A pack of wolves, black in color, carefully surrounded their prey. They were Blackwolfs, an A tier magical beast native to the mainland. One on it's own was a challenge but not a big one, however those beasts never wondered alone, always hunting in big groups. When they find a prey they all surround it then bite and claw at it until it's dead. In that prospect they weren't so different from the other wolf like beasts. The thing is, Blackwolfs have the dark element. One that's so rare only a few beasts below the S tier have. Their special skill, Black Smoke, allowed them to teleport short distances.Black Smoke is the fastest movement skill to ever exist, after all it is instantaneous. But that said, only a few are capable of using such a skill efficiently, and mindless beasts don't have enough intelligence for such feat.A white glowing blade slashed through one of the Blackwolfs the moment it puffed into the spot it teleported to. The moment the next one appeared it also suffered t
"You're a Beastkin!!?" Drake exclaimed, face full of surprises. He then started looking Roland up and down through squinted eyes trying to figure out what part of his was beast like, however he couldn't find anything."Blue Giants resemble humans the most." Roland said. "We can change our size at will, but generally we look the same as humans. Oh! And our skin goes blue the bigger we get. Hence the blue in our names."Drake was stunned for a few seconds, but it all made sense. The tall guy knew a lot about Beastkin compared to the average person. "I would've never noticed if you didn't tell me." Drake said."Well, being able to blend in is the reason I get to leave the village." Roland replied. "I can use my powers to a certain extent without changing my size. Just like what would happen if a human eats a Blue Giant Soul. It just looks like having super strength. Anyways, back to the main topic."Drake stayed kept his silence, staring at his hands for a few seconds."Can we really b
Roland's village was a two weeks' trip from the Ouroboros kingdom. It wasn't that far, however the only route leading to it were filled with beasts at the higher ends of the A tier, like the Blackwolfs.Sensing no one around Drake let loose and took his andlger and frustration on the beasts. Even with the restrictions, the Starless Night Beast Soul was way more powerful than what he was used to and it took him a while to get used to it.The Souls he gathered were stored as he had no use for them. The restrictions prevented him from cultivating the Starless Night and unless he finds a new SS tier beast or higher it would be pointless to eat the Souls. He also had an enormous amount of Soul Essence put aside so that was another reason.Drake was frustrated by the fact that he had lost his Thundercloud soul. It was consumed to help his main Soul ascend to the next stage of evolution, however it still felt like a waste. S grade souls and higher are too valuable to be turned into simple So
The Blue Giants village is located deeper into the mainland, supposedly hidden between three mountains called the Volcanic Spikes which, as the name suggests, are three active volcanoes infested with S tier magical beasts.Getting there was difficult on its own but finding the entrance was borderline impossible. Apparently there is a magical barrier surrounding the village that prevents outsiders from getting close, causing them to walk in circles before leading them away if they survive the beasts. Since he is unable to bypass it Roland came to the realization that he is no longer considered a part of the village.Drake tried searching from the sky using his flight skill but in the end found nothing. After camping for two days he started to have doubts about the information his friend provided, after all it has been fifty years since he came here last. On the morning of the third day the two woke up sensing a presence. Looking at the miniature map in the corner of his vision Drake sa
When Roland woke up he was met with a messy sight. Drake was running around barely dodging the attacks of Grace and Megan. Noticing that he was up the boy started begging for help which led to the tall guy getting even more confused.Apparently the two woman were trying to force themselves on him and Drake wasn't about to let it happen. Though he would have no choice if they manage to catch him.Roland would've been in his place of not for his mother being around. After a few minutes she decided to put an end to it the the five of them sat down for some tea."Sorry about that, boy." Megan said as she slapped Drake on the shoulder. "It's not everyday that we meet a human male, let alone someone so handsome. We just got excited.""Aren't you two married?" Roland asked."Divorced." Grace said. "We can no longer bear children so we are finally free!"Turns out that in the Blue giant society the females have to get married early and bear at least three children before they get the right to
Grace and Megan returned a few hours later delivering some not so good news. Though the village chief has agreed to meet Roland and Drake, the two women said things didn't look good, and that it's most likely a trap. Many of the elders lost their temper whe they heard the news and demanded that they send a group to hunt the tall guy. Also, it seems that humans aren't welcomed into the village, however after the two women warned the chief about Drake not being just any human he was allowed in.The trip to the village took about two hours on foot. As they walked Drake began to notice shadows on the trees and behind the bushes. Many more of the village residents were coming to keep an eye on them. Soon enough they arrived at the gate and afte passing it Drake felt a change in the air."A magic zone?" Drake asked. "Not exactly." Grace said. "You see, our people have been living here for thousands of years. The Magical Essence we unconsciously release results in the atmosphere being comp
Once inside the large building, Lena and the other women stepped aside saying Drake and Roland must go on without them. After walking down a dark hallway the two arrived at a large hall brightly lit by spitfires scattered all around. Facing them was a man sitting on an alter covered in decorative mats. To his left and right were five older looking individuals dressed in peculiar clothes with faces covered in blue paint. The man at the center was the most noteworthy. He facial features told he was at least thirty, his body was toned with brown skin and milky muscles visible even from a distance. The clothes he wore looked like pieces of cloth wrapped around his lower half leaving him topless.Drake could feel a strong aura coming from him. The moment they entered the man's eyes locked on Roland with a glare that radiated hate and spite. "So you have returned, Roland." The man said.Standing at the center of the hall, Roland put his right fist against his left palm and bowed his head s
"... why would a human care for a Beaskin?" The chief asked, still holding his stance. "If you're after their Soul, wouldn't taking it when they're a child more beneficial? Why bother reviving them when they're already dead?""That's…" For a long moment, Drake didn't know how to answer that question. Why was he so adamant about reviving the little girl? In the first place, why was he so attached to her? Why did he care so much about her? He had only known the kid for a couple of weeks, they barely spoke a few words to each other. So why? Why does he feel so much pain just from remembering how he betrayed her trust. "I never knew anything about Beastkin before, not until I met her." As Drake spoke, the pressure he released began to die down and the grip on his sword relaxed. "To me, she was always just a kid I found in the forest."Drake wasn't a resident of this world and thus lacked the common sense those who where born here had. He never knew about the Beastkin and he never cared
