“Wait, seriously? Your friend is still being treated,” Diana asked, doubt evident on her face.

Isaac laughed lightly. “He’s tough. So long as he has a gulp of breath in him, he won’t die.”

“Fuck.” Diana couldn’t stop herself from swearing.

Outside the interrogation room, Diana pointed inside and said, “Take my advice and give up. That guy is a habitual criminal. I’ve looked into him—he’s got three felonies. He won’t say a word!”

“Give me five minutes,” Isaac said coldly.

Seeing him ignore her words, she crossed her arms and smiled icily. “Five minutes? I don’t think you can get anything out of him even if you had ten.”

The door opened. A man in his thirties wearing an undershirt was resting his head on the table. When he looked up and saw Isaac and Diana, he snorted and put his head back down.

“Rudy Bates, raise your head. We have a few questions for you,” Diana shouted.
