The next day
Tobias left his tent on a horse, riding steadily until he reached the southern entrance.
From the entrance gate guarded by several soldiers, Tobias could see tens of thousands of troops in dark blue armor standing tall in neat lines, facing south.
The galloping of horses could be heard from the direction of the forest road, and Laura looked back, as did Edgar. They both saw Tobias arrive in a military shirt without his furry coat.
"How are the soldiers prepared?" Tobias asked.
"They're ready, although there's an inevitable fight in there," Edgar replied.
"And what about guarding the prisoners of war in Silkland?" asked Tobias, turning to Laura, for it was Laura's group's turn to watch over the prisoners today.
Laura nodded, bringing her seated body to the mount in front of Tobias, "I've already imposed strict punishments on them. If anyone tries to rebel, my troops have been allowed to kill them on the spot."
"Glad to hear it. At least they won't be homeless," Darren replied.Tobias nodded. He was sure they would be happy to return to the city, even if the war destroyed some places. After watching the refugees in the east for a while, Darren invited Tobias to step back into the city.So far, there was no significant threat to Tobias, which indicated Darren had no other intention than to put himself and the city into Archibald's hands."Where are we going?" asked Tobias, curious."We're going to the city government offices, where we'll discuss many things," Darren replied.Tobias looked to the left and right of him, right between the two bodyguard soldiers who seemed to be walking to guard their leader. Occasionally, Tobias focused on the shops on either side of the road.Darren glanced slowly at Tobias as the young man watched the food and clothing stores on his left, "Since the war, many of the demands of these stores cannot be met."
Two hours later. The sun rolled down the sky, indicating the passing of time and the coming of night. Edgar and Laura were still outside Fairspire, intently watched by thousands of city guards."We've been waiting for two hours. Is Tobias okay?" Edgar asked Laura."There's no sign of chaos from within the city. It looks like Tobias is fine-"BOMB!A powerful explosion occurred in the city, creating a huge black cloud. Looking at the town with worried expressions instantly drew Edgar and Laura's attention."Is it a signal from Tobias?" asked Edgar."I don't know for sure, but I have a bad feeling about those black smoke plumes," Laura replied.Full of courage, Edgar walked up to the city guard's leader. Edgar asked him to allow him and Laura to enter to ascertain the explosion's origin."No one can enter until the two leaders return," the man explained."Do you realize who you're dealing with?!" groaned Edgar.
*** The next day. Activities in Fairspire returned to normal. The townspeople were no longer afraid when they saw Archibald's flag waving on the watchtowers at the four entrances to the city. Some curious children walked to the entrance in the west, wanting to see tens of thousands of troops camped on the snow. Seeing his companion sleeping on the ground made Darren feel sorry for him. He had told the city staff to find empty houses for Tobias's troops, but almost all the houses were already occupied by townspeople. "You don't need to do that. By camping together it brings the troop leader closer to his own troops," Tobias replied, talking to Darren in the western area after the entrance. Valcke's thousands of prisoners of war had finished their work. With hundreds of houses repaired and occupied, Edgar told them to leave the area without weapons. "Are you sure?" asked Darren, trying to make sure. "I'm sure. After all,
***Evening. All the captains were back together as before, as well as Tobias and Liam. They were all gathered in Tobias' tent to discuss their next plan for the Sungate."How's the siege tower progress?" asked Tobias, turning his head to look at Adrian."About 80%. We just need to finish the top," Adrian said."How many days until it's all done?" asked Tobias.Adrian swallowed his saliva, trying to calculate the possibility of the siege tower being completed quickly, "About 3-4 days.""Alright, that's enough," replied Tobias."Use the trees around to build it," Liam explained. The man nodded his head, fully aware of the task ahead of him. The squad would only leave for Sungate if the siege tower was completed. All eyes were drawn to the wooden table in front of them, with the map of Atrea laid out clearly on the table."We will begin our meeting," said Tobias. All the captains, along with Liam, nodded their heads.Tobias began to place pawns in the conquered cities, including Fairspi
"You'll never win against Valcke," Gabriel said.Tobias didn't respond to the man's words. He was more focused on Liam, who was next to him. Even though they would be handed over to Valcke as a medium of negotiation, Tobias needed to take good care of them. The young man certainly didn't want the negotiations with Valcke to fail just because the three died. They would be properly fed and watered, and Tobias didn't forget to give orders to his soldiers to always clean the cages."You seem so sure you're gonna leave Equestria," Liam said."There's not a single reason that makes me think I should fight for Equestria. The arrogance they show makes me sick!" groaned Tobias, glancing sarcastically at Gabriel, who continued to stare at him intently.Tobias called out to the two soldiers guarding the carriage, they stepped in tandem towards Tobias. Both of them stood straight in front of the leader of Archibald's army, ready to receive orders from him."You keep watch over the three men. I do
The party continued into the night; the soldiers built a sizable campfire and drank around it. Many of the captains returned to their tents, tired and wanting to rest their bodies.Liam was the same; he went to say goodbye to Tobias. Tobias nodded, allowing Liam to leave. Now, Tobias was the only one there, just wanting to warm himself up by facing the large campfire.Shortly after the captains and Liam left, Captain Laura came out of her tent. She was still wearing a simple T-shirt and trousers. However, her face looked much prettier thanks to the make-up she put on.She walked over to Tobias, still sitting on a tree trunk, drinking a glass of hot tea as he warmed himself by the fire. The woman immediately sat down with Tobias."Did you enjoy the party?" Laura asked, Tobias smiling as he raised his glass."At least I can relax today before the hard days of battle come," Tobias replied."Let's talk about this in your tent," Laura pleaded, st
***The next day."When did he wake up?" asked Gunnar, curious."I don't know. Laura didn't say anything about Tobias' collapse," Karin replied. She had been the one to lead Tobias' healing. Since last night, she had smelled strange scents from Tobias' tent, like a mixture of sweat and something else. She and her soldiers had not been able to determine what had caused Tobias to faint, but the initial suspicion was that it was just the effects of exhaustion from partying from day to night."If he fainted due to exhaustion, it doesn't make sense. He has a strong endurance. He can even defeat hundreds of soldiers in battle and not feel slightly tired," Liam explained. The man knew exactly what Tobias' strength was like, so Karin's reasoning in explaining the cause of Tobias' unconsciousness was irrelevant. In that place, there were only Liam, Gunnar, and Karin. Edgar was seriously conversing with Laura about the effects of Tobias' unconsciousness."Today should be the day we plan additio
***The next day."Is he awake yet?" asked Liam, entering Tobias' tent.Liam could see Karin and some medics in the area, as well as Laura, who had asked Karin for permission to continue keeping Tobias company. This was the third day Tobias had been unconscious, which coincided with the plan to attack Sungate Castle.Karin shook her head. Tobias' body temperature kept getting warmer. An IV was injected into Tobias' body to prevent the young man from dehydrating during his unconsciousness. The news that Tobias had been unconscious for several days made the captains and other soldiers anxious, especially those who had previously fought alongside Tobias. They realised that losing Tobias would be a major blow to the troop."What should we do?" asked Karin."The engineer troops have completed their work. The two siege towers are ready to go," Liam replied, signalling that the troops should be ready to take to the battlefield."Time
