"Dad is behind getting vegetables to cook tonight, Mom," answered Mela.

"Oh, okay, you two continue chatting." Mela and Carlina nodded, but the middle-aged woman still watched her daughter's garden face.

"Mela, is there something strange about me?" Carlina asked.

"No Miss," replied Mela.

"Mela, I want to go to the bathroom," said Carlina.

"Come with me, Miss!" Carlina actually felt uncomfortable with her feet not wearing sandals, especially since the damp and black floor made her uncomfortable.
