Chapter 1-They Will Regret It!

A handsome man is seen sewing a red silk dress. The ancient-looking machine is still very capable of working. He is meticulous in ensuring that the folds of the seams match the posture of the wearer. He smiles as he fits the dress onto a mannequin. His years of hard work for a small wage had paid off. He managed to buy the expensive fabric and all the necessary supplies. He didn't want to be underestimated anymore.

“She will definitely like it. Carol likes the color red like a blooming rose,” he says confidently.

Until suddenly, he heard the sound of high heels. The man smiled, he knew who was coming. He hurriedly lifted the mannequin to show the results of his hard work for one month with great hope, so that his existence was recognized by his wife who had been underestimating him. However, his steps stopped instantly when he saw the woman he loved embracing intimately, an unknown man. The man put down the mannequin slowly with his eyes fully rounded.

“We're divorced,” said a beautiful woman with long, wavy brown hair named Carol Kaye.

“Excuse me?” said the handsome man.

“Jacob, Jacob, Jacob. Besides being stupid, you're also deaf. You're an ignorant man and don't respect your wife's position. Let me explain your position here,” said an old woman who was none other than the owner of the magnificent residence, Mrs. Kaye. “You're just a servant. It was a stroke of luck that my late husband picked you up from the orphanage. But it was a big mistake to make you a son-in-law in this house! Your time is up,” she added with a cold face.

The man who worked as a waiter, gardener, cook and lately a tailor was left speechless. He was suddenly surrounded by the residents of the mansion, who stared at him fiercely. Judging from the situation, Jacob knew something bad was going to happen to him soon.

"Sign the divorce papers. You've become a parasite in the Kaye family!" shouted his father-in-law, Mr. Samuel Kaye as he presented the divorce papers.

"Pardon? Divorce papers?"

"We're tired of having to serve you!" snarled Kyle Kaye, Mrs. Kaye's daughter.

"Serving me? B-but, what happened was─"

"Shut up! You have no manners! Did you forget about rule number 8 that I imposed on you, ha?" asked Mrs. Kaye sternly looking at Jacob sharply.

Jacob looked surprised, but then stood up straight. "No interrupting the speech of Kaye family members without exception," he replied, "however, I am a member of the Kaye family. I am the son-in-law of Mr. Samuel and Mrs. Samantha."

"Shut up! We let you live in this place because my mother was a generous, loving person. You're allowed to enjoy all the luxuries we've provided so far with rooms and other facilities. You, being a servant because you can't pay for the things you get for free," Samuel's sister Kyle said as she walked away.

Jacob was stunned. In fact, he was living in a room that used to be a warehouse. The clothes he wore were second-hand from the men in the Kaye family. He became a servant and was forced to do many things. In return, Jacob was made a son-in-law, but never shared a room with his wife.

"I love Carol!" Jacob yelled.

"You're disgusting!" shouted Carol angrily and threw away the ring she had taken from her bag.

The ring rolled on the shiny marble floor. Jacob quickly crouched down and picked it up. However, the man named Diablo took advantage of this by stepping on Jacob's back head so that the handsome face was stuck to the floor.

"Hey, useless person. You're just a servant, not a family member. Everyone in Rowbon town doesn't even know you exist. Let alone marry a beautiful and dignified woman like Carol from the Kaye family. Wake up from your dreams, poor thing. Your next life will be on the streets. The Kaye family will no longer take care of you," said the man embraced by his wife named Diablo Torres.

Jacob's breath caught. He was so angry. Everyone was laughing at him. All this time he had survived because he really loved his wife. However, seeing the woman he adored cheating on him with another man, Jacob's heart was hot. He could no longer stand being played with.

Jacob suddenly caught Diablo foot that stepped on his head with two hands, then pulled hard. Practically, Diablo fell down and hit his head hard on the floor. The Kaye family panicked when Jacob stood up and sat on the stomach of one of the wealthy businessmen in the town of Rowbon.

“Get rid of him!” Mrs. Kaye commanded. Immediately, Jacob was pulled strongly by Morris and Samuel. Jacob was strongly pushed away from Diablo. “You ignorant bastard! Who do you think you are to touch a Diablo Torres!” the old woman shouted with rage.

“Stop it!” shouted a woman in the distance.

“Stop defending him, Samantha! Dare you touch this beggar, I won't hesitate to kick you out too! You'll lose everything!” threatened Mrs. Kaye, which made Carol's mother immediately stop walking.

Jacob's breath caught as he stared at the group of people who wanted to remove him from the Kaye family. All this time, Mrs. Samantha had protected him. However, the good woman could no longer help because she had been threatened. Jacob knew his position and tried to convince Carol.

“You're going to regret this, Carol. There's not a single man in the world who loves you more than me,” Jacob said, but made everyone in the room laugh, except his mother-in-law.

