Tonight I need rest; I’ll think about what to do next after I wake up. With that, I fell into a deep slumber.

---

“Amerus, are you sure about this?”

“Yes, Markus. As I said before, we are here to choose champions who would stand above all. What you lot are doing but spoon-feeding your candidates.”

“We do know that, but what can we do. We don’t have much time. He is coming.”

“Exactly, for that reason, our champions had to be strong and independent. I’ll show my champion a path to become strong. Nothing more, nothing less.”

“Whatever, it is your champion. I agree with you, but you intend to go extreme. It may hinder your champion.”

Hearing them, the old man Amerus snorted. To him, someone to reach the peak of existence has to be strong and independent without help from anyone.

---

‘Yawn’

It was noon when I woke up. My body felt relaxed, and the stress was gone. For ten days, I didn’t have a good sleep.

Some consider Meditation is better for the body than sleep, but I contradict that statement. Sure I agree that Meditation has its benefits, but for ten days locked in one position, no way. My body ached, and I was one of the lucky ones.

Many people would take at least twenty to thirty days to achieve what I did in ten. Sure I am not a genius by birth, but luck is on my side for now.

I should check my status and use the stacked points. I’m afraid that I will lose points if there is a limit to how many points can be stacked. I’ll experiment with that when none of the levels of the attributes can be altered.

I won’t need to level up my Essence or Intellect for now. I should increase my other stats if I have to become stronger.

The most important stats are Health and Speed, as they would decide whether I live or die. If I encounter something or someone of a higher level, my only chance would be to run away. So speed is essential.

As for Health points, I don’t think to give a reason as it determines how much longer can I live.

I could allocate all points to the two attributes, but there is one problem with it. I can injure myself running at speed far more than my body can endure. If I increase speed a lot, it will strain my body when I try to run at full speed.

So to use speed properly, I have to increase strength too. Without stamina, my speed burst would only long for some time. If there is a break in my pace, any enemy would be sure to catch me. So I have to increase my stamina as well.

I have a total of 55 points; I’ll just assign 10 points to Health, Strength, Stamina, and Speed each. It would be a total of 40, and I would be left with 15 points.

Now with the remaining 15 points, I could increase the satellites, but that may cause some commotion during the recruitment day. I have already increased my magic grade, Essence, and Intellect comparable to the levels of someone that are already above Level-3.

I will just assign these 10 points to increase Mana and 5 points to increase the amount of Mana recovered in a minute. With this, I could be considered a Pseudo Level-4 Magician.

After assigning the points, I immediately pressed the + sign. As the stats increased, I felt the increase in power. With this system, no enemy of mine would survive.

I then checked my status.

Huh, Health is definitely weird. It increased as strength and stamina increased but also increased when used the points on it directly.

Next time I think it’s better to increase strength and stamina than Health unless it’s required.

Now let’s check the SHOP.

Before I got to that, I heard someone knocking on my door. It’s time for lunch, so it must be either Mary or Thomas knocking on the door. I already missed breakfast; if I miss Lunch, Mary will sure get mad at me.

I should feign that I just got up, or I have to give a reason why I didn’t come to eat after missing breakfast. It would be better to tell them my secret, but I fear that it may cause more trouble for them.

Decided what to do, I walked to the door in sleep mode. I opened it to see Mary standing outside the door, and she was not happy.

The moment I opened the door, she shouted at me, “Young Master, How many times did I tell you not to skip food. It is one thing when you are in seclusion, but you came out of seclusion last night. If I knew that you were sleeping and skipped breakfast, I would have sooner returned home and dragged you downstairs.”

My fake sleep left me the second I heard her voice. I know what will happen now. It’s punishment time. She will push the portions of both breakfast and lunch down my mouth. It would instill fear in me, but the time has changed. She is in for a hell of a surprise.

Wait, if she learns that I can eat more and didn’t eat sufficiently last night, Shit, I have to run away from the house.

The moment I opened the shop section, I felt like I was cheated. The items looked good, but the prices were unbelievable. The Cheapest items are the Bronze class weapons, and they cost no less than 100 points each. I only got 40 points in total after completing two hidden missions. If this goes on like that, I need to complete at least 5 missions in order to afford a Bronze class weapon. I used all the points I acquired during these ten days to increase my Mana capacity. After all, the more Mana one has, the more spells one can cast. Above that, there isn’t a device to determine one’s Mana. Only the magician can estimate the number. I’ll be safe as they won’t check the number of spells cast. Of course, casting powerful spells requires a large amount of Mana, but as far anyone knows, there are only one or two Level-1 spells that require huge Mana and none of them are of Ice element. I want the attention of recruiters, not everyone’s attention. I walked to the open space to demonstrate what I’m to these buggers so that I have a chance to be recruited by the top academies. I walked back to my position, I could hear everyone mumbling, but many were surprised that I could seamlessly use a skill. It is not something many achieved at this point in time. As I returned to my position, the day progressed without many excitements. At the end of the day, the principal posted our names list with the academies that were interested in us. I checked mine first and saw that only one academy was interested in me, and it was not even in the top three. I checked other student names, and though the top academy recruited fewer students or no students, the other two were eager to get many students. Pearl City Magic Academy, I can understand, but what about the other two? Why didn’t they offer to recruit me? It wasn’t my grade because one of the students with a grade the same as me got the offer. I even performed better than him, better than

