Chapter 20

The two teams stood in the arena battle ground as they both stared at each other for a while. No matter how platonic they wanted to be, they both knew one fact. Right now they were enemies. Ashlee knew this already and immediately got straight into her role. As for Sora well even in such a difficult situation like this he’s still a playful kid.

“Go easy on me Big sis” Sora said with a silly smile.

“...”

Sora looked at Ashlee and noticed she had a serious look on her face. No it’s not just that, her aura was different too. Sora tried his playful approach again..

“Big sis you’re so serious. Just chill..”

But..

“Hey you new kid!” Ashlee called Gabriel with a nonchalant tonality.

“Huh? Me?”

“Yes you.”

“I just want to apologize before the fight starts because I don’t plan to go easy on you. The tournament will require me to go a little extreme.”

Ashlee said in a serious tone. She knew if this was a game of nature right now, she’s the predator while her opponents were her preys so she was apologizing to her prey before devouring him. Just from the way she was speaking she was acting  strictly professional as a fighter right now.

“Well right back at ya. I don’t intend to lose to you either so be prepared for a fight” Gabriel replied Ashlee in an optimistic manner.

“Hey you! I haven’t forgotten how you humiliated me. This time I’m gonna return the favor” William shrieked with a pissed-off look. It was obvious he still had a feeling of embitterment towards Gabriel. But Gabriel was unaffected by William’s negative emotions. If there’s anything he was thinking of now, it would be winning.

“Gabriel” Sora called out to Gabriel in a light tone. It turns out even with his playful personality he knows when to get serious.

“You remember what I told you about big sis right?”

“Yeah” Gabriel answered with his eyes narrowed towards Ashlee.

“You know what to do then. And about that my ability? We won’t be using it in this fight. We’ll save it for Daniel. It’s gonna be our trump card against him”

“I understand”

Gabriel answered Sora. He currently had a nervous feeling and some anxiety right now. It was obvious he was feeling tensed right but he didn’t contemplate much on the feelings. He already knew his feelings weren’t his choices, they were just feelings. He knew his choice right now was winning.

From the other end of the arena, Ashlee and William was standing.

“So should I take the attack?” William inquired from Ashlee.

“No. All I want you to do is to try and defend yourself”

“You’re not gonna defend me?”

“Fool. You stupid boy have you forgotten how fast Sora is? They would most likely attack you since you’re the weakest. Besides knocking you out is their best bet. They both know winning against me is impossible and we would use that fact to our advantage.”

“How?”

[Alright both Teams are already on the stage..]

Screams of the audience followed the commentator’s voice.

[Are you ready?]

The moment these words were heard the tension in the battle ground skyrocketed. It was obvious nobody was letting their guard down. And then..

[Start!!!]

*swish* Bah*

[And that’s the first attack from Sora!!!]

The instant the start signal was given Sora appeared right in front of Ashlee in a blink and gave his first attack but his opponent wasn’t fazed at all by his fast movement. She counteracted Sora’s attack like it was nothing. 

‘Teleportation Huh..I agree it can be a bit annoying to some people but I’m way beyond this. You’ll have to do way better than this to stop me Sora-Kun‘ Ashlee view the attack with contempt in her mind.

Sora immediately disappeared again and appeared behind her.

[Wow Such speed!!]

That instant he appeared behind her, he attempted for a blind blow. 

*Bah*

And immediately a sound was heard. But it wasn’t the sound of Sora’s blow landing but the sound of Ashlee counteracting the attack by catching Sora’s fists.

“You do know this won’t work on me right?”

Ashlee spoke to Sora in a nonchalant manner. Even if it was a question, Ashlee was not actually expecting to get an answer from Sora. In fact her intention for asking her question was to remind Sora of the gap in their power.

“...Wow her reaction speed is impeccable” Daisuke screamed in amazement from where he was sitting. His focus was currently in the ongoing fight. Not just him but Daniel and the rest students were attentively watching.

