(Derunia City, Strata)
Derunia, one of the small cities of Strata, was harmoniously situated in between a bluish indigo sea and an emerald green Mountain steep of Brighver. The Range Rover hummed silently as its revolution spiked running on a straight path along the freeway that connected the neighboring provinces before this City.
Dreygo did not sleep for the long duration of the drive while enjoying the passing scenery of the Earth provides. Bright sky and the sun's rays kissed the horizon that connected the clouds and the sea. The water glittered as it danced below the sunshine.
The vastness of the fields beyond the freeway gives Dreygo a sense of peace which he did not dare to understand why. He just succumbed to the feeling of tranquility and the calmness of trees as they swayed gracefully against the cool weather breeze.
Viriel did not spend more time talking because he knew that Dreygo enjoyed the silence while relishing the beauty the Earth delivered. It was centuries that Dreygo sank his soul into the horrendous environment of Hell and witnessing Earth for the first of many years was like the greatest gift of Ascension.
The vast barren gradually diminished as now replaced with medium-end condominiums, low-rise hotels, public establishments, and factories. The place was getting crowded and their vehicle decelerated due to moderate traffic. Sun rays were now covered with the shadows of these establishments that gave the place an alternating shade.
Their car turned from a down steep street from the High way and towards a residential sector of Derunia until they reached low-end hotels that inconspicuously blend with the residential housing. The housing was almost of the same designs just like rowhouses but the wall colors varied.
Their car decelerated more as not to hit running children playing on a narrow street.
'Children? The children in hell are the most vicious of the humanoid demons. They do not fear death from my blade. They most probably attack me more than the adult ones.'Dreygo witnessed little boys and girls running around chasing each other with smiles on their faces and on the other side of the road were adolescents who also ran around carrying toy guns. Laughter muffled in the ears of Dreygo as his memories of hell, children crying and bloody, forcibly invaded his sights as he gazed upon the happiness these children shared.
These visions in hell are sometimes uncontrollable for Dreygo. His eyes still beheld the horrors he experienced in Demon World, not that he was afraid when he was in hell but it was that it became his life, his norm, his definition of living, and never-ending dying. Time spent in hell almost erased all his past experiences when he was alive on Earth.
'Toys? Hell's children carried cut limbs and burnt bones served as their toys. Laughter? The only laughter I hear was always myself when I kill those foolish demons.'
This was their scenery for a long stretch of the street. Viriel just smiled and said, "You know, if you are going to see heaven, immeasurable happiness not only to children but also to the adults as well."
"Point me in the right direction Viriel, I might end up going back to hell after my reincarnation," Dreygo responded with sarcasm.
"I know you will learn Dreygo. You already experienced hell and all its suffering. Just having that knowledge will give you the motivation to do good things on Earth. Or else I will come down from Heaven to slap your face."Dreygo just smiled and did not answer.
They turned to another narrow street, much quieter than the previous one. Viriel asked, "Have you sensed Demons in the area?""Yeah, I sensed them. Even their locations." Dreygo answered sitting slouchy on the passenger seat."You know, they can also sense you, right?""I know that. Only my presence but my location is vague for them. Unlike me, my 6th sense is heightened.""I expected more demons in this area, the Seer is situated just on the foot of Mountain Brighver," Viriel said as he pointed the mountain beyond the urban setting. They drove inside a narrow gate of a low-end motel, Alexis Inn. It was a brown-painted, two-story establishment and with doors equally spaced from one another. There were two or three cars parked outside. It seemed that the establishment's paint was a little bit chipped off, and the roofing edges seemed to be dilapidated.
They approached a 20-square-meter room with one staff assigned behind a desk. An old man, with soggy eyes, in his early 40's, asked the two as they stepped inside, "Hi two good sirs, I am Erick Alexis, at your service! A Room for two, a single King size bed perhaps?" As if referring to them as couples. Dreygo stared at the man looking for a hint of mockery, but there was none. It looks like he was used to seeing couples of the same gender.
