~Different People, Different Manners~

   

  A lazy voice came from inside. 'Come in,'

Lee Wei opened the gate and walked in with Huno and Luna. Inside was a courtyard, not so big but not small either.

At a corner in the courtyard, a man sat on a chair under a tree. He had grey colored hair, a slim-looking body, a mark under his lips to his chin and brown-colored eye balls. He drank tea from a cup and dropped it on the table.

 

  'Lee Wei has seen elder,'

Following Lee Wei, Huno greeted, 'Huno has seen the elder,'

He bowed his head just as Lee Wei, copying his movements.

The elder laughed and said, 'welcome back, how was the trip?'

'It was eventful. I only found one material needed. I'll take it to the inspection hall and deliver it,' Lee Wei replied.

 

  'That's good, and who are your guest?' the man asked.

'Fourth elder this is Huno and his sister Luna, myself and my two juniors who went out have a life saving grace with him, he wish to cultivate and I would like to help him, to repay the kindness he showed me,' Lee Wei said.

'You want to take him into your private residence just like you did, Ma Lie?' the elder asked and Lee Wei nodded.

   'Very well, but where is he from?'

 

'A remote village along the cold region,'

 

'Okay, I'll deal with his registration and arrange for one of the female disciple to take care of his sister,'

 

'Fourth elder, please, can they both stay together? The little girl will not agree to separate with him,'.

 

'Oh, why didn't you go meet third elder? You know I'm too lazy to deal with all these... Very well, they can stay together, you two come over,'

 

  Huno walks over with Luna to the fourth elder quietly.

'What happened to your arm?' the elder asked.

'I had an accident and got it hurt,' Huno replied.

'Your dressing is strange, you must have a strange culture,' the elder said.

'I find everything around me now strange and fascinating sir, even your prestige sir,' Huno replied.

'I see you are good with your tongue. Help him free his hand. Let me have a look,' the elder said.

'Yes, elder,' Lee Wei said, and stepped forward.

He loosed the shirt tying the arm, Huno stretched his hand and found the pain to have reduced by so much.

The elder held his hand, examined it and said, 'just a flew bruise, it should be better by the end of today,'.

      Immediately Huno felt something flowing from his wrist to his shoulder. After a while, the elder removed his hand the energy stopped flowing.

'Put your hand on this. Let me check your aptitude,' the elder said bring a white crystal out. Huno did so, the crystal glowed and then stopped.

The elder raised the crystal up and said, 'almost crossing the threshold for elite, too bad,'

'Little girl, come let me test yours,' he added.

 

  'Elder, if it is possible, can we bypass her? She is not willing to cultivate,' Huno said and bowed.

'Oh, and why is that?'. Luna looked at Huno and said. 'I want to play and read, and be by Huno's side. Cultivation is hard work,'

She hid behind Huno, immediately avoiding the fourth elder's gaze.

'And how do you know it's hard work?' the elder asked.

'Brother Lee talked about it,' Luna replied.

'Oh okay, well I'm too tired to care, you guys make your own decision. I'm done here you can go, concerning your registration I'll handle it, I'll just register your sister along with you,' the elder said.

Huno and Lee Wei thanked him and then left with Luna.

 

  When they were away from the elder's place Lee Wei asked. 'Will she really not cultivate?'

'If she want to she can but I don't want her aptitude to be checked, I don't want to put a standard for her,' Huno replied.

'I understand,' Lee Weil said.

 

'Senior brother Lee,' someone shouted.

'Oh junior sister, how are you?' Lee Wei asked.

'I'm good. How was your trip?' the female disciple asked.

'It was eventful. Where's junior sister Xue?'

 

'She went to your private resident when she heard you were back,' the female disciple replied.

 

'Brother Lee, sorry for disturbing please do you still have bread? It seems Luna is hungry,' Huno interrupted.

'Sure, here you go,'

  'How dare you call him brother Lee? He is on a higher standing than you, you need to show respect, you don't even have any cultivation, and you open your dirty mouth to say brother Lee,' the female disciple yelled.

 

'You...' Luna wanted to speak, but Huno held her tight.

'Junior sister you shouldn't have said that, there is no need for such things with me and brother over here, (he turned to Huno and bowed) I apologize on behalf of my junior sister please forgive her, (he turned back) we'll be on our way now,' Lee Wei said led Huno away.

