04. The Doppel

The incident appears in the head like a roll of film that rotates once without the aid of a tool. From his point of view at that time, Zack saw from the top of the stairs how grandma fell and lay down there. In the end, the household assistant soon came out because he had heard a loud sound from outside the room.

But no matter how fast he moved, the grandmother still could not be saved.

Zack was still trying to persuade his mother that day with a face full of requests. "Yes, mom? Let's stay here, okay?" Zack feared what he saw would become real because he had a strange feeling about his grandmother that he couldn't shake off.

Zack was distraught at that time.

Hearing his nonstop whining, finally the father came closer, holding each of his son's shoulders and then looking at him intently. "Tomorrow, Dad still has to work, and you also have to go to school. Just postpone the stay to next week, okay?”

"But, I-"

"Dad, we promise to stay here next week," interrupted his father with a severe face.

Because he couldn't argue or do anything, Zack could only obey his parents, hoping that hopefully, until next week, his grandmother would still be fine so Zack could still see her figure. Hopefully, the glimpse he had seen earlier was just a mere hallucination. Even though the man had often experienced the same thing, he tried to ignore it again, and at that time, Zack could only rely on one hope.

But the one week promised by Father came faster with shocking news.

After only two days after their return, Zack's family returned to district two after hearing that their grandmother had been declared dead. Then as if that wasn't enough to shock the family's only child, the party from there informed that the cause of grandma's death was due to a fall from the stairs and she died on the spot.

At that time, Zack immediately cried with screams of despair when he heard the news, then shouted at his father and mother with the sentence, "Didn't I say that we have to stay the night! But why didn't mom and dad at that time want to listen?! See now what happened to grandma!” Zack was angry, even furious when he realized that at that moment he had failed to save his grandmother's life, and about the flashes, he had seen... all of that had happened for real.

From that day, Zack realized that his vision of someone's doppelganger would impact real life.

After spending a few days mourning his grandmother's death, Zack told his parents what he had seen about his grandmother's death and the genuine aftermath.

Something was confusing at the time about the response of mom and dad after Zack told them everything without missing anything. Zack thought they would be surprised, but instead of feeling that way, they calmed down and looked like they had predicted this would happen. However, Zack needed to be given a further explanation about their attitude.

There was only one explanation that Zack got at that time, namely the fact that he was different from other children. Dad says Zack is unique because he has the ability known as The Doppel. Then dad added that Zack had to be careful of that ability for the future; he couldn't just talk about his abilities to anyone. Also, he couldn't carelessly see what he shouldn't see. Zack agreed, he also didn't intend to reveal this ability to the world, so it was better for him to keep his mouth shut.

The father promised to tell the boy something at the end of the explanation. Later, he said. Zack will be notified when the time is up.

This incident finally became the beginning when Zack chose to limit any physical contact further when talking to other people, especially his friends—when he was still in elementary school, Zack still had friends because no one knew about this ability apart from him and also family. Limiting physical contact is also done because Zack's ability will always function if he is in contact with someone, especially in the hands.

If the touch lasts a long time, then Zack will be able to see clearly about his vision. However, Zack's vision will only dim if it only lasts for a while.

Zack is bright enough to adapt to this ability for two years. Zack understands more or less about this ability. For example, it's like he can control The Doppel's ability, or Zack can control whether he will see death or even restrain it.

Zack can also know that what seems unlikely will happen shortly, and he can't tell exactly when it will happen because Zack can't know either. However, what has been seen will happen. The way they died would be precisely as it appeared to him.

Can the destiny of death be changed? Because after this vision, there could be other ways to avoid or even stop death.

Of course, avoiding is something that can be done.

However, stopping it would be impossible because the fate of death will come again at a different time and way.

This is because the destiny of death is a decision that basically cannot be changed, is absolute and must happen. If we can change the pattern, a new variable will appear, which will later be bound again in the takfir line.

So, the rescue would be a waste.

However, even though he is quite capable of controlling the abilities he has, Zack still keeps his distance from the crowd because the man wants to close all access that might happen suddenly. And as a result of his self-limitation, Zack gets a lot of strange looks from his friends. Even as a teenager in grade 3 of junior high school, Zack became a victim of bullying because they thought men were anti-social. Zack, who never fought back when they hurt him, was a mistake he had made.

Just because he didn't want to see flashes of other people's deaths anymore, Zack, who chose to stay away from the crowd, became even more ostracized.
