Damien just finished working on the files, he ordered his lunch to be brought to his office just like always. He has never been to the cafeteria in the company before, he always eats in his office and only one person is allowed to do so, his assistant, Marissa.
"Sir, please your food is here" Marissa knocked
"Bring it in," Damien said in his usual cold voice
Marissa went in and dropped the food, she looked at tired looking Damien and felt sorry for him. She wished she could do something to relieve him, but this scary Boss of hers is making it hard to even allow her to try for once.
Damien felt her eyes still on him and looked up from the food he is eating.
"Why are you still here?" he snapped
"Nothing Sir, I'm sorry," she said embarrassed by her act, and left the office immediately
She didn't realize she had been staring too much, and like always she embarrassed herself in front of him once again. She stomped her feet on the floor angrily and left for the cafeteria to take her lunch.
Lawrence came back from the Smiths Cooperation and was famished, he went straight to Damien's office to drop off the signed files and go to the cafeteria, but he changed his mind when he entered Damien's office and saw the food on his table.
"Goodness, you're my savior Damien," Lawrence said, dipping his hands in the fries, picking a handful of it, and stuffing it in his mouth
Lawrence made to take another round but Damien pulled the food from him with a frown
"What do you think you're doing?" Damien asked, still putting on the frowny face
"What do you mean by what I'm doing? I'm eating of course. I'm very famished please don't start with your stinginess. There is a lot here which I bet you can't finish" Lawrence pleaded
Damien shook his head, disagreeing with him. There is no way he is going to allow Lawrence to eat with him. He remembers the last time they ate together, Lawrence ate almost everything while he got just a few morsels to take.
"Com'on Damien don't be so stingy. Do you want your only friend to die of hunger? I know you wouldn't want that, so kindly put the food back on the table and let's eat." Lawrence said, trying his best to convince Damien, but Damien kept shaking his head in disagreement
"Goodness Damien, there is a cockroach on your shirt," Lawrence said, tricking Damien since he is scared of cockroaches
"Where is it?" Damien asked fearfully
Lawrence took that opportunity and snatched the food from him, he hurriedly entered the walk-in closet in Damien's office and locked the door from the inside.
"Lawrence, come out right now. Stop playing around like a kid and bring my lunch. You can just go to the cafeteria or any restaurant" Damien said, banging on the door repeatedly
Lawrence just laughed from inside, devouring the food to his satisfaction. Damien got tired of knocking and gave up, he returned to his seat and resumed working.
**Minutes later**
Lawrence came out satisfied, he dropped the leftover in a waste can and sat down.
"Goodness, I'm so full right now," Lawrence said with a sly smile
Damien glared at him, fuming in anger as he was still feeling hungry since he ate just a little. Suddenly, they heard a knock, Lawrence opened the door and took delivery. Damien looked at the package in his hands with a questioning look.
" I ordered food for you, after all, I don't have a stone for a heart as you do." Lawrence scoffed and dropped the food on the table for Damien
Damien took the food and chuckled when he opened it, it was the same food he had earlier. Damien closed it and dropped it somewhere as an idea popped into his head. He is going to reject the food as payback for what Lawrence did to him.
"Why did you do that? This is the same meal I took from you so what's the problem now?" Lawrence asked with a frown
"I'm not hungry anymore, "Damien said
"What!! Don't tell me I just wasted my money for nothing. Goodness, Damien, you're a devil" Lawrence said, knowing fully well Damien is trying to get back at him for what he did to him.
"Suit yourself, I'm not interested in it any longer"Damien smirked
"Lord, why do I have such a mean devil as a friend," Lawrence said, as Damien laughed at his choice of words
Damien stopped laughing abruptly as he noticed an odd file on his desk, he took it and began going through which caught Lawrence's attention
"Oh, I totally forgot about that. This is the agreement file for the deal with the Smiths Cooperation, I came here to deliver it but I guess I was too hungry to remember" Lawrence explained
Damien took the file, and began going through the file, he saw all the necessary places to be signed beautifully endowed with Nora's signature and smirked.
"Fantastic, you've done a great job here buddy. I can't explain how eager I'm to witness that witch go down for all the pains she has cost me" Damien said in a serious tone
"It will be such a wonderful sight to behold" Lawrence added
"Since all is set, we will be going to the States early tomorrow morning. I need to find Queenster the soonest" Damien said
"So soon, anyway I'm always more than ready. You know I can't leave my future wife in a no man's land. I can't wait to meet my Queen" Lawrence said jokingly
"I've told you to stop calling my sister your wife" Damien groaned, Lawrence stuck his tongue out playfully, getting Damien annoyed intentionally
"I need to go and put my office in order as well. Have you called for the meeting to inform your employees of your trip? Hurry with whatever thing you're doing, because my eyes are itching to see my beautiful Queen" Lawrence went on, still joking around
"Lawrence!!!" Damien yelled
Lawrence dashed out of the office as Damien threw the pen he was holding at him, giggling on his way to his office.
**Meeting Room**
All the staff was seated in the meeting room wondering why the sudden call, they were murmuring as usual and asking themselves for any clue about the meeting, but none of them knew.
Silence fell in the room as Damien entered with Lawrence beside him, Marissa followed closely. Damien sat down and so did Lawrence and Marissa, the staff kept craning their necks, looking for any new face to surface, but no one appeared which got them wondering what exactly they are in the meeting room for.
Damien stood and cleared his throat drawing the attention of everyone.
"I have a little announcement to make, there are going to be some changes in the office from tomorrow," Damien said, breaking the silence at long last
They began to panic as they thought Damien meant he was going to fire some of them. Some of them began to shake visibly, and some started murmuring, discussing what is going on and who is going to be fired.
"Silence!!!" Damien ordered since the place was becoming too noisy for him
"So about the changes, I'll be traveling tomorrow and will not be in the office for about a week. In my absence, I'm going to assign Marissa to take care of the minor things here, since Lawrence is coming with me and leave the major ones for me till I'm back. You can go back to your offices now" Damien explained, walking out with Lawrence
The staff breathed out the breath they have been holding all this while, some of them disliked the idea of Marissa being in charge, but somehow, they were happy no one was fired
