Chapter 101

It's been a week since Ryan was discharged from the hospital. Elena knew she had to resume work but didn't know if she could trust her neighbor, who happens to be her friend, to take care of Ryan.

Don't get her wrong. The neighborhood has a nice lady around her age, but after what happened with the caretaker, she didn't know if she could trust anyone with Ryan any more.

"Mummy!" Ryan yelled out, snapping her out of her train of thought.

She smiled, wiping off his mouth stained with jam.

Elena's eyes flickered at the wall clock, urging her to huff out a breath; she was already running late for work.

Heaving out a sigh, she hurriedly prepares Ryan's bag and the necessities she'll need at work before bolting out.

She stopped at the doorstep of Janet, contemplating whether to ring the doorbell or not. Mustering up enough courage, she pressed the button.