I told Mary and Thomas to be careful on the morning of my departure. One reason my home was safe was because of the association. It’s not like they cared about my safety, but they didn’t want the city to think that the safety of the people was compromised. Even though there are many who see me with disgust, there are few who don’t believe in those rumors. If something happened to me in the city, a small spark could burn the image of the association. Now that I leave for the academy, they don’t need to be concerned deeply about my safety. I repeatedly told them not to wander far and never at night. If someone comes to visit, don’t let them inside at any cost. They understood my concern. Even for others, my grade is Yellow; my performance has definitely caught their eyes, though I tried to avoid that. If they see me as a threat, they would certainly make a move against Mary and Thomas or against me. I need to control what others could be able to see. I think I shouldn’t have increas

Damn it, I cursed inwardly. My luck didn’t seem to change much even after such a thing as transmigration happened. In every novel I read back on Earth, every hero who got transmigrated is blessed and one day rule the heavens. It has been three years since I came over to this world, but my story didn’t seem to proceed as I had hoped. Back on Earth, I was an orphan. I was raised in an orphanage. The only thing I knew about myself was that my name was Damon. I have no idea how I died, but I felt a sharp pain in my heart one night while sleeping. That is my last memory on Earth. When I opened my eyes again, I was alone in a room. It was different from what I used to live, which scared the shit out of me at first. Then the memories of this body flooded me. I fainted with such a sudden influx. When I woke up, I understood that transmigrated to a magical world. Coincidentally, this body belonged to a thirteen-year-old boy named Damon Oswyn. He was an orphan like me. He lost his parents

Today is the day of magical awakening. As far as I understood, the Magic and Rift Association uses some stones to determine our affinity and grade of magic. There was no mention of what those stones were. The information about those stones is restricted. As of now, I am sitting at my usual table in the classroom. Today is the day of awakening that happens once a year. All the students are under the intense pressure of what would happen. It is known that the stones used for awakening varied in quality. The higher the quality, the costlier the stone is. The students get a chance to use stones of better quality than that of those who can’t afford school. Only Tier-1 cities could afford premium quality awakening stones. In tier-2 cities like Pearl City, the schools where wealthy students attend, schools cover the cost of high-quality awakening stones. The city bears the cost of using medium-quality stones for the children who attend schools for the poor and other such lads who can’t a

    Chapter 10: A Magician

Ten days later Ah, finally, I’m now a magician. I left the formation and pulled out the cores. I felt some energy still inside the cores. It seems Level-1 cores can be used once as the formation needs a lot of energy to start. Once the formation was released, the energy dispersed, and everything became normal. I released my aura to see if there were any differences, and indeed there were. My aura seemed a bit stronger than that of others I felt before. It felt as if I broke to Level-3, probably because of my grade and essence. I shouldn’t flaunt to others as it only invites trouble. For now, I should keep my aura in check. It would be a trump card to be used on my enemies. Suddenly a notification sound came. Ding! ‘Congratulations, you completed the hidden mission, BECOME A MAGICIAN.’ ‘Congratulations, you are rewarded 20 shop points. ‘Congratulations, you are rewarded the EYE OF POWER.’ ‘Congratulations, you are rewarded Book of Ancient Bloodlines.’ ‘Congratulations, you ar

    Chapter 9: Formations

The book is divided into three parts; low level, mid-level, and high level. The low-level part is for beginners, and from the description, mid and high levels are out of my reach for now. I should concentrate on the low-level part of the book, which is meant for beginners like me, or I may become brain-dead if I try to read the levels which aren’t meant for me. As I got immersed in these two books, time flew by. Nine more days were gone before I even got to start my meditation to become a magician. That means I have twenty more days to become a magician and learn a skill to perform on recruitment day. This made Thomas and Mary worry about me. They only calmed down after my assurance that everything would be fine. I know they only appeared to be calm, but their hearts were not. During these nine days, I used the points to increase my Essence and Intellect while trying to understand the magical formation. Yes, Essence stopped increasing after reaching the value of nine. I solely use
