Chap 6 Let's Work.

However, Circus had recently discovered that many plants deemed wild and inedible could actually be consumed.

"Hmph, why am I thinking this way? Perhaps these vegetables are more like herbs than food. Even if that's really the case, not all of them can be herbs," Circus debated with himself.

As Circus continued to explore the world of vegetables in his head, he marveled at how the system was able to transfer knowledge directly into his mind, making the learning process much faster and more efficient.

He then spent an additional 3 skill points to master the skills of Weeding I. This only required 3 minutes, and he couldn't fathom why.

"Perhaps this skill contains less extensive knowledge."

He was correct. Weeding I skills encompassed fundamental weeding techniques, while intermediate and advanced weeding skills were categorized under Weeding II and Weeding III skills, respectively.

After those 3 minutes, he became knowledgeable about the process of weeding, something he had never done before. At home, he had only tended to flowers and his family's small orchard, but he had never taken on the task of weeding. Occasionally, he would assist others in harvesting rice, wheat, and barley.

He proceeded to Ploughing I skills, which took him 5 minutes to master and provided him with a basic understanding of ploughing techniques. However, he soon realized that there were more advanced ploughing skills to be learned in ploughing II and ploughing III. Upon completion, he felt the need for oxen to assist him in his ploughing endeavors. Ploughing necessitated physical strength and arduous labor.

Leveling I skills proved to be the easiest, requiring only a minute to master. However, the cost remained the same for all I skills, 3 skill points. He concluded with the mastery of Manuring I skills, which took 6 minutes. Although it didn't seem immediately useful, the land appeared to be highly fertile, and Circus could easily observe that. The area surrounding the structure was abundant with lush green plants, and the soil consisted of a rich blend of dark clay and humus.

Circus was quick to notice that the site was already fertile enough because the labor required to create manure gave him goosebumps. Anyway, he was still an 18-year-old kid who had grown up in a somehow rich family.

He spent 17 skill points in total and remained with 3 skill points. The second main quest was completed.

‘A little change, but it still looks pretty good. Let’s take real action to make it look prettier.’

He just mastered some skills; now it was time to begin the real work. He went into the bunker and came out with a hoe, a mattock, and a rake.

The grass and other plants surrounding the building had grown so tall that not even his head could be seen when he entered the thicket. Fortunately, there were no towering trees, such as cedars, as the previous owner had cleared them.

He first threw some rocks in different directions to scare away anything lurking in the bush. He then started weeding from the place that used to be the doorstep of the building. As he cleared the overgrown vegetation, he realized the task was more challenging than he had anticipated. The thick tangle of grass and plants seemed to resist his every effort, making progress slow and arduous.

He often stopped and cut down some little trees and shrubs that were obstructing his path. The sound of his tools cutting through the vegetation echoed through the thicket, giving him a sense of accomplishment with each small victory. However, as he continued, he couldn't help but wonder how long it would take to completely clear the area and transform it into something more manageable.

After about two hours, he stopped. He wiped the sweat from his brow and surveyed the area he had cleared so far. It was a small patch, barely making a dent in the vast expanse of overgrown vegetation.

"Phew, is this not sufficient for an area of 10 square meters?" inquired Circus, appearing fatigued. His body was sore, and he had incurred scratches from angry plants that resisted his efforts.

[The cleared area measures 22.655580 square meters.]

"More than double the required size? I had a feeling." While biting his lower lip, he swept his gaze across the area. "This is convenient. It'll save me time next time."

He set down the hoe and left the area. He drank some water, wiped his body with a cloth, and lay down in the exact same spot as before. Circus closed his eyes, feeling the warmth of the sun on his face. As he lay there, he couldn't help but think about how much progress he had made. The cleared area was more than enough for his needs, and he felt a sense of accomplishment wash over him.

After just 10 minutes, he got up. Circus stood up and stretched his limbs, feeling refreshed from his short rest. He knew there was still more work to be done, but he was grateful for the break.

"I'll get used to this... ahh-hhaaa," he yawned while picking up a mattock from the ground. It was time to till the soil and prepare it for planting. He started tilling as a joke, as if he would stop at any moment, but he didn't. He clenched his teeth and tilled the entire weeded area.

Then, he leveled the land with a rake before forming four seedbeds measuring 2m by 1m and two nursery beds measuring 1m by 0.5m. The system helped him with measurements and ensured that he created the perfect-sized beds for his crops.

He simply had to look at the area he wanted to measure and command the system to do so. The measurements would appear in his vision, allowing him to adjust them to his desired specifications. He was amazed at how efficient and precise the system was, saving him time and effort in measuring and creating the beds. With the perfect-sized beds ready, he felt confident that his crops would have the ideal conditions to grow and thrive.
