As they got closer to the burning area, they heard explosions and cries of pain from the soldiers. It made both of them continue to pace their horses to reach the battle area quickly.
"TAKE BACK THAT BRIDGE!" shouted Ronald.
He ordered his remaining troops to do their best to retake Stratham Bridge. Ronald did it for a reason: to prevent Valcke's troops from crossing it.
Tobias and Giselle finally arrived at the battleground. They saw many border guard troops injured, not minor injuries, more like serious injuries. Tobias pulled out his sword and dismounted, as did Giselle, who attacked with magic power while still sitting on her horse.
[Magic Skills: Rain of Fire Spears]
Right after casting the magic spell, a red coloured magic circle appeared above the sky where the battle took place. The circle's size was huge, covering all of them.
Surprisingly, hundreds of fire spears shot out from the magic circle, striking anyone underneath. Darwin, who fought near Thompson, realised the owner of the fire magic.
"There's no mistaking it. This is Giselle's magic," said Darwin.
[Magic Skill: Hexagon Wind Shield]
Thompson cast a magic spell from the white circle that appeared in his right hand. Instantly a strong wind gathered in front of Thompson's hand and formed a large shield. The middle-aged man raised his hand, allowing him to use the shield to block Giselle's fire spear attack.
Some of the troops were protected, but the rest were hit by the spears causing their bodies to burn instantly. Tobias was different, he didn't stand still for protection, but he focused on attacking Valcke's troops amidst the rain of fire spears.
"WATCH OUT FOR ATTACK!" shouted one of Valcke's soldiers right before Tobias slashed his neck.
[Myurajin Moon's Second Technique: Moon Constellation]
Myurajin Moon's second technique made Tobias' speed increase many times over. His sword emitted a white-coloured beam with an increase in speed every second. Tobias ran at full speed, cutting down Valcke's defenceless troops due to the two attacks from Atrea's side.
The people who took cover from Giselle's attack could only gasp in awe as Tobias wiped out almost all of Valcke's attacking troops. It was so fast that they couldn't keep up with Tobias' pace with their vision.
From what could be seen, only a white shadow appeared from the sword Tobias was wielding, considering it was night, so it could be seen clearly.
His attack this time had a certain characteristic. Each attack gave a small explosive impact and was continuous if Tobias could attack up to the seventh person. When seen from the air, Tobias' white shadow would form a constellation in the sky.
The rain of fire spears stopped, and Valcke and Atrea's troops came out of their safe places, unlike Tobias standing tall alone among Valcke's wounded soldiers. They all groaned in pain as Tobias' slash wound was deep and fatal.
Although he had defeated many Valcke warriors, Tobias was not unharmed by their attacks or Giselle's fire spear. His long-sleeved clothes were damaged in several places, blood dripping from his head, arms, and stomach due to sword cuts.
"Seize the bridge!" said Ronald, ordering his troops to move immediately towards Tobias, who happened to be on the bridge fifteen metres below the river.
Tobias turned his head, looking to the south where Atrea's troops were running over, as he looked to the north when Valcke's troops did the same.
He glanced to the right and left, looking at the deep pit with a large stream of water below. At first glance, this bridge was the only way to get north and south.
"Hey, Amu," Tobias called out.
[Yes, Master. What do you need?]
"How much chance do I have of winning against them?" asked Tobias, looking at Valcke's troops, who continued to run closer.
[5%]
[You're not in the best condition after my examination]
[Best option: Defend or retreat]
"You're probably right. I'm starting to feel tired from the techniques I used earlier," Tobias said.
Since the distance between Valcke's troops and Tobias was already close, Tobias had no choice but to fight against all of them. Giselle, who was in the back area, was anxious to see the battle on the bridge, especially for her brother, who was between them.
[Myurajin Moon's Third Technique: Full Moon Swirl]
[Warning!]
[Host condition is in danger. Recommended to cancel orders]
Tobias ignored the warning while gripping his sword with both hands. His legs hardened, eyes reddened, and his body tensed up. He leapt forwards and twisted his body with such force that many Valcke soldiers fell off the bridge.
That night, rain poured down on the battleground for some reason. Ronald knew very well that fighting in the rain would not be favourable for anyone. He ordered his troops to run backwards, as well as Tobias.
"Tobias! Stand down," Ronald pleaded, speaking sternly to Tobias.
