ELEMENTALIA: Tale of the Elemental Guardians

Chapter 6: THE GREATEST GUARDIAN

The pixie started to fall but Joy caught her. They gave Roe almost all their food, but she didn’t like any of it.

"There! A fruit!" Roe said after seeing some fruits on the table. She flew on it then started eating an apple half her height.

"Roe, can we ask you something? What are these Guardians that you are saying a while ago?" Sarah said.

“The Guardians? They are powerful warriors who protect both the Human and Elementalia world!” she explained while chewing.

The triplets just looked at each other while Ian listened from afar.

After few minutes...

"Thank goodness you're all safe! Where's Ian?"

Their mother Mina quickly went back to the house after she saw that beam of light passing through the clouds.

"Princess Hannah! You are alive! I MISS YOU SO MUCH!" Roe suddenly appeared and hugged Mina on her cheeks.

"Roe? How did you get out of the book?" Mina asked.

"Ian released her from the Libreta," Joy answered.

"Ian?" Mina said, shocked. Then Mina saw Ian coming down the stairs, but he looked pissed off and didn’t even look at her.

"Mama, please tell us everything,” Sarah pleaded.

"I'm sorry if I hid so many things about your past, especially to you, Ian. I asked your sisters to keep your true identity a secret, about you being a half-fairy,” Mina said, holding her son’s hand. “I did it to protect all of you. I sealed your powers even before we knew what it was so you and your sisters could live normally.

"You see, your father Lu-an was once the greatest Elemental Guardian. I met him when he was young and before he started his quest on collecting all the Magical Amulets in Elementalia." She opened the Libreta where it showed an illustration which looked like a map.

"This is Elementalia, a world in a different dimension. All mythical creatures that you know, and those you do not, lives in here."

Then she flipped the book to a different page that depicted mysterious symbols.

"I remember those symbols! They are the symbols of each element that an Agimat have,” Joy said.

"You’re right, Joy. These amulets are called 'Mga Agimat ng Elementalia' because they are hidden all over Elementalia, guarded by powerful creatures. They each possess great power that allows their owner to control an element. These amulets also shapeshift as weapons base on their owner's capabilities. Only humans and Engkantao—half-humans half-engkanto—are able to use them.”

"If the owner of an Agimat has died, it would return to Elementalia except for the Amulet of Light,” Roe added. “This amulet would return to Elementalia only if the Diwata or Fairy that gave it to the human dies. That is why this is the only amulet that can be passed down through generations."

"If our father is the Greatest Guardian, he should've defeated those powerful creatures,” Peach said excitedly.

"Yes, you’re right! He is strong, smart, and a very kind person!" Roe said.

"Roe and I accompanied your father, and she had served as our guide,” Mina explained.

"Of course! Because I'm your mother's sidekick pixie, and even though she is the princess of Elementalia, she doesn't really know every location in our world!" Roe boasted.

"She is a princess?” Mina’s children exclaimed.

"Not just a princess! She is the Crown Princess, the next Queen of Elementalia. Well, she would have been if she didn't run away on her coronation day,” Roe explained.

"Let's not talk about it, Roe!" Mina ordered.

"Sorry, Pri—I mean, Mina."

Mina continued, “After your father collected the six Agimats, he returned to this world and I followed him. While I'm pregnant from the three of you, more and more evil creatures were attacking our village. Either they wanted to capture me and return to Elementalia, or they wanted to kill your father for bringing me to this world.”

"But your father defeated them all!" Roe added. She remembered that day too well.

"However, three days after your mother gave birth to Ian, many evil creatures attacked the village at once. They caused the very first eruption of Mt. Tataalwan, so all the villagers needed to escape. Your father asked me to protect the Libreta and find you all, then he went out and fought with the leader of the evil creatures."

"What happened after the battle? What happened to our father?" Sarah asked.

"I-I don't know. The whole village was on fire and I couldn’t find all of you. There was a huge explosion, so I used all my powers and protected the Libreta, but I was trapped inside the book for how many centuries!" Roe explained. Then she turned to Mina. “Anyway, how did you get to this era? Humans can't last more than 200 years even if you are a half-fairy.”

"I used the forbidden spell of time traveling,” Mina confessed.

"What? But that will consume half of your life energy and slowly drain your powers,” Roe said.

"I had to do it to save my children."

The siblings did not notice that they were crying while listening. Then they all hugged their mother so tightly. Roe joined them but hugged Ian's face instead.

Time passed so quickly they didn't notice it's already morning.

Mina asked them not to go to school, but they still insisted because they don't want to be absent just because of staying up too late.

Aside from being sleepy, they just spent the day normally. And knowing that their powers were back, they were careful not to use it accidentally. However, the effect of the sealing ritual still lingered. Their appearances were still the same, even though their powers were back, aside from Ian who still didn’t know his own power.

"When will I have my own power? I suffered a lot for not having my own shadow. It's so frustrating!" Ian growled while walking.

"Don't be like that! You will get your powers soon!" Suddenly, Roe appeared in front of him.

"Hey! What are you doing here? Hide! Hide in my bag!” Ian was panicking that people might notice Roe.

"Hahaha! Don't worry! Humans without an open third eye can't see me!" Roe said.

The pixie sometimes annoyed Ian because of her curiosity toward everything around her. She was now free, and the modern era was vastly different from the one she had came from.

From that day, Roe followed Ian wherever he goes.
