The same woman on the left side of the room spoke. “You seem to know a great deal about Lisa and the Werewolf Organization…”
“And you are wondering how I know all this? The family that lost their baby daughter hired me, and I went after the perpetrators, thinking that they could be Werewolves that were trying to cause problems between Werewolves and normal Humans, and during that mission, I found the same evidence they did. I delivered everything to the Werewolf Organization, and guess what? They did nothing because it was more advantageous to their propaganda if Lisa and Davis kept on being seen as villains. Unfortunately for the Organization, I am not dumb, and I sent copies to several newspapers and internet news websites. They wanted to accuse me of working against the Werewolf Organization, but they gave up that idea because it would damage their reputation. As you can see, things are never as they seem, and you, being an Enforcer, should refrain from making assumptions, especially when there is so much proof that refutes your stupid accusations.”
The woman frowned and spoke with a surprised look, “Now I remember you… You work as a Bounty Hunter, tracking not only Werewolves but also Humans that have committed crimes against Werewolves! You are also Aniya Rossi and Nick Kerrish’s daughter! Why did you choose to become an Enforcer, if, as you said, we only kill Werewolves? We also arrest them, you know?”
“My reasons are none of your business, lady, but I guess I can at least say that I like to understand both sides of this conflict. You should try something similar someday. I was once a member of the Rossi Pack, but I disagreed with them several times. I also met and spoke with Davis and Lisa, and we share different opinions on many aspects. Now, I want to know more about the Enforcer Unit. Unlike you, I think before making judgments, and I know things might change one day, and you all might become part of the military when a full-out war starts between normal Humans and Werewolves. The Werewolf Organization has been trying to prevent that over these past years, but instead of improving, things are becoming worse, mostly because of their stupidity, with them always worried about what normal Humans think or say about us.”
As Allen Brooks clapped his hands to call for attention, he announced, “Regarding this subject, and because it is appropriate after Miss Aurora’s point of view, we received this morning a video from Lisa McCarty. It is different from the usual videos that she normally sends to television channels, so watch it in silence and attentively.”
He then grabbed the remote of the huge screen behind him, and Lisa’s freckled face and red hair appeared, seated next to Davis, her always serious husband. She spoke, and everyone in the room heard her words, which were a clear announcement of danger to come. “Hello, Enforcers. Some of you may not know this, but I am still, up to this day, the highest authority in your Unit, and the reason the Enforcer Unit exists. I lost my rank when I clashed with the Rossi Pack and left, and my different ideas and points of view annoyed the Werewolf Organization so much that they labelled me as ‘persona non grata’. This message is a warning for you all because even after what the Organization tried to do to make you all hate me, the Enforcer Unit is still my most valuable accomplishment. Things have been changing all over the World over the past few years, and one day you may receive weird orders. Still, I wish to remind you of the vow you all took when you joined, and remind you of the guidelines: track down and arrest any criminal Werewolf, not kill on the spot; do not close one eye on anyone, including the Werewolf Organization members or any Werewolf that is a politician, police officer, or armed forces member, if they commit a criminal act.”
Aella clenched her fists over the table. Aurora heard her heart rhythm accelerating, and she whispered, “Calm down, Aella. Your light, remember?”
She forced herself to calm down, to prevent her light from appearing, and she looked at the screen again, concentrating on Lisa’s voice. “No Werewolf or Human is above the law, or they shouldn’t be; any Werewolf caught killing or eating a Human should be arrested by any means necessary and brought to a Luna or an Alpha that will deal with them. These are the base guidelines that were at the origin of the Enforcers Unit. They were twisted over the years because of the pressure that many governments in the World imposed on the Werewolf Organization, but the guidelines are still in the original records if any of you wish to confirm. Many, many thousands of years ago, Neanderthals and Homo-sapiens lived at the same time in this World. They mingled, had children, and originated a new species. Then, nature took another leap forward, and Werewolves appeared. Like then, Humans and Werewolves now live at the same time and have children together. A new species is appearing. Conscious and talking Werewolves that can change at will between each form. This can make Humanity evolve once again or extinguish everyone if a war erupts. Think very well before killing a Werewolf, because you could be killing an innocent person who can’t control their beast side yet. That, in my book, is also a crime and, according to the twisted changes in the Enforcers’ guidelines, could make another Enforcer kill you on the spot. As you can see, twisting the guidelines that took me so many weeks to devise is a very dangerous thing to do.”