"No, just for a single bed for my friend here." Viriel smiled, neglecting the ambiguous question.
"That would be 30 bucks per night. Rules and regulations of this establishment are posted behind your room's door. No curfews."The man placed a key, attached to a wooden key holder, and carved their room number on it.
"Ok, thanks!" Viriel said while he grabbed the key and started to leave the room."One more thing!" The man said and they turned their heads towards him then there was a long moment of silence. The two waited for the man to speak, but he just stared at them blankly with a subtle expression of delivering a joke or ridicule of some sort.
Then for a few seconds, he continued,
"If you want a hooker, I can call you one. Maybe you need some company." The man smiled."Well, I will just give you a call." Dreygo chuckled while saying. Viriel did not like the idea and stared at Dreygo with a slightly repellent expression on his face. Dreygo did nothing but smiled back at Viriel. They went inside the room and suddenly Viriel suggested,
"Do not enjoy yourself too much Dreygo. You should be vigilant. I can sense, a lot of prying eyes are looking for us.""Well, they better come so that I could absorb their demonic strengths." Dreygo grinned."Just be careful. I don't want my efforts will go to waste for an irresponsible demon who distracts himself from his mission.""Don't worry, Viriel. I am hitting two birds with one stone, you know. I can multitask and besides, I am still a trained Death Harbinger, maybe I can take at least a hundred demons at once.""Do not be too cocky Dreygo. We cannot assess their strengths here. Always remember, you are not immortal anymore."Viriel opened the Rover's hatch and handed him over a large duffle bag and an attaché case with money inside."Don't worry too much Viriel, you will get wrinkles from that beautiful face of yours."
"I do not age Dreygo. I am in human form but my angel powers are retained. I can kill you with one snap of my finger." Viriel's face maintained its expression while speaking those words. Dreygo could not determine if Viriel was joking or not. But probably not, as Dreygo decided to assume.'Best not to piss off angels.' Dreygo thought.
Dreygo laughed just teasing him. "I would like to see you try, Viriel."Viriel smirked as he stepped away towards his car's door. He opened it and said parting words before he went inside, "I will be back after 25 days Dreygo. Do your best. If you see Kragus before I come, do not engage him yet. Just monitor his movements. I may have your sword when I come back. That will be the best time to kill him. But without it, you stand no chance."
Dreygo just stood there near his motel door and gave Viriel a thumb up and a grin on his face. Viriel drove away and Dreygo went inside the room. He sighed upon entering. The room was small but neat and organized. It does not match its exterior's dilapidations.
His room has a red velvet colored carpet with a tribal design on it, and a 40-inched flat-screen Television mounted on the wall opposite the bed. He had a double-cushioned bed with white bedsheets professionally placed.
It was not elegant enough but better than what he used to sleep in Hell; rock bed, air filled with fine ash particles, and never-ending howls of suffering demons. He always hugged his sword when he slept or placed it on his side, at arms-length. His Hell memories flashed and compared to his room now, he was sure that he was now in heaven.
He slammed his body against the cushion like a log and his body bounced a bit. He looked above the ceiling and saw a beige-colored wooden ceiling with a round fluorescent bulb illuminating his room.
'No more ashes, no more howls, only me and this room.'
He closed his eyes and retired for the day. He slept for a few hours, his body demanded it. Suddenly, three knocks on the door caused Dreygo to be hauled from his back to a sitting position on top of his bed. He realized that he was sweating hard and panting as he had just run a few miles. He was not able to hear the knock but he was disoriented for a few moments and realized that it was dark outside.
Then again, the three knocks on the door, now heard by Dreygo. He quickly grabbed his dagger from his duffel bag and went towards the door with silent strides and pressed his cheek on it, trying to overhear something outside. It was silent but only large heavy breaths reached his hearing.
