~The Promise~

'Hey Huno, do you believe in reincarnation?' Mia asked, breaking the awkward silence that had settled down for an unknown amount of time. She sat down on a broken fence overlooking a bed of roses. A young lad; with white-colored hair, sat on the ground just before the bed of roses, with his back against the fence. He thought quietly, looked at her and then back at the surrounding roses.

'No, not really. What about you?'.

'Same, but I hope it's real, haha,'.

She laughed, swung her legs, and said, 'I want you to promise something, Huno,'.

'What's that?'.

'Promise me you won't follow me when I leave.'

'Why do you think I would follow you?'.

'I don't think you would, but I know you are thinking about it,'.

Mia looked at him and continued, 'and when you think about something, fifty percent of the time you end up doing it,'.

Huno laughed, 'is that so?'

'Yes,' Mia replied and stretched her right hand towards him, 'so promise me, okay?'.

Huno breathes in slightly, stretched his left hand to hold her hand, and replied, 'fine I promise,'.

Mia smiled and added, 'don't worry. I believe you'll find a reason not to follow me with time,'.

'Yeah right, I doubt that though,' Huno rolled his eyes.

'oh the sun is setting. We need to hurry back,' he jumped up and said.

'Yeah, it's almost time for dinner,' Mia got down as she said.

'Man, I'm starving,' Huno held his stomach as it growled.

'Hehe,' Mia giggled.

'Beep,'

'Beep,'

'Beep,'

'Beeeeeeeeeeeppppppp,'.

'Time of death, 4:55 pm,'.

...

'We are gathered here today because of our beloved daughter, sister, and friend. As we lay her to rest, we hope that her beautiful soul will rest in peace. We...,'.

'Oh, it's raining again,'.

'Will he be alright?'

'I don't know, I feel sorry for him,'

'Hey Seth, isn't that the guy who was always around her?' a tall young lad asked his companion.

'Oh yeah, I feel sorry for him, he lost his parents while he was seven, so he has been living in the orphanage ever since, he met her and you can say they grew up like real siblings, who would have thought he will end up losing her,' the one named Seth said.

'Are you serious?'

'You are new to the orphanage. Everyone knows they were really close,' Seth replied.

'That's sad. It's painful for us orphans to find someone we can actually call family and then lose them again'.

'Yeah, fate is cruel sometimes, oh the rain is getting heavier,' Seth said.

'Emily, I wonder how he is doing?'

'Rachael, why do you ask when we all know?' Emily replied. 'Oh, the rain is getting heavier. Where are the umbrellas? Janet?'.

'Don't panic,' Janet said while handing over two umbrellas.

'I think we should get going. The rain is getting too much,' Emily said. 'Is it alright to leave him here?' Rachael asked.

'He probably won't bulge even if we try to get him back. I think we should let him let it all out, and don't worry, the sisters will take care of him,' Emily said. 'That's true,' the others agreed.

'Let's go,' Emily said, while staring at a grave covered with flowers. Directly in front of the grave stood a boy with white hair. He was the closest to the grave, standing between it and the various groups of people around, and he was the center of almost everyone's attention. Although everyone was sad, everyone also knew they weren't as sad as he was.

As if he was the one Emily talked to when she said 'let's go', the lad turned and left. All eyes stared at him and avoided his gaze as he walked away.