Tobias nodded his head. As he saw Valcke's troops begin to withdraw from the battle on the bridge, Tobias had no reason to pursue them.
As he ran towards the temporary border post in the south, an arrow pierced Tobias' body right in the back. Tobias fell so hard that he went limp, even vomiting blood.
Unexpectedly, the arrow's blade had been laced with poison beforehand. Troop Commander Valcke realised Tobias' ability would be very troublesome in the next battle, so he waited for this opportunity to attack.
"Bring that fucking young man's head to me!" commanded Troop Commander Valcke, prompting several soldiers to come forward with the intention of killing Tobias.
The retreating Atrea troops didn't have enough chance to save Tobias, as he was lying quite far away from the Atrea border post.
"SOMEBODY SAVE HIM!" shouted Giselle, seeing that none of the Atrea border soldiers wanted to save her brother.
In the end, Ronald sprinted towards Tobias through the pouring rain. Tobias raised his head and realised he was in danger, but rather than being killed, he chose the crazier option.
Tobias rolls his body over the bridge, through the gap in the railings and flings himself into the large river. This startled Giselle, Darwin, and Thompson. Ronald, who had been chasing him, stopped with an expression of disbelief.
[Magic Skill: Fire Dragon's Rage]
From the magic circle created in front of Giselle's hand, a fire dragon rushed out with flames all over its body. Also, from the mouth of the fire dragon, a large enough flame came out that attacked Valcke's troops until they could not avoid its attack.
This caused many of Valcke's troops to die, burned by the magic that Giselle had cast. The woman was furious that their actions had caused Tobias to die.
"I will burn them all!"
Tobias himself fell into a river with a large flow. Fortunately for him, he didn't fall on the rocks, so his head and body could be saved. Tobias' body was carried away by the river for two hours.
Eventually, the river reached a small village area. An old man meditating on a rock was distracted when he heard something behind him. The sound came from the direction of the swampy grasses, which often harboured crocodiles.
"What has happened to him?" asked the man when he saw something shocking from behind the swamp grass.
Tobias fell down with an arrow wound in his back, can he survive the strong river flow? Keep following my story and don't forget to vote, review, and share with your friends. Thank you and happy reading :)
The battle at Stratham Bridge ended with casualties on both sides. Valcke's troops chose to retreat by treating their wounded soldiers, as did the border troops in Atrea. While they were retreating, Giselle cried bitterly on the bridge, looking at the abyss below. She was devastated to lose her talented brother, never expecting Tobias to die so soon. Thompson and Darwin were also saddened but not as devastated as Giselle was. Darwin walked through the pouring rain toward Stratham Bridge to get to his sister. "The border troops are going down the river to find Tobias' body," Darwin said. "Can't you see? The river's flow is so strong. How can you find him then?" asked Giselle, eyes red as she turned to look at her brother Darwin. "I know, but trust me, they'll find him," said Darwin, crouching beside Giselle as his right hand rubbed her back, trying to ease the sadness in her heart. In the end, Giselle listened to what Darwin said. She trusted that the border troops would be able t
"How did you get-""It all happened just like that. When I was beheaded, my body instantly transformed into a child in a poor family," Muino interrupted, explaining his path to transmigrate into this world.Tobias was silent. He held a wooden bowl filled with hot soup, served similar to how it was done in the previous world. Not only soup but there was rice and a bowl of fruits that looked similar to berries."Eat and recover your body quickly," Muino said. The old man was seen starting to eat dinner with Tobias but sat on the other side. The two of them were facing towards the small bonfire that Muino used for a stove, in contrast to the wooden house furnace on his house's left wall.Muino seemed to enjoy the dinner he made with simple ingredients, as did Tobias. Dinner that day was the first food Tobias had tasted after a week of unconsciousness, judging by his high desire to eat."Why did you choose to use a katana instead of the common swords in this world?" asked Muino, tidying u