Then Lisa made a slight smile and said, “Aella ‘whirlwind’ Harlow, take care of Aurora. I know about your famous stubbornness and bad temper, but you are only alive because I made it possible. You owe me that. When Allen Brooks brought you to the Enforcers, I was the one to give you a chance, instead of ordering your immediate execution, like Aniya Rossi wanted to do. She hates Hunters with all her strength, and you, a Werewolf daughter of Hunters who was being trained in secret to become one, was sentenced to death. Davis and I were against it. You were the last drop that made us both leave the Rossi Pack. Aurora, my sweet, take care of Aella. You two will for sure be recognised in the future as a powerful force if you support each other against anyone that tries to hurt any Werewolf. Think for yourselves and follow the Enforcer Unit's original guidelines. Not the twisted versions, because those are a shame. By the way, the next time any of you meet Aniya, punch her for me, will you? And remember her that she still owes me a dinner, that spoiled and forgetful brat!”
The screen went black, and Aella was huffing. Aurora raised one eyebrow and said, “So that is why you hate my mother so much…”
Aella punched the table hard and shouted, “She and all the other Lunas out there were the reason my parents died! She is a stupid, crazy bitch that shouldn’t have been born, and…”
Slap!
Aella touched her cheek that Aurora slapped and saw her grabbing her collar and shaking her. “You will never, but never again, badmouth my mother! Never! Your parents were Hunters who for sure killed dozens of Werewolves! You lost your family? Big deal! What about all the families that your psychopathic parents destroyed? Hunters had that coming! For millennia, they killed Werewolves, even entire communities living in peace! Little children, babies, old people, pregnant women with their babies still in their wombs! You were the reason that Lisa and my mother almost killed each other in their last fight when my mother wanted to kill you and Lisa defended you! You are only alive because the last Werewolf that was trained by Hunters to kill other Werewolves was Lisa’s and my mother’s friend, and she died while trying to kill my mother during a Hunter’s mission when my mother was infiltrated in the Hunters! Lisa found out about you, and she didn’t want to see another Werewolf that was brainwashed by Hunters, dying! But the next time that I hear you badmouthing my mother, I will rub the floor with your stupid butt!”
Aella grabbed Aurora’s wrists and squeezed them, trying to force her to let go. “You are no match for me, blondie! I have trained since I learned how to walk to fight Werewolves!”
“Try me, dumbass! I have learned how to fight since I started to walk as well, but my mother taught me how to fight as a Human. At sixteen, my father started to train me how to fight as a Werewolf. You are ashamed of your Werewolf side, meaning that you have no idea how to fight like one! You would try to punch me, and my Werewolf mouth would be wide open, ready to tear your fist apart! Do not push your luck with me, Aella! It won’t end well for you! And shut off this light, moron! Are you fucking nuts? How many times do I need to tell you this?”
Aella jolted because it was only then that she noticed she was shining like a small sun, with her light completely out of control. Slowly, she forced herself to calm down, and her light diminished.
Aurora let her go and looked around at the surprised group of Enforcers, and said, “Do I need to warn you all that this is not to be spread outside these walls? What Aella can do is not to be discussed, not even between any of you or your families. If word gets out, things won’t go well for the Enforcers, because even the Werewolf Organization would make a big fuss to know why no one told them. Not to mention, several governments! Things are already weird enough, with no need for the public to find out that she can do this.”
Allen Brooks stuttered, “A-Aella… S-since when can you do that?”
The frowning brunette spoke while staring at the serious blonde in front of her, “Since I met her last night. This never happened before.”
