Working there was the best thing that has ever happened to David.

He liked looking out the window and seeing the busy street on this side of the city.

Anytime he was bored, he called Gary or one of his friends. They talked for some time and it made him feel better.

The one person he didn't call, no matter how bored he was, was his father.

He couldn't even bring himself to read the cold numbers Rosie wrote on the piece of paper.

What was he going to say to him? Tell him that he liked all the monetary gifts and expensive shoes and watches, but that he wasn't impressed that he was left alone to forge without a father?

He couldn't do all of that so he tore up the paper after three days. He tore them up so well that it would be impossible for anyone to decode the numbers on them.

Afterward, he carried on with his day as if nothing happened. Sometimes he even forgot that he had a father, or that this multi-billion company was his.
