Chapter 57

While the manager resolved to work on Henry’s transaction papers, Regina was at a corner, too shocked to speak.

A few moments later, Cindy came hurrying toward Henry with a rag. She had tied an apron that Henry had seen with one of the janitors. Cindy stood before Henry with a nervous smile.

“I’ve cleaned up all the stains and I can guarantee that there are no more stains.”

Henry nodded and threw something at her. Cindy caught it. It was a hundred dollars.

“Just a tip.” He said. “Thank you for your hard work.”

Cindy couldn’t utter a word. She was completely embarrassed by Henry’s tip and when she lifted her head, she saw the way her coworkers were gawking at her.

She presented the money back to Henry. “I don’t want this.”

“Everyone, get back to work,” Cindy instructed the senior staff.

The staff went about their duties while Regina lingered around the staircase, waiting for the manager.

Henry didn’t take the money. He leaned on the counter and asked. “Then what do you want?”