He knew somebody was outside and said, "Whoever you are, go away or I will stab this pointy thing in your throat."
"Ah.. I am Elaine Marks. Viriel sent me to accompany you on your journey to the Seer of Derunia." A faint female voice with a hint of fear, obvious to her tonality. Dreygo did not sense a demonic presence outside his door, only from a few blocks away from the motel.
He realized a small pencil hole covered with glass situated at the center of the door at normal eye length from the ground. It was a peephole. He buried his eye in that hole and saw a slightly frightened pretty woman, wearing glasses on a black coat.
'She seems friendly. I will find out.' Dreygo opened the door for her and she rushed in. As she took a step inside his room, the aphrodisiac fragrance of lavender invaded his room and her dark hair carried the scent as it swayed while untangling her hair clip.
Dreygo just stood in front of her, speechless, watching her as she was taking her coat off. In the eyes of Dreygo, this beautiful face was beyond words, his mouth semi-opened and his breathing increased. She wore light makeup that emphasized her smoky eyes and her fine reddish lips. Her face matches her scent. She smiled at him and said,
"Can I sit down?"
(Hall of Manuheim, Heavenly world) Shimmering Gold, white marble, and white-colored concrete constructed the Angel Halls of Manuheim, The capital country of Heavenly World. Its four chandeliers of gigantic ball-like diamonds hung majestically along the vast grand hall and were emphasized as they suspended along with large cylindrical columns perfectly lined up towards the Supreme throne. These chandeliers, glittered when they swayed very delicately as the breeze touched their elegance and precarious design. The grand designs of each tileset constructed the wide flooring of the grand hall, with a Red velvet carpet with abstract Aztec designs on its pleats. The enormous concrete hall sat on a steep rocky hill that made the structure's beauty emanate more in this holy place, emphasizing this side of the Heavenly kingdom. Bed of flowers strewn across the wide cobblestone pathways from the hall's entrance to downhill towards the white simple structures, almost of uniform design. Large o
Derunia, Earth The night was still young but Dreygo felt weary and exhausted. Maybe it was his humanity, that told his body to rest and to eat. He was not accustomed to on-time meals when he was in hell which made his mortal body difficult in adjusting. Given with the circumstances, it still felt like heaven as he was not hearing any more Demon howls, Hell monsters' growls, and the eternal deafening sound of fire flares consuming timber, eating everything in its path. Now, all silence, like music to Dreygo's ears. All he heard were car horns and dog barks but such noise did not surmount in hell. The Hell noise made him loathe to sleep, even close his eyes. If he does, never-ending nightmares will flood his dreams. He was used to it or rather immune. Dreygo was a bit annoyed, his peaceful sleep was disturbed by the irritating knock on the door. But when he saw Elaine Marks, it was almost a feeling that he was gifted from the Heavens. A beautiful face such as hers. She was like a fal
Medeyin Airlines, Kanlun Mountains, Zierra Continent Two thousand passengers shooked as the Medeyin Airlines withstand the turbulence as it sliced through thick stratus clouds when it flew above the rocky and steep mountains of Kanlun. The sun rays gleamed through the circular glass windows lined equally at the passenger's side of the plane. Its elegance and size made innate assurance with the passengers that never had in history that this type of plane crashed, most especially from one of the largest reputable airlines, Medeyin. In business class, about ten passengers were comfortably lying and sitting on flexible reclining cushion seats, it could be declined or inclined, or upright. This portion of the airline, nearest to the pilot's cabin had more privacy than the economic seats at the mid-to-back portion of the plane. Each passenger had more legroom and more features they could choose from depending on their liking. They could watch movies with small LED screens attached to the
