SHUTTING DOWN

Alexander placed a hand on his stomach and chuckled.

“I could eat a whole cow from how much this thing is grumbling,” Alexander said and his stomach grumbled even more ferociously.

He covered his mouth and yawned, which was a sign of both fatigue and hunger.

“I was so focused on reading that I didn’t even notice how much time had passed and now I’m super hungry because of it,” he said as he patted his stomach like it was a child.

The reason why he was so hungry was because the act of reading causes brain activity to be more than usual, thereby increasing glucose usage, even though nothing strenuous was carried out.

The usage of glucose leads to a drop in blood sugar levels which in turn makes someone more hungry than their usual capacity.

This was why people oftentimes have a little snack to munch on when studying.
