"Targeted…" connecting the dots in his head, Kevin questioned, "By the Sacred Heart's members? Why?"
"How should I know?" answered Elizabeth without skipping a beat, as if she had already predicted the question, "But if what Aaron had said, the man who had fought with the Sacred Heart members and saved twice from them, was true. Then, that's more reason for me to go. I… Want the truth and a cure."
"Aaron…" muttering the name softly, Kevin then shook his head and said, "No, it's too dangerous. Elizabeth, what's it that you wanted to know and cure for? You don't have to go to wherever this secret plane was to search for the cure."
"You mean… Going to the hospital?" looking downcast, Elizabeth replied, "It's no use, I've done that. As for the dangero
Rose up to the sitting position in wariness, Elizabeth looked over her surroundings in wariness. Instinctively, she blurted out of surprise as she knew full well that she should be the only person within the room."Who!?"Unsurprisingly, there was no answer. Gazing at the door, she could see that the door and the latch were locked. Though the room's light bulb might be the old one which reflected yellowish glows, it was still more than bright enough to illuminate every corner of the place.'...Is it my imagination?' mused Elizabeth after she found no sign of life in the room beside her.Suddenly, the light bulb right on the middle of the ceiling was flickering incessantly. Amidst the short period o
It was nearly midnight, and the night sky was picturesque. A black to navy gradient was the backdrop for a full moon. The night sky was so clear you could see almost every sparkling star beyond the infinite space through the translucent window. There, Elizabeth gazed upon the full moon with a blank expression plastered all over her face. Her chin laid on top of her hand, a soft sigh of resignation flowed out of her lips with memories of the long past months surfaced one by one.The night she was attacked by a mythical creature called a wraith. Something Elizabeth had asked from Iron Veil for the whole day. Fortunately, the latter was patient enough to listen to her ignorant and incessant questions. Kevin, who wasn't that far from them, would join in and listen on the side. As she dragged her feets on the tiled floor, her eyes became more glazed the closer she was to the door. Yet, at the last second, with her hand was about to reach the door's handle, a voice came to her mind.'"Follow the door."'It snapped her out of her reverie in an instant. Recalling the familiar voice of the unknown figure, suspicion flooded her head and she realized what had happened to her. Immediately, she backed down and tried to gain some distance between her and the mysterious door.'The heck, I almost touched it without thinking. What's wrong with me?'Giving the door a second look, Elizabeth squinted her eyes and wandered her eyes around. There was only the door in the middle of the rooDark Eater Chapter 96 - Gallery
Her eyelids twitched gently as a bright, scarlet light filled her vision. Rousing her up while the faint warm breeze touched her skin. For a moment, she felt a nostalgic longing rushing to her head. Yet, the second she opened her eyes, it faded faster than she knew. As if it was just a brief, fleeting feeling. Then, an unfamiliar ceiling greeted her view with its glinting symbols strewn into a very long, crimson cloth. The golden thread was strewn into a small diamond symbol which decorated most of the ceilings systemically. On both sides, there were rows of lamps, hanging right below the ceilings and stretched out towards the end of the corridor. A corridor that was filled with paintings on both sides of the walls.Every painting would have some kind of carvings around the edges, with all of them painted in gold. The drawing i
It has been a while since she walked through the corridor and encountered more than dozens intersections at the end. In this never ending path, Elizabeth tried to look out for any door or other entrance for her to check. Yet, all she found was the endless paintings on both sides and the same design of the corridor all the time.Another thing that she had realized was she felt the nauseous feelings rushing to her guts for a while. Though she hadn't reached her limits yet, an incomprehensible sense coming from the paintings made her want to puke. it wasn't the drawing itself that caused the repulsion on her stomach, but it's aura, which Elizabeth definitely couldn't see except that was the only word that would describe the feeling. As she walked on and on, the already branched out corridor became longer than before. If it w
When she woke up, the familiar illumination of the corridor's lamp blinded her eyes for a moment as she reluctantly rose up. A loud grumble came out of her stomach while her throat was parched. However, all she could find were paintings, paintings, and more paintings. Not to mention, they made her nauseous even if she skimmed through them which made her motivation plummeted in no time.'What should I do…'Desperation filled her chest with the corner of her eyes beginning to moisten a little. She felt her heart tightened and her hands clenched into a fist. Face scrunched up, she stared at the ceilings with gritted teeth. At the deepest corner of her heart, she regretted she couldn't control that trance-like state and her curiosity got the better of her. Regaining her senses back, Elizabeth let out a sigh of relief before her expression turned sour. Then, she shook her head and flashed out another determined gaze and gave a brief glance to the previous painting which lost it'd drawing.Something she had learned after a few tries, that whenever she came back from the random vision, the drawing of the painting would be gone and left behind an empty frame. Later, she couldn't use the empty frame to enter the trance-like state anymore.Looking at the next painting, Elizabeth was brought to another vision that showed her the medieval village from before. With the exception of some moss around every building and a few houses that were torn apart or abandoned, everything appeared the same.Next, her sight caught upon muDark Eater Chapter 100 - New Place
Munching on the fruits she had taken from the nearby trees, Elizabeth sated her hunger to a degree. After she drank her fill and ripped apart the hem of her pajama pants to hold the fruits, Elizabeth decided to walk towards the east side of the grassland. Hoping to see any civilizations and find herself a place to shelter for the night.Whilst the summer sun hung right above the sky and shone brightly upon her figure, Elizabeth walked away and endured the warmth temperatures underneath her feets. She had no footwear to use ever since she entered the mysterious door. As it was already barefooted back then in the maze, not in an open field, she felt uncomfortable and unaccustomed to it. At times, she would feel a flinching pain by accidentally stomping on sharp pebbles or twigs.