(Alexis Inn, Derunia) "Breaking News! Medeyin Flight 656 was reported to crash yesterday, four in the afternoon. The Medeyin Flight Airlines Corporation had said to the public that a total of about Five Hundred passengers were on that flight including the Multi-Billionaire Lester White and his known colleague Doctor Julio Magno." "They were supposed to land at Kanlun province to heal the sick indigenous people of an unknown virus outbreak in those mountains. The last report from the pilot said that their right-wing engine failed and blew up, seemingly to be a mechanical error." "Official technical reports are still in question as of this moment and the Leaders of Medeyin Airlines refused to give an official statement. According to our source, they are still investigating what happened. As we speak, rescue teams were dispatched to the crash site, looking for possible survivors. But until now, they haven't found one yet. We are saddened by this incident and the city of ...." The Tel
Derunia mountains Fog settled about a hectare of land in Derunia's Mountain. The fog was unnaturally present, only covering a small portion of the vast growth of rainforest. Crows frequently flew within the fog's reach as it gave enough shade to darken the place. Tree trunks were high enough like sycamore and leaves were thick and the branches wide, that sunrays hardly penetrated its reach to the ground. This place was always quiet and gloomy, only the sound of crickets and the sound of rustling leaves as the breeze danced in between the gaps of tree trunks stood out beyond the quietness. The fog was the witch's magic, an aura to provide obscurity. It held the power to weaken normal human beings if they linger even for a few minutes. At the center of this thick fog was a large wooden house, its flooring elevated from the ground by large wooden foundations. It was like a large haunted cabin in the woods surrounded by some sort of mist that hazed the background. The house held the Se
Derunia Mountains Elaine Marks walked a few steps ahead of Dreygo as they tread towards the Seer's location. Dreygo could not stop the urge to glance at the Prophetess's curvy body and swaying butt cheeks as she strode against twigs and leaves that the forest provided. Elaine wore skimpy shorts, exposing her white leg complexion and her hair, pony-tailed, also exposed her pale white nape and a baby shirt that hahungight above her navel revealing her smooth-skin midriff. She was very stunning in the eyes of Dreygo. He saw numerous beautiful demons in the Demon world but they seemed to be corrupted with immense sin and their skin tested by the harsh environment of Hell. But the beauty of a human being, like Elaine, was pure and untouched. It seemed that Dreygo had not much of a choice but to admire this beauty in front of him. "I think we are getting closer," Elaine said while panting from an hour's walk. "How do you know?" Dreygo asked. "I can feel it now. And the Forest is gettin
Brighver mountains, Derunia Dreygo cautiously walked towards the path that Elain had directed. The voices again echoed in his hearing, somewhat calling his name. 'The magic playing tricks on me. Well, I could handle that. I am a Demon. I have experienced more of this in hell.' He forced the idea. Dreygo fixed his eyes now on his direction and disregarded the voices. He should be more vigilant as the Seer's territory was nearing. Finally, a wooden house silhouette appeared from afar, and its surroundings were hazy because of the fog. He prowled from tree to tree anticipating enemies nearby. The house was heaved by trees and he took advantage as he hid behind the large tree trunks. The place was quiet but the cawing of crows increased as if they scavenged for human or animal corpses. A different stench now unpleasantly entered Dreyo's smell. It was like a combination of burnt or cooked herbs and sacrificed animals, as he had imagined. 'Witches and their witchcraft.' Dreygo smirked.
