Alexander closed the door, slammed it actually, then faced the entrance of Gustav’s emporium, which was the name of the popup shop where he wanted to buy the outfit.
He started his confident stride forward when suddenly, from behind him, he heard one of the car doors open.“Hmm?” Alexander grunted, quickly taking a halt in his march to the shop.He turned around, only to see that the driver had come out of the car.“What are you doing? Why are you outside?” Alexander asked.“What? Wait, did you think I was just going to allow you to go in there by yourself?” The driver said, smiling mischievously.Alexander shrugged “And why don’t you want to do that? Do I look like I need you to hold my hand as I go in or what?” He asked, frowning slightly. The driver locked the door, walked around the car, and met up with Alexander before saying “What if you run away?”Alexander grimaced, confused about the driver’s ridiculous statement.“What if you go in there and leave through the back door? You could just have wanted me to give you a free ride to this area, and now you’re trying to run away the moment I take my eyes off you, so no. I’m going to stick to you like glue, and I’m going to watch you try to keep your end of the deal, which I’m sure you are going to fail to do,” the driver said confidently.Alexander looked at the overconfident man standing in front of him, seeing that he still didn’t believe him after all the times he had made it clear with all his statements that he had a lot of money. In the end, Alexander smirked. He couldn’t wait to see the shock on the driver’s face when the man later realizes just how wrong he was, and so, if coming into the shop with Alexander meant that that would happen a lot sooner rather than later, then Alexander had no problem with him coming along.“Alright then. You’re free to do whatever you like, so follow me, and I’ll show you just who you’re dealing with. I hope you brushed your tongue before leaving your home this morning because you’re about to lick my shoe until every single piece of dirt is cleaned off,” Alexander said, then turned to face the entrance once more, stuffed his hands into his pockets, and started heading towards the shop. The driver followed behind, chuckling and thinking that there was no way Alexander had any money to his name. He was waiting to see the young multimillionaire fail, or so he thought. After walking a couple of steps, both Alexander and the driver finally got to the door and then Alexander, who was in front, pushed it open. Both men went in, and immediately, the driver became amazed by how luxurious the interior of the shop was. After gawking and drooling at the sight, the driver looked at Alexander, who wasn’t at all impressed and he frowned.“What? Are you going to pretend like this isn’t the most amazing sight you’ve ever seen in your life? I know your heart has been racing since after walking in here, so stop putting up an act” the driver said, sounding and looking annoyed by Alexander’s calm and collected demeanor.Alexander shrugged, “It’s cool, but I’ve seen better,” he said. The driver rolled his eyes, saying “Oh really? Where?”“That’s none of your business, so don’t bother trying to ask again,” Alexander said, shutting down any further questions about his past. After living in the Dove family mansion for years and accompanying his father when he went on errands for the family, Alexander had seen his share of very impressive places. Places that were way more impressive than the shop they were in, and so he wasn’t as amazed as the driver was.The driver had wanted to say something back but then was cut short when a very beautiful lady, wearing a navy blue pantsuit and a very welcoming and warm smile approached them.“Welcome to The Gustav Emporium, Sirs. The one-stop shop to get the right customers looking sharp and dapper for any high-class event. My name is Laura Preston, but you can just call me Laura. So, what can I help you look for?” Laura greeted, her hands clasped.“Yes, I would like to see your—“ Alexander said, but suddenly the driver cut him off, walking past him and intentionally bumping his shoulder. The driver went to stand between Alexander and Laura.“Excuse me sir, but the young mister was talking to me about—“ Laura said, looking confused and annoyed by what the driver just did but Alexander, who knew exactly why the man acted the way he did, gestured that she shouldn’t bother.Laura listened to Alexander and no longer addressed the improper behavior showcased by the driver’s rudeness.“This young man behind me is bragging about being able to afford clothes from this shop. I mean, look at him. Does he look like someone who’s able to do something that impressive? How ridiculous?” the driver said and then chuckled, wanting to make Laura laugh with him, but she was straight-faced the entire time.Feeling embarrassed, he cleared his throat.“Anyway, I know how much your clothes cost so for him to say something like that is just ridiculous and a straight-up lie,” the driver said, pointing at Alexander at his back with his thumb.Laura looked at Alexander and how calm the secret multimillionaire was and Alexander gave her a charming and confident smile. She blushed and smiled back, then looked at the driver.“I don’t know. Mr. Gustav told us to never judge a book by its cover, so anything is possible.” Laura said. The driver rolled his eyes and scoffed, saying “Whatever.”The driver cleared his throat and continued “Anyway, I felt insulted when he said he could buy clothes from you guys, which is something that even after working as an Uber driver for years now, I can’t do. I mean, I make okay money but with all that I can’t still afford the cheapest thing here”Alexander, from behind, crossed his arms and said cockily “Then you had better get a new job, or maybe the problem is just you.”Immediately after hearing his taunt, the driver looked at Alexander, glaring meanly, but then heard Laura giggle at what Alexander said. The driver, who was trying to impress Laura because of how good-looking she was, became even more annoyed that Alexander was unintentionally and effortlessly getting her on his side.