*** The next day. Tobias' health was much better than last night. The headache that had hit his head disappeared three hours after the fight with the debt collectors. Now, he woke up earlier than Muino, who still slept on his bed. He took a piece of paper and left a message for the old man. It was a promise to come back after arriving in Stratham. Tobias also thanked Muino for letting him borrow his horse and gave him his best sword. "Hey, Amu," Tobias said, summoning his divine system. [Yes. Do you need anything, Master?] "How many people came from the same world as me before?" asked Tobias. [Transmigration of souls is the authority of the gods. A system like mine created by them wouldn't be able to figure it out] "I see, huh? Looks like I'll have to find out myself," Tobias replied. Once everything was ready, the young man stepped out of the house while carrying two swords on his body's right and left sides. He walked near the stables and found two horses already awake; they
It was a short distance to Stratham Town. He could see rows of houses damaged by the war through the forest's trees. Tobias stopped his brown horse as he looked around the area.He dismounted with his right hand clutching his black sword. Tobias did it for no reason. His warrior instinct told him that this area was surrounded by Valcke's troops."Get out," Tobias said. What he guessed was right, ten Valcke troops came out from their hiding place. The ten men spread around Tobias until they formed a circle and surrounded the young man."You must be one of the reinforcements!" said one of them.Tobias was silent. He held his black sword with both hands, alert with a strong stance. The threat this time was real enough for Tobias. If he failed to fight them, he would be killed."I'm not an army of reinforcements. I came to Stratham to find my family!" Tobias moaned.Hearing Tobias' words made the ten soldiers surrounding him laugh out loud. They thought the young man was a madman looking
As Tobias agreed to their offer, the back gate of Archibald's residence opened, allowing Tobias to leave the house and the city. None of Valcke's soldiers dared to approach him or even attack Tobias. Several people had been injured by Tobias' attacks; Valcke's soldiers were not stupid. Safety was more important than the man's life which wasn't worth a platoon of Valcke troops. "Bring the wounded troops to be treated. Make sure none of the soldiers attacks him," said the man who used magic, his higher position than the soldiers made them immediately obey the man's words. "Why did you let him go? Couldn't he be a threat to us in the future?" asked one of the men who happened to be standing near the magic user. "If we don't release him, I'm afraid he'll kill everyone in this place," explained the man, thinking of the worst that could happen if Tobias got angry and killed everyone in the Archibald residence. "His power is truly extraordinary and unknown to us. The wise choice is to le
"What?" asked Tobias, surprised."Who are you? Why are you full of blood?" asked Giselle, staring intently at the young man standing outside the border.Tobias' hands raised, touching his cheeks, and he felt the blood all over his face. No wonder Giselle asked such a question since Tobias' face was completely covered."Give me some water," Tobias asked one of the border guards. The man wearing armour handed Tobias a bottle of water available at the border post. The young man washed his hands and face, making his skin tone and look clearly visible to Giselle. The woman was in shock, stunned, with her mouth agape. Her hands and body shook as she saw Tobias, her brother, who she thought was dead, standing firmly in front of her."T-Tobias...?" asked Giselle, confirming with teary eyes."It's good to see you, Giselle," Tobias said, smiling. The border gate opened, and Giselle hugged the brother she had missed so much without hesitation. Tobias also embraced Giselle's body, his heart relie
*** The next day Tobias' health was much better than yesterday; even the young man felt he had fully recovered. He wore navy blue long-sleeved clothes with black pants, both of which Giselle had prepared before. On the right and left waist, two katana-type swords of different colors were attached; one was dark blue, while the other was black. For the next several battles, Tobias would use the black sword instead of the blue one since he didn't have full rights to it yet. There was a soft knock on the door to Tobias' room. The young man ordered the man to open the door, revealing a soldier wearing white armor standing behind the door. A soldier with white armor indicated that he was part of the city and noble forces, while a soldier with black was a royal soldier. "Lady Giselle expects your presence in the town square," the man replied. Tobias nodded as he told him that he would be leaving soon. Tobias walked over to the medium-sized mirror on the wall. The young man could see tha
"They have more men than Langdale. I'm sure these men can handle this war," Tobias replied.Honestly, his heartfelt upset that he could not participate in helping Equestria's army to fight Valcke. Tobias was sure Giselle felt the same way, demeaned that she had not reached the level of a magic user capable of fighting a war."But what about Mom and Luke? Are you going to ignore them?" Giselle asked."I miss them. I want to save them as well. I'm pretty confident they can rescue them both," Tobias replied. He assured Giselle there was nothing to worry about in this war. Tobias could see from the seriousness of the soldiers that they had the passion to stop the war. While they were talking, a black-armored soldier walked over. Both hands seemed to be holding the saddle ropes of a neighing horse. The soldier said Giselle and Tobias could leave on the horses."My lord gave this horse because of his generosity. Take it and do his command well," t