Brighver Mountains, Derunia Burnt twigs and different colored leaves created the smoke as it danced in between Dreygo and the Seer. The smell was different, seemed to have mixed with other elements that created a foul smell as if they just finished the witch's ritual. They sat comfortably and Dreygo sensed no hostility within the area and with the Seer. "There are a lot of things I need to talk about, Harbinger." The Seer began while she offered a cup of tea to Dreygo which he instantly refused. "There is only one thing I need to know from you, Seer. It is the current location of Kragus Manaroth." Dreygo sounded in a rush. "Before I tell you his whereabouts, let me enlighten some thoughts for you to ponder." The Seer said and she continued, "Do you know why they call me a Seer, Dreygo?" "You better hurry up, Seer for I am very impatient." Dreygo taunted the Seer while he started to grip the blade in his right hand. The Seer did not even flinch from Dreygo's taunts nor she regarde
It was the rain that woke Dreygo up. The gentle drops of the rain like small drums on his small hut roof had struck him with nostalgia. His head rang hard as if he had been asleep for years. His knees teetered as he tried to stand from the bed and found himself leaning against the wooden wall. His energy was drained maybe from the long slumber, he thought. He tried to think of something, but he knew that the world he was in was not a memory, nor the past, it was a new world. The feeling of nostalgia had suddenly visited him, escorted with pain, and depression. The reason was vague for the emotion he had experienced. He feared ever digging further into the root of what rumbled inside his stomach, deep in his thoughts something had lingered. He knew only sadness was waiting for him if he ever fathomed the reason. He took gentle strides outside the bedroom, his sole felt cold against the wooden floor. The woodwork was great, greater than he could ever build. The shack was small, and the
“Elaine, start the incantations!” Viriel suggested. “We will triangulate him.” Elaine opened the book of Forbidden Spells. “Dreygo ready your weapon.” “Wait! You said, there is a sacrifice, what is it?” “Do not to worry, Dreygo. Just do your thing. Keep Kragus weak and I will do the rest. Viriel, hold him again with your vines. He had no powers at the moment but we have very little window of opportunity here.” Viriel summoned again the vines, now they were deadly as ever as Anacondas in the deep rivers of Amathon. The pointy sharp tips of the vines like-blades, weaved through Kragus's body. Kragus incinerated them eventually, but it gave a heavy toll on God as his knees trembled right after. “You can all stop what you are doing, and I will reward the three of you. Kings and Queen of realms. You will have power and riches you can never imagine.” Kragus tempted, his words bubbled with blood. “Stop with your lies, Kragus. You are going to die now.” Dreygo said as he stabbed his swor
The Portal Keepers were giants riding with horses twice as large as cattle. They did not speak; their presence spoke for themselves. Their empty rustic helms held no face, only a long mantle of torn cloth that covered their bodies. Skeleton arms were mounted with rustic armor and gauntlets that held their weapons. Kragus was even silenced as their horses set foot on the ground. They stopped neighing and the horses stared at Kragus with a deadly intent and one portal keeper glanced at Dreygo. The harbinger was stunned by their presence as if one move would kill him instantly. He could not read their intentions, their plans, or how they fight, they just stood there as if they were greater than the God in front of them. The Hag finally drowned in her own blood and dropped dead to the ground. Elaine released a heavy sigh after their skirmish of black magic. She won, defeated a Century-old witch but it gave out a large toll on her. Weakly she stood against Viriel but happiness was plastere
“Now, Dreygo. This will be my last offer. Are you going to join me or join your comrades who had died in battle?” Kragus asked. He recovered and a mantle of aura could be sensed from afar. The Seer was beside him, delivering the Ferrum Minus back to God’s hand. “Welcome back, Lord Kragus.” The Seer whispered. “The clock is ticking, Dreygo. What are you going to do? I do not have time to wait all day. There is so much to do.” “Just kill me now, Kragus. I do not want to join with the likes of you. A scum to the realms! You made me what I am today, and you have shared your power. This does not give you the right that you can bend my principles. Kill me, if you don’t, I will kill you.” Dreygo answered. “So, you are determined to keep your decision on taking a God like me, even if it's impossible. Dreygo, I like your persistence. You have come this far and become the most powerful being in Hell, second to me. It is sure that I admired you, even from the start. You are my creation and my