“That means… She is your partner, and the bond triggered your light to appear?”
Aella took a deep breath, already completely lost in the blue of Aurora’s eyes, and answered, “Yes… it seems so… But… I don’t understand... Why the big deal… Last time we met, she said a few things, but I don’t get why all the fuss about this...”
Allen Brooks gulped and said, “You don’t know? That means you are an Alpha or a Luna, and you can both start a new Pack, recognised by the Werewolf Organization! It also grants you and her a seat there and two votes in any decision! I am feeling dizzy... This is huge, so, so huge… And to think that you were almost executed…”
He went to the chair at his desk on the right side of the big screen and wondered, “Maybe it is better if you never leave each other’s side… A normal Human can see your light if you lose control again, and he might tell a group of dumb normal Humans, and they will try to kill you to prevent another Pack of Werewolves from appearing. Not to mention a group of stupid Werewolves that see both of you as their leaders and want to join you and bring with them all their craziness. Shit! Aurora is right! You can’t let this leak! Even the Organization will be all over us because of this! But… At the same time, it will be a problem if one or both of you die during a mission!”
Aurora shrugged while fixing Aella’s collar, receiving a slap on her hand to let her go, and she answered, “I will not let all those possibilities rule my life. If I wanted to be controlled all the time, I would still be living with my mother. I know very well that I am her weakness, and a criminal group might try to kidnap me to force her to do what they say. Well, if I wouldn’t kill every single one of those bastards that tried to put one hand on me, that is. Even with that possibility, I still chose to work as a Bounty Hunter, and so far, no one has gone after me. For all purposes, I am Aella Kerrish, so I would appreciate it if no one here ever mentioned who my mother is. Or do I have to use my Luna influence on all of you to force you to obey me?”
They all slowly shook their heads, and Allen Brooks sighed, “I told you, Aurora, we have a hierarchy here. But... Minutes ago, you told me you didn’t know if you were an Alpha or a Luna. Now you know?”
“I am not sure, but Aella seems to boil in little water, and she acts before thinking, like some Alphas I know. Apparently, I am the one that is more level-headed in this relationship, making me a Luna.”
Aella crossed her arms over her chest and grumped, “Who told you that we have any sort of relationship? Not me, for sure!”
Aurora was about to say something, but her phone, which was inside her purse, made a beeping sound, announcing a message. She took her phone out, looked at the screen, and asked, “Mister Brooks, has the briefing ended? Because Aella and I have to go somewhere.”
The old Senior Officer made a slight frown and answered, “Almost. Why are you in such a hurry?”“I have a funeral to attend. I just got the message with the address.”“If it’s because of that, then go. The rest is just the next assignments, but I can give yours to you two when you return.”Aurora got up, grabb
When Aurora parked the car, Aella got out and looked around. There were a few cars there, and a crowd was in front of the Church, with posters and black flags with a wolf's head in white. She followed the now serious blond woman, and heard her whisper, “Don’t you leave my side. And no matter what you hear, don’t get angry or say a word. That group didn’t come for the funeral, they only came to cause problems.”“What do you mean? They are not friends of the family?”
