81. Uneasiness

Rudeth felt a sense of unease as he made his way back to the banquet floor. The grand hall was filled with nobles, all dressed in their finest attire, and the air was thick with the scent of perfume and wine. The sound of chatter and laughter echoed throughout the hall, but Rudeth couldn't enjoy any of it. Devon was nowhere to be seen, and this was not part of their plan.

“I thought I had told him to move together with me,” mumbled Rudeth in a monologue. “At the very least, he could tell me where he’s going or what to do.”

He roamed around the hall only to be met with everyone but Devon. The waiters who seemed to take notice of his confusion had started to offer their services.

“Sir, you seem so flustered. Is there anything we can help?” offered one of the waiters.

“Yes, that would be so kind of you. Actually I was looking for my escort,” stated Rudeth. “You couldn’t miss him. He was the only one around covered from head to toe.”
