Chapter 05
The Getaway HousekeeperCarter's POV:"But it appears odd, as a partial half of it is missing." He added, but his voice was mutilated by the turned dress he was bred to remove. As soon as she got Ricky's clothes, she went to the laundry and put the stained clothes on the basket.
It might be better for me to keep this key temporarily! You never know what this key might open." His way of speaking was tainted with intention.
He then placed the key in his side pocket and left Ricky, Sandra and Carter uncertain.
Lincoln, without a flaw, graciously turned his back around, but before he even dared to walk out and flee, I pulled his arm to rotate his body back to face us.
"Hey!" I halted Lincoln.
"You cannot take what my brother had-" I pulled my hand out of his pocket and tried to take the key from him. Lincoln slapped my hand, so I couldn't get the key out of his pocket.
"because that is his! He should be the one to keep it!"
"Hold it right there!" He grabbed my hand that was about to retrieve what he swiped from Ricky with a little bit of force and then pushed my hand out away from his pocket.
"Uh, Uh, Uh! No can do, mister!" Lincoln moved his left forefinger like a metronome.
"I like your fiery sense of spirit, young man! However," said Lincoln, then patted me on the head.
"I was searching for this key for a while. Did you not know?" He then shared and expressed his thoughts.
"No?" I responded with curiosity.
"Unfortunately it took me a lot of time to find this. But then you came, and your little boy found my long lost key!" He pointed out and acknowledge Ricky.
"And I am eternally grateful for that! That is why-" Lincoln approached Ricky, and he lowered his body and sat down as a frog just to fit his size.
At the same time, he laid his hand on his head and shook Ricky's hair. But despite everything, you can't deny that Lincoln is still taller even though he leans over Ricky.
"Thank you." He politely expressed his gratitude with a little smile over his face.
"For that, I shall give you a reward! How does that sound to you, Ricky?" He genuinely offered Ricky a bribe to gain his trust in the matter.
"Tell me whatever you wish I'll certainly give it to you, Anything." The polite and formal tone of his voice seemed to be adhered to by sweet honey.
"Yay! I want some ice cream! And a couple of flowers too!" Ricky shrilled with excitement.
"Hey, That's not fair! I saved my brother so I should have a reward too!" Sandra arrogantly demanded, whilst considering that she is supposed to be the oldest among us siblings, but deliberately revealing her immature and childish behavior.
In spite of everything, I always get a bad feeling about Lincoln. Something doesn't feel right about him. A strange and unworldly sense of feeling that I could not explain as I secretively observed him.
Aside from his jovial demeanor, his courteous speech, and his formal attire, a blithesome man who never seems to be sad or angry, there is something behind his underlying mask of wearing a smile on his face.
He even appeared in the garden just now as a phantom without feeling his presence.
I don't know if I was the only one who noticed Lincoln's impeccable gestures, but he was creeping me out the way he was trying to. Mom, Ricky or Sandra would have noticed right away.
Maybe it was just me thinking too much about his natural character?
Or perhaps that was just his way of being?
Well, I am not so sure.
And because of that, my doubtful concern for Lincoln led me to keep an eye on him.

The moon was in its full phase, round and shining amidst the dark sky. The light from the moon passed by the window of my room.
Not only did the moon shine, but so did the stars in the night sky. As I watched outside the window, I was fascinated by how beautiful they were in the sky.
I eventually finished decorating the new room I would spend the rest of my life in. My personal belongings have been stored in their respective locations.
My clothes were stored in the closet. Some were hooked with clips in hangers, while others were folded and laid out according to style and color.
My family photos were also hung on the wall, neatly placed whenever you wanted to look at them.
I had a spare photo of my family framed and placed on the small desk table next to the moon lamp that I had just bought before we moved into our house, where it was placed near my comfy bed.
My eyes were still wide open as I sat on the balcony, perched on a seat like a swing constructed from twigs of trees and vines suspended near the window.
I looked at the time for a second on an analog clock that was hanging on the wall, and it was three minutes before midnight.
I wasn't able to sleep. Apart from the fact that I had just finished the renovation of my new room, I was also thinking of Lincoln on purpose. I still couldn't move on from what he did to steal the key from Ricky. Until-
I suddenly heard a loud sound of the bell, and it appeared to come from the wellhouse that I had been before. I looked outside my window to see where the noise was coming from.
From the exact point where the hands of the clock were pointing, the bell rang, and up here in my room, on the third floor of the mansion, I happened to see Lincoln heading towards the garden which I had just visited this morning.
Even though the view was conceivably narrow from here, I could see in both of my eyes the key he was wearing around his neck like a pendant - the key he stole from Ricky. I rushed out of my room to go after Lincoln.
What was that guy even doing? And why did the bell spontaneously ringing out of the blue?

