Mayor Carney was led into the precinct doors, his footsteps heavy and slow as he was led into the heart of the building.

The precinct was like a maze. It had many corridors and buildings with very harsh lights and concrete walls.

The atmosphere was intense and closed-in, making the mayor feel trapped and alone. A big man who was supposed to be the governor in less than 48 hours now felt like a tiny fish in a big cold ocean.

The cops positioned themselves on either side of the mayor as they took him to the interrogation room.

Mayor Carney was already thinking of some of his connections who could shield him from this mess of a situation. How could someone who was bound to be governor be held in chains?

It was absurd, to say the least. He turned towards one of the cops as they escorted him like a criminal.

“Hello, officer, can I have my phone back? I really need to make a phone call. At least, I have a right to do that don't I?”