As the Nocturnals and Kragus’ fight pressed on without any form of stoppage, the ground shook hard, an earthquake, so strong and abrupt. It was not because of their fight but something more dubious happening underneath them. The ground cracked and depressed as if they were pulled down to a hollow space underground. Dreygo ran himself to safety to where the cracks stopped. The birds flew everywhere as if the whole mountain was shaken. The fight between the Hell god and the Nocturnals had stopped momentarily. Something burst out from beneath the center of the crater and suddenly, vines sprouted. They grew so fast as if their growth were accelerated a billion times more than normal. The vines became larger as they emerged and crawled towards the air vertically. They intertwined so grotesquely but beautifully; one could not understand the combination of the natural design with less feeble-minded beings lesser than the gods. As it grew almost a kilometer high, the branches sprouted outwar
“I know you’re out there, Dreygo!” Kragus called out. His voice was fierce but calm, but somewhat tired like a man drank too much but could still hold his composure. The Hell God sauntered closer towards where Dreygo was hidden, his sword dragged against the ash ground. Dreygo went out from the shadow of the boulder and made himself visible to his enemy. His beast transformation was still intact, it was a good thing he thought. Now, the only question that flooded his thoughts, can he defeat the weakened Hell God? or was it another Hell God’s misdirection. He had to secure victory for this fight and should give his all, no second chances, otherwise it would mean the end of the three realms. “Well done, Kragus. You have proven yourself the most powerful of all three realms. Then, what’s next? Sit yourself on the throne and turn the realms like hell?” Dreygo responded. “We will cross the bridge when we get there, Dreygo. The offer still stands. Stand by me and you will become a God. I
It was too late. The Kraken was only a diversion and Arkeus had fixated his attention on killing it. Even Dreygo and Sarakiel had bought the same distraction. It gave ample time for Kragus to rally strength to conjure his ultimate weapon. His Solar Flare and Hell Freeze combined. Flame as bright and hot as the sun and frozen wind gust freezing everything it touches, both phenomena in one plane on opposite sides and Kragus was at the center. It created a dome around the two Gods, it was faint at first, but it became more visible as time passed.A dome made of flame and cold chilling air combined, it seemed that Kragus’ ultimate power was a God killer, Dreygo thought. The look on Arkeus’ face was stunned and surprised. Dreygo and Sarakiel was outside of the dome, but they could see passed through it. Dreygo could not explain but the dome was horrific to look at. Never in all his waking life had seen such powers of opposite character were merging into one. Even science could not fathom a
The Templar’s Hall cracked open as two Gods clashed each other with their unfathomable might. Kragus summoned a flame that engulfed his arms and Arkeus with his wind and lighting on both palms and with tremendous speed and energy, everything was devastated as both clashed together. And as the dust settled, the two gods were both gone, only the rays of the sky light shone through the devastated ceiling. Sarakiel had difficulty in standing up as his skin was burnt. But he was healing. Dreygo followed as he jumped through the ceiling and landed on the garden outside the hall. He found them just over the outskirts of the city boundaries as the clash continued, just at the foot of the mountain Stoic. He could feel the small quakes of the ground trembled below his feet. Lightning came and a gush of a deadly wind all in one place where the fight transpired. Flames and Ice also towered as assumed Kragus with his attacks. Dreygo ran towards to where the fight took place. It would take him ten
Just right before Dreygo had to jump for an attack, Kragus faced him and said, “Remember, Dreygo. Remember, who you serve and remember the stakes for killing me. I know you have prepared on the knowledge of conjuring the Forbidden spell.” The Hell God smiled. It gave Dreygo a jolt of memory of the powers the coursed through his veins were just borrowed from the Hell God.Sarakiel sauntered to the dead angel bodies and took one sword lying on the ground. Without hesitation Sarakiel moved almost unnoticed by Dreygo as the former grasped the sword. Sarakiel poured everything on his sword attacks, even shouting at every strike. Dreygo could feel the heavy reverberations of steel hitting against steel in an incredible showcase of skill. It was intense and fast. But Kragus just defended them all with his sword, wide and light, almost effortless and without even delivering a single counter attack himself. As if Kragus was just observing or relaxing as their skirmish lengthened. It was seemin