Chapter 06The Curious MindsCarter's POV: When I reached the garden, I hid on the side where there were large bushy leaves, so I would not be easily noticed. I carefully kept my distance as far as possible and restrained my steps to make no unnecessary noise of rustling on the ground. The rhythm of the bell was still strong and continual. It was making a noise, but as I was getting closer to the spot to take a look, it became deafening, and I could hear it even louder. I covered my ears, but it didn't serve any purpose. The sound continued to flutter through my eardrums. I just had to stand for it. I tried to look through the brush leaves to see what Lincoln intended to do. First, he pulled the key out of the lace that was around her neck. Second, he approached the edge of the well. He knelt and bent his body to match the height of the well wall.
Chapter 07Temporary OrdinaryCarter's POV:"Have you come across Lincoln? It looks like he wasn't here last night," Mom said after sipping her caramel latte.I made my way to the table where Sandra and Ricky were having breakfast."He never even said goodbye. If he was leaving or anything, he should have let us know."We turn our heads toward each other with a serious and thoughtful look, as if we were transmitting signals or messages that we could only understand. It was like our minds were united during these moments. We saw what happened yesterday evening."What have you three been up to?" Mom got skeptical. She placed her cup of coffee at the table, then began to narrow her eyes, and her gaze appeared to sting."It's nothing, mom," Ricky did his best to act normal, but I could see his nose begin to sweat as he repl
Chapter 08FallacyCarter's POV: "Mr. Wister!" Call from the professor. I did not realize the time that I slept in oblivion in my chair, waiting. I quickly raised my head, stood up and saw everyone looking at me, and they were all waiting for a response. "Present, Ma'am! Err... Sir," Most of the students laughed in derision at my error. I immediately removed my hood, unplugged my earphones and confronted the professor with vigilance. "How about you? If you were given a chance at a superpower, what would it be?" What? I do
Chapter 09Call for an AdventureCarter's POV: The minute I got off the bus, I ran and chased Lincoln. Upon my arrival, he vanished. He was not there and I was not able to find him or any trace of his existence. He just magically disappeared out of thin air like a bubble. Did he just teleport himself out to escape? Not only was it just to think about as a blink of an eye, but I'm certain it was Lincoln! First, he took Ricky's key that he found in the woods; second, he jumped into the well from the garden; and now this? Jeez, I no longer know what to think! I don't know what Lincoln was planni
Chapter 10The Siblings' SchemeCarter's POV: "The unknown awaits and its calling for us, so let's delve into the depths of the mystery, unfolding the secrets that lie beyond our sight. I reckon," she answered in a sinister and poetic tone. "Now that is what I call fun! We have a mission! Yipee!" said Ricky with a cheerful voice. He jumped hysterically, and his enthusiasm was greater than I imagined."Uh, What did you just say?" I was taken aback by the confusion."There's no denying that you're as curious as I am. You wouldn't let a day go by with no answers. Would you, Carter?" said Sandra. She then smirked, raised her left eyebrow towards me, indicating a sign to seek my concurrence with what she was trying to determine."What's going on up there? Come down for dinner, children!" Mother ca
Chapter 11Entering the World of Encrest Part I: The Magical WorldThird POV: Ricky and SandraThey found themselves on the cold ground. As they became aware, their minds were instantly filled with questions. They got up in the middle of a big sigil with unfamiliar scriptures around them. They observed that the naked room they were in appeared old and primitive. It had a medieval architectural design."Where are we?" amazed Ricky. While they were looking around the place, a short ray of sunlight touched the part of Sandra's pale brown eyes.Only a small quantity of light could pass through the allocated spaces which came from the mysterious black door.As they came near the door, they heard the murmur of the crowd making an indistinct noise.Ricky opened the door, and they were astounded by what they saw. A bustling crowd of foreign entities encompass
Chapter 12Entering the World of Encrest Part I: The Sky Harbor of SalnorThird POV: Ricky and SandraThe lady's plume of crimson hair was coiled and braided in two, with tiny red ribbons attached at the end.She was wearing vintage pilot goggles with sparkles in her silver eyes, her ears were as sharp and pointy as an elf, her skin was like fresh strawberries dipped in milk. Her lips were cherry red and plump, and she wore a long and thick copper gingerbread gown made of wool cloth with a tucker tucked into her flat chest. The woman stopped while she was looking at something in between."Hmm, Natousak gna abi, ta ilagu agm gnabiakak, egnat agm golib..."(Hmm, Round ears, exquisitely odd chimerical personalities, and an unprecedented sense of fashion...)The siblings gave a sudden blank expression and both of their brows rose. They looked at each other for a few sec
Chapter 13Entering the World of Encrest Part II: The Village of MirhanCarter's POV:I began to worry while Ricky and Sandra were engulfed by this blue flame and immediately disappeared. For the sake of my two most cherished siblings, I fought my fear. Trembling with trepidation, I ended up forcing myself into the old abandoned well.I can't stand around here doing nothing as if it never happened!I could see that the entrance over me was progressively diminishing. The light from above gradually diminished as I descended further down into the well.I felt the weight of the air. My lungs deprived of oxygen as the terrible odor of sewers entered my nose. I scarcely breathed, trying not to inhale the foul stench of poisoned air. When I reached the very end of the well, even though I couldn't see much of the floor I was stepping on, I felt the wet, spongy ground underneath the heels