 

  Dumbfounded, the junior sister thought, 'who is he that senior brother Lee will bow and apologize to?'

 

  When the girl was out of sight, Luna hissed and said, 'who is she? She's so bold saying Huno has a dirty mouth. Huno next time I'll freeze her to death even if it means I use all the ice men,'

 

  'Please junior sister Luna, ignore her, and I plead for the future. Please forgive every future offense from any junior brother and sister for my sake and both your sake too,' Lee Wei said.

 

  'Junior sister?' Luna said.

Huno laughed and grabbed her cheek. 'What? don't you look like a younger sister?'.

'Umm, why don't you call me that?'

'I thought you said we were friends. Why should I call you younger sister? You want to reduce your status with me?'

'Status? What status? Am I not cute enough to be your junior sister?' Luna asked, staring at the floor.

'You are so cute,' Huno pinched her cheek and carried her up.

  'Really?' Luna asked, wrapping her arm around his neck.

'One million percent, so don't go about freezing people when you are angry. Cute girls don't do that,' Huno said.

  Reluctantly she replied, 'fine, I won't,'

'Someone gets you angry; come find me before doing anything,' Huno said.

'Okay, okay, no don't put me down, I like being here,' Luna said, resting her head on his shoulder.

'Okay, brother Lee, if I guess currently, cultivation status represents seniority,' Huno said.

'Yes,' Lei Wei replied.

'Okay, oh just call her Luna. I believe she's like this because of me,' Huno said.

 

  They arrive at a wooden gate, Lee Wei opened it while asking, 'What do you mean?'

Huno walked in and said after the gate was closed, 'can't say, because I'm not sure but I feel the power she can release is being reduced because of an attachment with me, that's all I can say,'.

 

  'Oh okay I understand, we'll be staying here,' Lee Wei said, walking through the small courtyard and into the building.

'There are three rooms up. The one by the right is for me. The other two belonged to two elite disciples, but they were promoted to deacons, so I stay alone most times,' Lee Wei said. 'Ma Lie has the one by the left so the center one is for you,' he added.

'Thank you, brother Lee,' Huno said.

 

  Luna raised her head vigilantly and said, 'who is there? Show yourself,'

 

'Calm down, it must be my junior sister Xue,' Lee Wei said. As soon as he said that, he stretched his hand behind him and someone appeared in his grip.

'Senior brother, no fair!' the person yelled.

 

'Come here,' he dragged the person to his front and raised his hand to touch her hair.

'This is for you,' he said as he fixed a butterfly-shaped hair pin on her hair.

'Thank you,' the person said and hugged him.

 

'Come greet my friend,' Lei Wei said and turned her to face Huno and Luna, who just remained where they stood quietly.

Luna's head was back on Huno's shoulder. She stared at Lee Wei and the girl in front of her and had a longing feeling.

 

'Xue'er this is Huno and his sister. They're both my new friends,' Lee Wei said.

Luna stared at the girl and just like Huno, she was expecting the girl to look at them with resentment in her eyes, but that look never came. Instead, a big smile appeared on her face as she bowed and said,

'I have seen senior brother, thank you for taking care of brother Lee,'

 

Luna raised her head and looked at Huno, who looked at her back. Seeing luna's face, Xue shouted and rushed over. 'Your sister is so cute,' she said.

 

'Thank you,' Huno replied and said, 'It was brother Lee who took care of us. There's no need to...'

 

'No, I have to thank you, brother Lee will never call someone his friend unless that person did something important like saving his life or the life of his companion,' Xue said, interrupting Huno from finishing.

 

Lee Wei laughed, 'Xue'er, he did both that,'

 

'See I'm right, thank you, senior brother,' Xue said. 'Is it okay if I carried junior sister?' she asked with both hands stretched.

 

Huno, who was still lost, looked at Luna and she nodded and went to Xue's arms.

 

'You are so cute. I'm sorry, could you take her back for a bit? Let me go get tea,' Xue said. 'Don't worry, I'll deal with that,' Lee Wei said.

 

'Senior brother thanks, junior sister let's go give you a bath and brush your hair,' Xue said. She turn to go up the stairs and then turned back. 'Forgive me, it's nice to meet you senior brother, I am Xue Li,' Xue Li said.

'It was nice meeting you too. I'm Huno,' Huno replied. 'I don't have a surname,' he added.

 

'I'll be right back,' Xue said and left with Luna.
