Dalis woke up to a dark and empty room, well dark by the standards of other races. It was a tiny room that had a single toilet for him to do his business and about enough space for him to curl up on the floor. There were no windows or lights, and the door was sealed shut not allowing even the slightest trace of light to pass through, ordinarily he would have found the situation amusing. Locking a person up in a dark and cramped space was seen as some type of punishment, the tiny and dark space did little to Dalis, but his real punishment was not knowing what had happened. He vaguely remembered what happened, he remembered the floor covered in Siara’s blood, then everything after that felt so distant, bits and pieces of Raylin taking over flashed before his eyes. He shut his eyes and felt his mind get sucked up into the soul space, when he entered he instantly spotted Raylin, but his face quickly paled after seeing Raylin’s condition. Raylin had always bore a sickly look since th
[Titles: User of Numbers (I)] The first change Dalis noticed was his title’s, he had received it on his first day in the settlement, User of Numbers was a very easy title to achieve, to his knowledge it was a perquisite to several sub-classes that involved any math. [Sub-Class: (Perform tasks and fulfil hidden requirements to acquire sub-classes)] [Lifestyle S/C:] [Profession S/C:] [Universal S/C: (Common) Ordinary Swordsman – Level 4 (0/500) - (expand/collapse) (Uncommon) Ordinary Energy Swordsman – Level 2 (0/600) - (expand/collapse) The second change was the sub-classes, he had earned, currently all the sub-classes he earned would fall under ‘Universal Sub-Classes’, that would change once he selected his main class at level 25. At that point sub-classes associated with his main class would fall under ‘Profession Sub-Classes’, as for ‘Lifestyle Sub-Classes’ they could be any sub class, Dalis could chose either of his current ones as a ‘Lifestyle Sub-Class’. But only one su
Layla watched as Dalis entered the room, she looked on with a stern expression as their eyes met, she could see the surprise in his eyes. “Siara, is she…” Dalis began to ask, his eyes quickly darted away to meet the ground. “My niece is in recovery, rest assured her condition is stable… for now,” Layla replied sternly, she could see the visible relief in Dalis’s body language the moment she spoke. “Take a seat,” she invited him to the seat that sat opposite her. Dalis shifted with discomfort and took his seat all the while he was doing his best to avoid looking at Layla. “May I know what this is about?” he asked, since Siara was alright he could guess that he was going to receive some punishment. “Look at me when you speak child,” Layla snapped at him in a hard yet motherly tone, she sounded like an angered mother, chastising a child’s actions. “Holy shit,” Dalis muttered with a twitch of his eye, her snappy tone almost got him to jump. Layla frowned, thinking his response to
Dalis winced as the intense light shone down on him, until just a moment ago the room was dark, but he could see everyone as they gathered in the stands. There were thirteen seats, 10 of which formed a circle, the other 3 stood further back, in those three seats was the duke, the duchess, and in the third seat Siara was supposed to be seated. But due to her condition she was absent from the trial, instead another woman sat her place, Dalis couldn’t be certain of the woman’s identity, but she did remind him of the girl he had seen Siara arguing with during the awakening. That was when the beam of light struck down and forced him to shut his eyes, after he blinked the light was no longer as intense, but due to the intense light that hit him it was hard to make out the details of the rest of the room. Dalis waited patiently as the room filled out, he could hear the numerous footsteps filling in, gradually each of the ten 10 seats were filled by the faction leaders, and behind each le
Ariana looked down with every intention to find any flaws in the story that could be used against him, she already had one in mind. “Dreamer would you confirm to everyone here that you are a first accord evolver?” she asked. Dalis frowned, “Would you explain what this has to do with the course of events?” he asked. Ariana didn’t seem too happy about it, but since he asked she had to give an explanation, “You were able to combat a second accord Monstrous beast, there have been rare cases of first accord evolvers being able to duel second accord Cruel beasts but as for Monstrous rank beasts you would have to be the first,” she stated calmly, she was certain that she caught him as someone who lied about his rank. Dalis already had an explanation ready for such a question, “I am of the first accord,” he answered. Ariana smiled as if victorious, as a murmur passed through the leaders, “For clarity of your strength would you be willing to disclose your level to the court?” she asked.
Dalis felt a strange sensation when he looked up at Ares Greyjoy, faction leader of the fighters, he had this naturally brutal air about him. He was thin and had this aged look about him that not even the rejuvenation brought by the Records could wash away, his eyes were black, but they bore a reddish burning effect, just by looking at him Dalis felt a bubble of heat and anger swelling up inside him. ‘Be careful of that man,’ Raylin’s voice came out in a warning tone, ‘He has chosen his lifestyle sub-class,’ he cautioned Dalis. Dalis’s eyes stilled as he came to understand that Ares simple aura was a product of his lifestyle sub-class, it was clear that the effects of the lifestyle sub-class were profound and did more than what equipping a sub-class could do. It practically changed his very existence, Dalis didn’t know if he met anyone else that chose their lifestyle sub-class as yet, after all the effects would be different depending on the type of sub-class a person choose. Eve
The entire court went silent after Sebastian’s shout, they could all see the anger in his eyes, and it was all the more present in Layla’s eyes. To speak in such a foul manner of mix-bloods was the same as insulting their late children, their youngest son might have committed a grave crime, but their eldest son and daughter were innocent of such affairs. Dorian paused and took a step back as he offered a light bow, “My apologies ‘Lady Duchess’ and ‘Your Dukeship’, it was insensitive of me to bring up such topics,” his tone was apologetic, but the eyes with which he looked at Dalis showed no apology at all. “Ahem,” Ares cleared his throat, it sounded like steel was grating on gravel, “I would like to make a motion to begin the first vote, to determine the life or death of Dreamer,” he stated. Dalis looked around seeing that no one opposed the idea he knew that it was time for the votes. There were a total of 13 seats, 10 were the faction leaders, the other 3 belonged to Sebastian,
Dalis stood up straight feeling much more confident, he had two votes for him and two against him all he need to do was wait for the five votes from Layla, Sebastian and Siara. He figured that his verdict was a done deal. “Casting the vote of Princess Siara is Maliah green,” Sebastian stated. Maliah stood up, “Princess Siara was adamant on her vote, that the life of Dreamer is to be spared,” she stated, giving Dalis his third positive vote. For the next vote Sebastian said nothing as Layla stood up, “With my first vote I vote for Dreamer to be spared,” Dalis furrowed his brow wondering why she didn’t cast both her votes at once, he learnt the reason in the next moment. “With my second vote, I vote to execute Dreamer,” Layla spoke firmly, and her hardened gaze was fixed on Dalis. Dalis had no idea what was going on all of a sudden, her votes made no sense, one to save him and the other to kill him, she might as well have abstained with both votes. He now had four votes for him
