A short while later Dalis left the Tower in a set of simple leather armour that Siara got for him, and Siara also retrieved her gauntlets, that covered most of her arm. Once they were ready they headed for the gates, it was the same as when they had arrived, dozens of trenches were dug into the ground, before and after the fences, bits of shrapnel and debris sat in the trenches like millions of little teeth waiting to devour their prey. Dalis could feel several unfriendly eyes land on him the moment he got within range of the guards at the gate, but he had nothing to worry about since Siara was with him, she even stepped in front of him in a protective manner. Dalis intended to enjoy the view of Siara from the back, but with her cloak wrapped around her, her curves were unfortunately hidden. ‘Humph,’ Dalis heard a soft snort inside his head, as they reached the gate, he wondered what Raylin meant by it, but he was distracted by the guards. “Open the gate,” Siara ordered as she ha
Siara paused as she bit on her lip with a thoughtful look in her eyes. “The 60-year war ended over 40 years ago, but after it ended the negative stigma of ‘mix-bloods’ remained,” Siara sighed. “At first ‘mix-bloods’ were perused, and their numbers dwindled, but not long after the concords between the united Conclave of Ozarah and the Imperial Empire of Saldea were reached,” “And Progress Island became the centre of the world in a way, it was to be the first nation where Ozarian’s and Saldean’s lived together,” “To cement the alliance my aunt Layla Selphira of the imperial family, and my uncle Sebastian Greyjoy were married and titled as the duke and duchess of The Chained Isle’s,” “Naturally such a union would breed more ‘mix-bloods’ and so it was up to my aunt and uncle to protect the rights of the mix-bloods and protect them from prosecution,” Siara explained. Dalis furrowed his brow, “They were unable to do it?!” he asked, but he could sense that there was a little more to the
District-16 was busier than Dalis expected, as he entered the rundown area, he spotted several other groups of people prowling the streets. The groups noticed as him and Siara as they combed through the empty streets, but they didn’t pay them much attention, they exchanged a simple nod of the head and moved on with their tasks. The two quickly made their way deeper into District-16, District-16 was the closest area to the stronghold, and currently their destination was the border area of District-16 and District-18, as they went in deeper there fewer and fewer people moving about. Dalis glanced at Siara’s gauntlets, “You going to swing around?” he asked and pointed at the buildings that were getting taller. “You won’t be able to keep up if I do that,” Siara replied with a cheeky grin. Dalis rolled his eyes and continued to lead the way through the streets, he started to slow down once they reached the deeper area, he came to abrupt halt and paused with a face full of concentratio
Time crept by quickly as Dalis and Siara slipped through the streets, they avoided any unnecessary battles and quickly reached a concrete lot with several storage warehouses. Dalis took the lead and guided Siara to one of the storage’s, the structure was mostly broken, and the insides looked as if they had been wiped clean. “When the settlement was established, we came here hoping to get some supplies but when our scouts arrived the entire place had been cleared out, we figured that it must have been one of the other factions so no one ever came back,” Siara explained as they walked passed empty shelves that reached the high roof of the structure. Dalis nodded it was time for him to state his story for the spy to hear, “I was trapped inside here for almost a year, there was plenty of food and drinks inside the container to keep me going for that time,” “When I got out of the container the entire place had been emptied out,” he announced in a loud tone. He reached an area in the b
Dalis opened his eye’s as he returned from his soul space, and not a moment too soon, because Siara returned and found him in his little hiding spot with ease. “What did you find?” Dalis asked noticing her concerned look. “You should see this for yourself,” Siara answered and grabbed him, a moment later he went zipping to the rooftop of the warehouse. Dalis didn’t need Siara to point him in the direction of the commotion, it was the first thing that came into sight the moment he reached the top. There was an entire swarm of creatures flying in the sky, “What are those?” Dalis asked, he could see the creature’s long wings that fluttered at breakneck speeds. “Dragonflies,” she answered and pointed to the bug at the lead of the swarm, her expression was serious. “That is a newly evolved Monstrous beast that has broken through to level 26,” she said as she felt the ripples of energy the bug released. Dalis was mesmerised by the sight, practically everything he saw was a new sight,
The dragonfly was about the length of Dalis’s torso, as it closed in on him he could feel the power its presence was releasing. He might have been larger than the creature, but he felt small before its wild gaze, its two massive eyes protruded from its head like two fat plates, giving it a near 360 degrees of vision. Dalis tightened his grip around the pummel of his sword, the blade hummed as it radiated a brilliant yellow light, he took a step forward and slashed, aiming to cut the dragonfly in half, as it zoomed into him. But as his blade came a hairs breath away from the dragonfly it flapped its second set of wings and came to an abrupt halt in the air, the blade went past it without causing a slight bit of harm. Then it spun, doing a full 360-degree spin on the spot and whipped its long body around. Dalis moved the sword in the nick of time to take the blow, but immediately he felt the force of blow pushing him back, the entire sword curved under strike as he stumbled back.
Dalis could think of a million activities that were fun, being chased by an angry swam of bugs did not make that list. All the more for a swarm of flying insects, it was practically impossible to get away from them, wherever they ran or tried to hide, there were always a few annoying scouts that managed to spot them and rekindle the chase. Dalis and Siara were buckled over, with their hands on their knees as they panted and tried to catch their breath during a short window of rest they managed to obtain. They were hiding inside an old store that used to have a series of glass panels in the front, though more than half of them were broken, as for the store it was completely empty, it had definitely been raid for its supplies at some point. Drops of sweat dripped from Dalis’s chin as he peeked outside, only to see at least fifty dragonflies hovering around, inspecting every little chip in the walls, as if they could hide in something so small. Dalis inched forward, just a small lit
Dalis pulled Siara, and they started to run as their pursuers raced through the few remaining glass panels of the shop. They ran through the shattered glass and back into the open, they skidded across the streets with the sound of crunching glass under their feet. They moved quickly and had to duck and dive repeatedly to avoid the bugs. At time’s Dalis pulled Siara along, and at time’s Siara took over, as they rounded a corner a dragonfly came hurtling directly at them. Dalis instantly reacted with a swing of his sword, he didn’t even have to think as his energy filled the blade, he didn’t waste time and allowed his super berserk state mana to play the lead. His blade passed through the bugs body, and they got up and raced forward.
