Chapter 48

A week later Drake finally reached the coast city of Deadsea. Unlike any settlements he had come by during his travel this one was by far the biggest, surrounded by a wall of stone instead of wood with buildings that seemed to be carved out of earth. Snow seemed to dissapear at some point leaving only wide green fields extending all the way to the stone walls.

At the far east over a giant hill stood the earl's castle. A majestic white building with a huge tower that overlooked the entire city.

Having taken a small detour in order to hunt, Drake emerged from a forest west to the main road leading to the city gate. Because of that it was only now that he noticed the long line of caravans waiting to get permission for entry.

"This will… definitely take a while…"

Just when he began to wonder why they had to force everyone into a single line he noticed that a second gate was open near the coast, though that one had a long line as well.

"Guess I have no choice."
