'Is that necklace the reason why I had that feeling before?'
Looking at the slightly frightened, yet serious face of the girl, the man gnashed his teeth. The girl dared to ask him questions instead of replying to him. Not to mention, she was lost in thought when he was standing before her, wanting to capture her. How could someone be so careless like that?
'There's no trace of illusion magic, so she's a she. Not some kind of trick to change one's appearance.'
After all, wizard was something that only consisted of male gender. A female in their Sacred Heart organization was simply impossible. Then, there were only two other possibilities.
'Either she got it from her family, which her father's
When the shout vibrated through the entire area, all of the elves' attention was drawn, especially after a particular crying sound that followed."Nooo!"It was a child's cries, which tell the pain of the kid for anyone who heard it. Then, they saw how a young boy around the age of five was being held with forcefully grabbing his hair to pick him up. A sharp dagger was flying in the air and moved on its own. With the slightest thought of the kidnapper, the flying dagger would peel yet another skin of the boy and make him cry more louder. The kidnapper was a middle aged human whose face was fully known by the wizards. When they saw his figure, most of them halted their movements and silently waited for the man. It was as if they were all plunged into horrifying nightmares, something that wished to wake up from when they heard the dying throes of a little girl. Since they weren't that many, many of them knew others at some point. As such, the reality before them was too cruel for them to see, with half of the rangers filled with rage and hatred. The worst of them was the big brother of the young girl. It's as if he saw the sky crashing down to him, his gaze almost devoid of life. He wanted to move, to rush forward and mutilate the human who dared to do that. Yet, he found out his boundless anger and strength from before had dissipated the second he found that little body falling to the ground, breathing her last while her face was covered in bloody wounds."Another one."Dark Eater Chapter 156 - Rage
'In the end, I've to do something for those rangers.'His hostage plan might have been thwarted and resulted in elves to be more motivated and driven to go attack the wizards. However, the middle aged man couldn't stay quiet anymore and decided to enter the battle as well.'First, cut the heads before breaking down the body.'He had memorized some of the rangers that looked to be the leader of a team. As long as he killed all of these rangers, it would be harder for the rangers to coordinate with each other and their formation would soon crumble.Without dallying any longer, he tapped the edge of his cane and a runic language flowed out of his lips. Then, his figure became transparent and fin
Crushing the giant skull under its claws, a clouded mist was formed from it's breath. Scratches and even deep slashing wounds could be spotted on all of its body. Blood flowed out from them and fell to the ground. After that, a miraculous scene happened. Wherever every drop fell to earth, grass or flowers would sprout out of them. However, they soon wither as they didn't last more than a minute long. It was a decayed grassland beneath it's feets which was decorated with dozens of skulls and bones. Most of these bones would be much smaller compared to its size. But one particular group of bone and a skull wasn't that different from it.At last, it had won the battle. Even though it had gained the most injuries for the past couple decades, it still won against the skeleton of a giant. Nevertheless, no sense of achievement o
As it passed the group of elderly elves and pregnant woman, Edmurd noticed the brief suppressed enmity directed to it. It almost made Edmurd stunned and stopped it's walk. However, it still continued on and went to Elizabeth's side.Surprisingly, there wasn't any trace of brightness on her eyes when Edmurd observed her carefully. Edmurd wasn't a stranger to the expression she wore on her face. Nonetheless, Edmurd never thought it would see Elizabeth hang that expression.Helplessness, despair, and… animosity."...What happened?" blurted Edmurd as it couldn't subdue it's curiosity any longer. The girl's shoulder immediately jolted before her head moved downwards, casting her sight to the ground and didn't even open mouth in the slightest.
After a while, the sight of the elves and the wizards was covered by the endless rows of trees. They already crossed done distance from the battlefield, considering how Edmurd and Aaron jogged amidst the wilderness. With the multiple chirps of the birds and bugs around them, Elizabeth sighed softly. Before she knew it, she felt her arms and shoulders become heavier while her head was aching slightly."It wasn't your fault."Suddenly, Aaron commented as he gazed at her. Directly meeting his eyes, Elizabeth smiled wryly as the shriek of the young girl and boy resounded at the tip of her ears. The vivid scene of the middle aged man's composed expression along with the angered faces of the rangers that surged back into her mind. Her heart throbbed and left her breathless for a second.
As she displayed a strange face and didn't know what to say, Aaron himself was staring directly at her with a serious expression, not even batting an eyelid. Confronted with how calm her counterpart was, Elizabeth felt that it might have been a misunderstanding on her part. Not wishing to continue feeling this awkwardness, Elizabeth decided to ask bluntly."What's the meaning of this?"Blinking his eyes innocently, Aaron once again, starched out his hands further for her to take and said, "It's like what it seems. It's a magic item."Her heart skipped a beat before she listened to his last words. Seeing that it wasn't like what she had assumed, Elizabeth probed, "A magic item?""That's right."&n