Machia was still watching what was going on from among the audience and the same thought occupied his mind

‘Such reactiveness and agility. This girl she’s strong’

Daniel who was watching with Daisuke had to comment in admiration of Ashlee’s performance.

“Sixth sense. It truly is a terrifying ability. She’s only just a white Gi student and she’s this strong”

“Sixth Sense. I have heard a little bit about it but I don’t fully understand it.”

“..Hmm It’s an ability of hers that lets her predict all the movements of her opponent before he makes them. Because of this skill her defense is impenetrable. As far as she’s in Stratton Dojo beating her is almost impossible”

“Impossible? Is she that strong?”

“Yes she is. They don’t call her the Stratton Goddess for nothing. Looks like you’re not getting it yet. The whole of Stratton Dojo is her Zone”

“Zone?”

“Yes her zone...The sixth sense.Let me put it in a way you can understand. The floors, the seats and the walls everything that concerns Stratton Dojo are her eyes and ears. In other words she sees everything”

“In that case it’s going to be hard to deal with her. From your description it’s as if she’s...”

“... A God” Daniel completed Daisuke statement before he could finish it.

Sora kept attacking Ashlee with intense speed and his teleportation skill.

“But Sora is not looking bad either”

“Very true but Sora’s not evenly matched with her. Anyway he’s still had to attack. He had to at least buy some time so that those other two can settle some scores themselves”

While Sora was preoccupied with Ashlee, Gabriel dashed towards William.

‘Wow he’s faster than before’ William was shocked at the improvement as Gabriel closed the distance between them in order to attack.

‘But..’

( “How?”

“How?. What do you mean how? Of course you  have to use that new ability of yours.” Ashlee answered

“New ability? What new ability?” William asked with a dumbfounded look on his face. It’s as if he was lost with what Ashlee was saying.

“I’m talking about the ability of you exploding.”

“Huh? How did you know about that? No one has seen that yet?”

‘Shit...I forgot Sixth sense she’s seen it already. She really is this Stratton’s Goddess’

“I can’t use that ability.” William said in a disappointing manner.

“And why is that?” 

“It’s because that explosion only happens when I try to increase my body size over my limit. And if I do just that I become unconscious. In order words I’ll be knocking myself out if I perform the ability you’re asking for.”

“Can that ability knock out closed by opponents too?”

“Huh? Yes it will knock them out cold if they are close to me.” William belatedly answered Ashlee. 

“Then that’s what you will do. You will use the explosives skill.”

“Are you crazy? If I lose consciousness we will lose!”

“You said it can knock out your opponent right? When the start signal is given the regular human will attack you while Sora would try to hold me off.”

“...”

“If both of you are knocked out, our teams will both get the four minutes penalty and that would make it a one on one battle between me and Sora. I’m sure you already know who will be the Winner by the time you wake up.”

“...”

“So you know what to do... knock out the regular human. And let me settle the rest quickly” ) his conversation with Ashlee flashed through his mind as he saw Gabriel right in front of him. Gabriel was right in front of him as Ashlee had predicted. 

 

‘They don’t call her the Goddess for nothing’ William chuckled.

This was his time to attack...

‘No it’s not just my time to attack’

“Hey how about I return the favor from the last time?”

In that split second Gabriel eyes became narrowed towards William. In that moment Gabriel got this ominous feeling just from looking at William’s facial expression. His facial expression wasn’t an expression of shock or even terror. Even if William wanted to counteract his attack, this was not the kind of expression a person who wanted to counteract an attack gives. No this was something different...

‘...this is a facial expression of certainty. What is this guy up to?’ Gabriel tried to figure out what his ominous feeling was about but William smiled and said..

In that split second it turns out it was not only Gabriel got the ominous feeling. Sora felt it too from where he was fighting against Leah.

‘What the hell?’

Before he could react he was held down by Ashlee. She gripped Sora’s Wrist to keep him from teleporting.

“Hey it’s time for my revenge!”

And then it was all...
