Alexander left the room with his phone, car keys, and hotel room keycard and went downstairs.

From the distance, he saw Tessa in her workstation, and knowing what he had done the night before, he smirked.

“Good morning Tessa” In a playful manner, he greeted the receptionist who seemed absent-minded, something that was out of character for her.

“Oh, Mr. Alexander. Good morning” she greeted back.

Alexander grimaced.

“That’s the first time. What? You didn’t notice me coming?” Alexander asked.

Tessa became embarrassed.

“Sorry about that sir, I was distracted is all”

Alexander raised a brow.

“You? Distracted? I didn’t think that was possible”

From all the multiple interactions he’d had with her, Tessa had shown herself to be very alert to her surroundings, but for a reason, she wasn’t today.

“Yeah, me neither. I was able to get this job because I have a high level of focus and awareness, especially when I’m in the place of business but this time I—“ she said then paused.
