He left Sophie as she sniffed and stared back at him.

"You scared us all", she chuckled and stood, "come and grab a bite", she said to him.

He nodded at her and she left.

He rushed again to the drawer and found what seemed like an empty journal. It looked new. Whoever bought amongst man and wife hasn't used it yet.

He took it out.

"Hopefully, If I sleep again and be awake from all of this", he said to himself.

Darting his eyes at the clock, it was simply 1:53pm. God! That's a long time before nighttime. What is he supposed to be doing?!!!

Well, he's going to act as Denzel to continue the story and hopefully time, so that time doesn't stop again and he can go home, back to his body.

He was definitely trashing that mirror and breaking it to pieces once he got back!

He sighed and stood and left the room. For the next couple of hours, he was going to be Denzel Williams.

He stepped out into the living room, the woman from before turned to him, "Denzel?"

"Mom", he smiled, "forgive me", he said.

"I got scared... Really scared", she whimpered.

"Come and eat", Sophie announced and they joined her at the table.

"You still have to go to the academy right?", He asked.

"I don't know", she shook her head, "I just lost my baby".

"We'd get to the bottom of this! We will", Sophie squeezed her hand.

.......

They were done eating and Sophie cleared the dishes. Mrs Johnson had to go back home to husband and relay the news about his daughter. They were going to trust the cops on this one.

Something like this hasn't happened in a long time. Crimson Brooks was a quiet little town known for peace which was disrupted many years ago ...say 25 years ago when a serial killer was on the loose.

The town was hell to live in back then. Lots of murder, robbery, rape but the cops did their best to calm the situation and the once deserted town had slowly returned to normalcy not until six years ago.

Slow disappearances began.

Mostly girls.

The most of them were tagged as runaways and while the others turned into cold cases as they were no traces of the person nor the person's corpse, but it was random and seldom.

Like once in four months.

But none like this... None like a dead body at the early hours of the morning in a long long time.

Seems like the cops are about to get pretty busy.

.

Sophie spent a few hours with Denzel before returning to her house.

It hadn't been long she settled in that the door bell rang. She sighed as she reluctantly dragged her body to the door and pulled it open.

"Oh.. officer", she pursed her lips.

"Ms. Harmsworth?"

"Yeah? How can I help you?", Sophie asked.

She did recognize the cop, he was the one who took them to the morgue.

"I just need to take a look around and ask a few questions about your friend, Tania", he spoke.

"Sure...come in", she gave way, ready to help.

He stepped in, darting his eyes to every corner of the room.

"Do you live alone?", He asked.

"Yeah. Pretty much", she nodded.

"No parents? Spouse?"

"Nope.. just me", she nodded.

"Okay...", He nodded and took out his little jotter again, "what time did Ms. Tania come to your home?"

"Well, we work together. Same hotel, so we came in together from work", Sophie answered.

"Time?"

"Say 7:37pm-ish", she wasn't quite sure, but she was certain they were home before 7:45 or even 8 sharp.

"You said Mr. Williams called you yeah? What time?"

"That was clearly around 8:45pm yeah", she answered and he kept jotting down.

"And what time did you say Ms. Tania leave your house?"

Sophie sighed. Memories refreshed and she began regretting last night yet again.

"She was with me till around 10pm", Sophie sighed.

"And you called her husband immediately?", He asked

Sophie paused as though she was contemplating on her answer, "yeah I did. But he didn't pick up", she muttered.

The cop stared at her for a few seconds before jotting down and closing his jotter.

"Well Ms. Harmsworth, that'd be all for now", he said, "I see a cam by the door...just above the door.. It works?"

"Uhhh... Yeah.. It uhhh.. it does". She nodded.

"Can I see the footage from last night?" He arched a brow.

"Yeah... Yeah sure", she had that installed when she got the apartment newly.

She got out her laptop where it was been connected and they played the footage.

Truly, they did come in from work together around 7:40pm and they were in till 9:57pm when Tania could be seen leaving the house but at 10:02pm, Sophie could be seen leaving the house as well.

"No... I called Denzel and he wasn't picking, so I wanted to go after her but it was pouring outside.. she would have probably taken a cab.. that's what I said to myself and went back in". Sophie explained immediately.

The cop stared at her squarely and smiled.

He returned his attention back to the screen, around 10:05pm, she was seen going back into the house, though she hesitated at the door.

"I really regret letting her out last night", Sophie shook her head.

The cop sighed and stood. He wasn't here for a cry party, but something clicked.

If she didn't actually go home to her husband or her mom's, maybe she tried returning to her friends.

"Can I see that one more time?" He stared into her eyes.

He could see her tense abit and now, he really wanted to take a look

"Sure", Sophie nodded, wiping her dry face with the back of her palm, completely oblivious of his plan.

He took the laptop and watch further, fast forwarding the video and truly at 12midnight. A car drove up her front porch and a man alighted with an umbrella.

"Who is he?"

Sophie stiffened.

"Ms. Harmsworth?"

"Just a friend", she said staring hard at the screen.

"You do live alone", the cop reminded her of her answer.

"And I just said.. he's a friend.. he has nothing to do with this".

The cop stood.

"Give me a name or I might as well take you in. You were the last person to have seen her anyway".

"Leave", her voice grew dark.

"Ms. Harmsworth", the cop stood up.

"Leave... Now...please", Sophie kept backing away till she turned and finally walked out.

"Ms. Harmsworth!!", He yelled and tried going after her.

He met her in the kitchen.

"Who is the man in the video?"

"Tania was way gone before he walked in, he has nothing to do with this", she fidgeted as she spoke.

"That is mine to figure out. What's his name?" He stood before her, but he didn't notice her palms tightening around the handle of the knife.

"Ms. Harmsworth..?"

She swung it.