Aurora stared at the shouting man and frowned at the sign he was holding high. “You all know, and instead of minding your own business, you came here to annoy a family that is burying one of their members. And these leeches are even worse because they feed on other people’s misery and sadness. Why don’t you all go away and leave the poor family alone? Do you honestly believe you are doing them any favours? Because I didn’t see any of you offering to help with the funeral, or inside that Church, crying with them!”“I have every right to be here, bitch! It’s a free country! If I want to protest about some filthy Werewolves that killed an innocent man, I can d
Aurora parked the car in the underground garage under a big building. Aella followed her to the elevators and said, “You know, it is kind of strange the lack of security. You just approached the car to the garage door, and there was no one here to check our identities.”She pointed at the several cameras spread in every corner of the garage and explained. “We are being watched ever since we approached the building. There were hidden cameras on the street, checking who was arriving. If I wasn’t here, you would find yourself surrounded by five Werewolves that wouldn’t let you take another step until someone could vouch for you. We don’t advertise our security like
As they were driving back to the Enforcers’ Headquarters, Aella was reading the files. She then said, sounding somewhat puzzled, “There are only coincidences and suspicions. Some words were left in the air during a conversation that sounded like a threat, and the shadow of a Werewolf leaving the room where a body was found. What they have in common is that all the killings started to happen when their Pack’s Alphas and Lunas openly supported the clauses that your mother wanted to put in the Werewolf Registration. After a few Werewolves died, the Alphas and Lunas talked with the Half-Moon Alpha, and they got the feeling it was him that gave the order, because of what he said. Feelings and suspicions are not enough proof to go after them.”“
Aurora made a slight frown and wondered what she did, but since she said nothing more, she didn’t ask. When Aurora parked the car in the Enforcers’ building, Aella hid the files under her seat before exiting the car. They walked to the elevator in silence, and when they entered, Aurora asked, “What do you think-“She went immediately silent when she saw Aella opening her eyes wide and signalling with her head to the t
Allen Brooks put the file he still had on his hand back into the drawer and took out another one that he delivered to the puzzled blond as he explained, “That was just a bluff. This is the real deal. It is about the deaths in the Packs that have a seat in the Werewolf Organization. I am not sure if it differs from what you got from the Bounty Hunters.”She delivered the file to Aella, who, after glancing over it, said, “It is the same, but only about three Packs. We got a more complete file.”Aurora got up and put one of the dead men over her right shoul
While Aurora and Aella were going to the Bounty Hunter’s office, Freddy Burton was in his living room, walking back and forth, waiting for his girlfriend to arrive. The moment he heard the front door open, he sat on the couch and touched the knife he had hidden under a pillow on his right. His girlfriend walked into the living room, carrying her purse and a file, and she had the biggest smile he had ever seen. She sat on the couch near him, and as she was

Six months after what would go down in the history of Earth as the Dawn of Werewolves, Aella was at the bridge of her fiftieth conquered kingdom ship, looking at the screen that was showing the new planet under Werewolf control, a green planet with one single and massive continent. The Lycans that lived on the surface and were in charge of controlling and increasing the original population were now under her orders.Aurora was seated in the captain’s chair and smiled as she was reading a small 3D screen in front of her eyes, and said, “It seems our cousins Lycans that were on the planet are almost here. Only evolved Lycans and the original species are on the planet. Like the other forty-nine planets under us, they are all very happy to get rid of their oppressors. Among the ships that are arriving, there are a few that have members of the original species that wish to join our fleet and get revenge on our cousins Lycans.”“Nice. Any news about the Lycan Queen and their home World?”“S
Near the moon, the Great Leader was looking at the screen in front of him, staring at the blue plantation planet that almost obliterated his troops. He clenched his claws and said, “Number One, any advice?”“I… I am not sure what to say, Great Leader. Never in the Empire’s history has a kingdom ship suffered such losses. Those Werewolves are truly amazing, and even if we can’t have most of them, we still have a few specimens. Perhaps our scientists can find out what made them like that. Their claws and teeth are by far stronger than ours. They heal as fast as we do, but unlike Lycans that fight with honour, style, and precise movements, those Werewolves fight like animals, and their attacks and movements are erratic. According to the reports, it is as if they don’t mind being hurt. If they are alive, they fight. But they are very similar to us. They only die if they get a sure hit in the heart or the head, but if we fail by millimetres and only wound them, they become savage and almos
