Chap 3 Mysterious Chest.

He awoke once more when the sun was high in the sky, signaling the arrival of a scorching day. After navigating through the building, he refreshed himself by washing his face and consuming his breakfast—simply bread and water. This type of sustenance was new to him, but he had no choice but to adapt and develop a taste for it. As he ate his simple breakfast, he couldn't help but reminisce about the days when he enjoyed a hearty meal with a variety of flavors.

After completing his morning meal, he meticulously surveyed the entire premises. Based on certain discoveries, it became evident that the previous occupant of the residence was a farmer. A farmer! Suddenly, a thought sparked in his mind.

'Why not pursue a career in farming?'

His mouth then moved.

"Yes, cultivating sustenance for myself. It is far superior to leading an insignificant existence. Furthermore, food is a fundamental necessity for all individuals. What if I could become a producer of food for thousands? I could attain wealth and security."

Circus was overjoyed as he contemplated the possibility of befriending compassionate and resilient individuals, knowing that he would be shielded from any potential troubles.

He then happened to develop a fondness for the location; he believed it was ideal for farming, particularly because it was far removed from any human settlements. This would allow him to establish a large farm without any interference regarding land ownership.

The vicinity surrounding the house was filled with tall grasses and small plants rather than cedar trees, as it had previously been a farm owned by the previous occupant of the house. Therefore, he would not have to cut down the large and towering cedars in order to have suitable land for farming. The only issue he faced was the lack of water. He did not find any nearby water sources, except for a river in the neighboring village, which was nearly an hour away. There were also deep, empty holes scattered across the land, remnants of failed attempts to dig wells.

"I am fortunate to have some money. I will purchase a cart and transport water from the river for the time being."

He began cleaning the house using a broken piece of metal and some tree leaves, which acted as a makeshift broom. While cleaning the room where he slept, the metal seemed to collide with another metallic object on the floor, creating a loud clanging sound. Curiosity piqued, he knelt down to inspect the source of the noise and discovered a hidden trapdoor beneath the dirt-covered floorboards. Intrigued by this unexpected find, he carefully lifted the trapdoor to reveal a secret underground chamber.

Although the trapdoor was locked, the lock had deteriorated, allowing him to easily break it when he lifted the trapdoor. Thinking that he might find something useful, Circus descended into the chamber without any hesitation. It turned out to be a one-room bunker. The entrance was the only way in and out, with no other exits or windows. It was also the only source of light, as there were no torches or lamps inside. The air was musty and stale, suggesting that the bunker had been abandoned for a long time. Despite the lack of illumination, Circus's curiosity pushed him forward as he began to explore the room, hoping to find something useful.

What he witnessed filled him with excitement. The spacious room was filled with various farming equipment and tools, such as ploughs, hoes, axes, rakes, mattocks, hand forks, watering canes, and many others. Circus couldn't believe his luck as he realized that this abandoned bunker was actually a hidden treasure trove of farming supplies.

Neatly stacked on top of each other were numerous bags. Circus hastily punched one of the bags to determine its contents.

Cough! Cough!

The punch caused a rush of dust to fill the air. Circus coughed, the dust irritating his throat. He quickly covered his mouth and nose with his sleeve.

In fact, everything was covered in a layer of fine dust. Several rodents and rats scurried away upon hearing the noise.

Nevertheless, he realized that the bag contained rice. He grabbed a hand fork and punctured a hole in the bag, causing the rice to spill onto the ground.

He made an additional observation, noting that the rice appeared dark and unattractive. Furthermore, it was spoiled and unfit for consumption. Circus was disappointed to find that the bag contained spoiled and unfit rice. He quickly realized that all the bags were likely filled with the same poor-quality rice, rendering them useless for their intended purpose.

Continuing his search, he punctured the other bags and discovered wheat, which, much like rice, had also decayed. It seemed to have endured for numerous years.

In addition, he stumbled upon four large, empty water drums, four wine barrels containing aged grape wine, six water barrels, and two oil barrels filled with oil. Remarkably, the water, oil, and wine remained in good condition. Despite the disappointment of finding spoiled rice, he was relieved to discover that the water, oil, and wine barrels had remained in good condition. This unexpected find provided some solace amidst the ruined food supplies.

As he neared the end of his exploration of the bunker, he spotted a magnificent blue chest resting on the floor. Its grandeur was unparalleled, adorned with a golden-textured blue ore. However, there was one peculiar aspect about it. As he approached the conclusion of his exploration of the bunker, he came across a splendid azure chest resting on the ground. Its magnificence was unparalleled, adorned with a golden-blue ore. However, there was one peculiar characteristic about it. It was immaculate, devoid of even a speck of dust. Circus had only entered the bunker a few moments ago, yet he was already covered in so much dust that his hair and face were barely recognizable.

"Nevertheless, let us discover what lies within," Circus murmured softly, refraining from opening his mouth wide to avoid inhaling any more dust.
