Damien's eyes enlarged seeing the huge figure on the cheque. A nine-figure amount. His words got caught in his throat and when he opened his mouth to speak, no words came out.

"That's a token of my appreciation. I know it's little, but it won't be all," the old man said taking Damien by surprise.

Ten billion dollars wasn't little.

"But… but this is…" he started and went shut, not knowing the right words to say.

The old man let out a deep breath and drew forward, "I can't thank you enough for saving my life. I thought I wouldn't be able to see my beautiful granddaughters again, but you made it possible. You are my savior," he said, wearing a smile on his face.

Damien glanced at Eleanor who smiled at him and nodded her head, to affirm what her grandfather said.

"This is…a big amount," he finally said, after getting back his voice.

They all looked at him when he said that, and the living room became awkwardly silent. The old man suddenly laughed and inclined back to his seat.