“Oh, very sweet, Jacob. Do you think that with those words of yours, I'll melt down and not divorce you? What a fool. I agreed to marry you because of my grandfather. However, he has passed away. Oh, I'm so relieved and free that my suffering is finally over. Being married to you for one year was like being in hell for 1000 years,” Carol said with a fierce face.

“Are you pretending to love me?” asked Jacob, disappointed.

“Oh, please get that disgusting face away from me. I'm sick of it!” shouted Carol in disgust.

“Leave my house and never come back for any reason! Dare you touch my fence with one finger, I will not hesitate to bury you alive, Jacob,” Mrs. Kaye glared.

“You scum! Go and take all your rottenness away from the Kaye family!” shouted Mr. Morris as the son-in-law, husband of Kyle Kaye.

Jacob tried hard to hold back his anger because he had been lied to by the woman he loved sincerely. Jacob walked quickly away from the crowd that continued to insult him. He went to his room, which was at the end of the corridor near the food storage. Jacob tried to be strong because he had promised the late Mr. Kaye that he would not cry again after the funeral.

“They'll regret it, they'll regret it,” Jacob said encouragingly.

He quickly packed his things into a bag. Jacob closed the door even though it was unlocked. Until suddenly, a paper fell into the crack under the door. Jacob took it with his eyes fully rounded because the divorce papers were handed to him again. Jacob's heart was hot, crumpling the paper into a lump. He rushed out of the room to leave Kaye's house forever.

However, his steps stopped when he heard strange noises upstairs. Jacob rushed up the stairs and was followed by Samantha, who looked panicked. Sure enough, when Jacob had just stepped through the corridor to his wife's room, he heard a loud sigh. Carol was calling out the name of the man who had captured her heart. His anger peaked again. His feet stepped faster to the door of his wife's room. He pulled the door handle and pushed it. Jacob's eyes were wide open to see his wife making love to Diablo and both of them looked so passionate.

“I'm going to kill you both!” he shouted angrily and dropped his bag.

“Jacob, no!” screamed Mrs. Samantha as Jacob rushed in and beat Diablo until the man roared in pain. Carol was shocked and pulled back the blanket. Jacob lost his sanity. He beat the man's face until he was helpless.

“What's going on!” Carol's father asked, entering the room because he heard the commotion.

Jacob was shocked and rushed to get his bag. He ran out of the side door of Carol's room, which was connected to an empty room. He escaped the Kaye family's wrath by jumping from the window that had a metal staircase spinning up to the backyard. Jacob didn't sign the divorce papers because he didn't have time. The papers were left in Carol's room. Jacob descended the stairs without looking back and then ran fast leaving the Kaye house in the midst of heavy rain pouring down Rowbon town. Jacob, who didn't see that a car was stopped in front of him, crashed into it.

“You blind bastard! You ruined the Big Madam's car!” an angry man shouted and walked out without using an umbrella.

Jacob was stunned and stepped back.

“Blade!” called out a woman who appeared with a large man shading her.

“Sorry, Mrs. Emma. He ruined the paint of your car,” said the man with a drenched body.

The woman named Emma approached Jacob with a fierce face. Just as she was ready to slap him, the action stopped. Her eyes glanced at the snake-patterned ring worn by the unidentified man.

“So-sorry, Ma'am,” Jacob said and then hurried away at a fast pace because he was in a bad mood.

When Emma's bodyguards wanted to chase him, the cold-faced woman stopped Blade. Emma immediately took the cell phone in the bag and called someone.

“He's here. Hurry up and get here before I lose track of him again,” Emma said and hung up.

As Jacob was about to cross the street to find shelter, suddenly, a luxury sedan stopped right in front of him. His brow furrowed as a man dressed in executive attire smiled broadly at him.

“Is that you? I finally found you, the last descendant of Rodríguez. I'm sorry, Young Master, but … hurry up. It's not safe outside,” a man with a fused beard and mustache, looked like he was in his fifties. Jacob was led into a car in a drenched state.

“Sorry, Sir. You have the wrong person. I'm ... not Rodríguez. My name is Jacob Wyatt,” Jacob replied, staring intently at the unknown man.

“Yes, you're right. Jacob Wyatt Rodríguez. The sole heir of the Rodríguez family. Oh, this is like a dream, Sir. It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Ewald, at your service,” he said, extending his hand for a handshake. Jacob seemed reluctant to accept the handshake and chose to hug his bag. Ewald withdrew his hand and smiled again. “I know this is confusing. However, all you need to know is that I managed to secure the Rodríguez family assets worth 1 trillion and ready to be given to you. Don't worry, there are other assets,” he replied calmly, but left Jacob's mouth agape.
