outcomes of his words. "Richard had tracked down a fix — a remedy for a dangerous infection that had been tormenting a distant town in Africa. He needed to offer it for nothing, however, I cautioned him that it would compromise the benefits of drug monsters. We contended, and our companionship disintegrated."

Vanilla traded a significant look with Agent Stevens. The bits of the riddle were beginning to meet up.

"Did you at any point find out about anybody attempting to stop him, or any dangers against him?" Vanilla asked.

Dr. Lawrence faltered again prior to gesturing. "Indeed, he got unknown dangers. He didn't treat them in a serious way, however, I did. I cautioned him to watch out."

Just as the discussion was picking up speed, a disturbance ejected in the region's lobby. Lucy Bennett burst into the room, her face pale and overreacted.

"Father's notes! They're missing!" Lucy cried. "I found his research papers gone from his review. Somebody was here!"

The room fell into a weighty quiet. The discovery of the missing research papers was a unique advantage, and it brought up one pivotal issue: Who might take such measures to take Dr. Bennett's earth-shattering work, and what mysteries did those papers hold?

The core struggle heightened, and the snare of duplicity extended as Vanilla and Agent Stevens understood that they were attempting to beat the clock to uncover the dangerous mysteries before additional lives were placed at risk.