Aurora searched for another news channel on her phone and said, “I don’t think this will end so soon. We might end up engaged in a guerrilla war, and if the Lycans lose too many troops, their Empire might give up on harvesting us and blow up the entire planet.”“That… can also happen, yes. Maybe a similar case has already happened, and they are prepared for that. Shit, we need to capture a few of them and find out everything about them. They seem to know a lot about us because they came prepared with those yellow spheres, and their ships are over the biggest Cities. Luckily for us, the Werewolf Organization headquarters is here, in a smaller City. The nearest big City is almost one hour away, and maybe in the morning we can see the spaceship from here, at this distance.”The limousine stopped in front of the tall building, and Aella exited the limousine, holding hands with Aurora. As they walked inside, no one dared stop them, and they went straight to the elevators, with Peter Clarke
On the screen, there was now a man with puffed eyes who looked worried. He glanced at the papers in his hands, put them down, and said, “I was supposed to come here and say that it was too soon to panic because no one knew the intention of those spaceships. But now we know. If what he said was true, the Werewolf gene was planted into our ancestors’ DNA pools, millions of years ago, and it seems that it is like the Werewolves always told us, that they are our next step in mankind’s evolution. It appears we were only meant to be food for those alien Lycans. It is still too soon for me to say anything, but I don’t believe mankind will fall into their plate that easily, because even if he said resistance is futile, and even if I have to fight alone, I won’t be turned into a steak for them to eat without a fight. At this moment, it is still unknown if our Werewolves will stand by our side or join them because the Lycans look like Werewolves. What I know is that my wife is a Werewolf, and k
Aella and Aurora were already in their room, with Aella seated at a table and looking at a report with the number of supplies that arrived during dinner, and Aurora was seated on the edge of the bed, looking at her and thinking. After a while, and since Aella was still too focused on the files over the table, Aurora approached her, massaged her shoulders and said, “You should relax now. You have been stressed all day, and since we arrived, you haven’t stopped worrying. Everything that could be done, you took care of it. Or others did. Today there is nothing more to do. What about if you put that aside, closed your eyes, and just stood still?”Aella sighed and said, “Yeah, but this feeling that I can’t figure out why is happening is bugging me. I don’t feel it now, but it still gives me shivers when I remember how I felt when we were in that room in the Organization building with all those Alphas near us. I guess you are right. Without knowing for sure what made me feel that way, there
The two women left the room, with all the others bowing at their passage. When Aurora closed the door behind her, Nick asked, while looking at the dead bodies, “Is it just me, or did everyone get a little spooked by the easiness Queen Aella killed them? I know she probably killed far too many Werewolves as an Enforcer, but she didn’t even hesitate.”Aniya sighed and said, “I know, and that always worried me. She likes killing Werewolves a tiny bit too much, but since she met Aurora, I think she changed. She used to be always angry, and most probably, the bond she has with Aurora and the new Pack made her realise she was not alone. She looked more at ease today than the first time I met her after she found Aurora. I was expecting her to be far more nervous than she appeared to be in the Auditorium. I am not sure, but maybe her light that made us recognise her as Queen of all Werewolves is also changing her, making her more worthy of ruling us all.”Nick slowly nodded and spoke. “I don’
Not even ten minutes went by, and there was a unanimous decision on all of Aurora’s suggestions. The following minutes were spent on preparing the speech that would be sent to every country with each change clarified and a complete explanation of the Werewolf Registration. They also agreed on a sudden suggestion that Aella made. Every Werewolf in the military of a country would immediately leave and join a Werewolf Pack. But when Aniya called for the voting to start, one woman asked, from her chair on the far left of the Auditorium, “Before we vote, don’t we n
The woman made a slight nod and leaned back in her chair again, thinking.Aurora disguised a grin because she knew her next suggestion would cause turmoil. “Second, prisons for Werewolves. I see no reason why a Werewolf should be killed because he killed a normal Human, and when a normal Human kills a Werewolf, he is arrested by the police and not killed as well. We need to find ways to make sure arrested Werewolves cannot change or escape from their prisons, perhaps with explosive collars around their necks that explode when needed. Either when the prison guards press a button, or when a security fence is breached.”Another man, on the right side of the auditorium, asked, “And those prisons would be controlled by whom? And how will the guards be chosen?”“By Lisa and Davis’ Pack, of course. They are the most impartial people I can think of. Any of you would have doubts about pressing the button that would kill a former member of your Pack, but Lisa and Davis? They won’t even hesitate,