“Let’s see how much more your mouth runs after I do this,” the driver said, smirked mischievously, then faced Laura once more.“The thing here is, the punk and I made a deal, and if he’s able to spend fifty thousand dollars and upwards of seventy thousand to buy a three-piece suit and a pair of shoes from you guys, then not only will I drive him anywhere he needs to go buy I’ll also lick the dirt of his shoes”Laura’s eyes widened when she heard about the existence of such a deal. She looked at Alexander with concern on her face because, though she wanted to believe that he had money, the way he looked with the dirt and blood on his rumpled uniform wasn’t very encouraging. However, Alexander’s nonchalant demeanor gave her a little change of mind.“Sir, are you sure you agree to this deal?” Laura asked, and after looking around the shop for a few seconds and then staring back at her, the young multimillionaire shrugged.“Don’t worry about me. Everything is fine,” Alexander said, sounding very relaxed and making her feel assured that he wasn’t going to lose the bet.“You see. Such a two-faced liar, this kid is. As if any of us grownups would believe that you have a penny to your name. Even if you try to overcompensate by acting confident, the truth will soon prevail” the driver taunted, but Alexander couldn't care less.He knew the truth and soon so would the two in front of him.Alexander said “No use standing around and talking any further. Laura, please take us to your most expensive collection and make sure it’s something that’ll make me look like I belong to the high-class gambling world.” The driver, who still thought that Alexander was lying, smirked while Laura bowed her head in respect. “As you wish, sir. Please come this way” she said, and took the lead. All three of them went to a special area in the shop. A place that most customers have never been to because they couldn’t afford the price of the outfits there. This place was meant for the eyes of the top percentile of people in the entire country and being brought there meant that Laura had a feeling that Alexander was among those people. They all stood in front of a unique wardrobe.“What I’m about to show the two of you Sirs is a design specifically made by Mr. Gustav for a special client of his. Unfortunately, after all the work he put in, the client not only didn’t like the color, but he als
“What the hell are you doing?! How dare you slap me?!” The driver yelled, glaring at Laura while she crossed her arms.“Sorry sir, but this store has a no-touch policy for the things in this part of the building. The only way you are allowed to touch is if you can afford what you’re about to touch, because touching effectively means that you’ve bought it and, from the statement you made earlier, you definitely cannot afford this or anything else in this shop” Frowning, the driver looked at Alexander who was sliding his palm along the body of the suit and trousers and he grumbled.“But what about him?! You allowed the punk to touch it but not me?!” The driver barked.Laura momentarily looked at Alexander from over her shoulder, then she returned her gaze to the driver in front of her.“I allowed the Sir to touch it because he seemed interested in wanting to buy it” she replied.“But he can’t afford it. I mean, look at him! He’s a loser with no money to his name!” The driver retorted.
“What?!” The driver exclaimed “What do you mean the transfer was successful?! No way that’s real! You know what? Let me get a good look at that?”The driver swiftly grabbed Alexander’s phone from his hand and peered at the message.“Your transfer of three hundred and seventy thousand dollars was successful?” He read, looking and sounding extremely shocked. After staring at the evidence for some seconds and having no way to refute it, the driver became angry. He didn’t want to believe what was in front of his eyes.“No! This can’t be real! This punk must have faked this and I can prove it! This is definitely not the real bank app and this message is fake, so all I have to do is go off of this page and—huh?” The driver said, swiping up on Alexander’s phone screen and going to the minimized page where all the apps that had been opened were lined up.He saw the icon, hovering above the top left of the page he had just minimized and, indeed, it was the Martel Green Bank app that was open.
Alexander furrowed his eyebrows and tilted his head.“What do you mean by 'you allow me to be the first to see the suit because of how I look'? This driver saw the same thing you did and belittled me, but you did the complete opposite. Why?” Alexander asked.“Like I said earlier, one should never judge a book by its cover, sir. Mr. Gustav explicitly taught all his workers that lesson, but to answer your question, seeing you reminded me a lot of the client Mr. Gustav made the outfit for”, Laura said.Alexander pointed at his chest, surprised to hear what Laura had just told him.“I do?” He askedShe nodded.“That’s right. According to Mr. Gustav, when he and the client first met, he looked like someone everyone would overlook, not knowing how important he was, and what’s funny is that after him, Mr. Gustav met another valuable client who gave him the same aura. Those two made Mr. Gustav to understand that you really can’t judge a book by its cover and when I saw you, I felt the same th
Just like at the Gustav Emporium, both men came out of the car and headed into the jewelry store. This time, however, Alexander was the one who told the driver to come with him because he didn’t want to leave the man alone and risk him driving away to avoid carrying out his part of the deal. Not that it mattered now that Alexander had been given the new clause feature in his system.Because of how powerful the system was, no matter where the driver goes to hide from taking up his side of the deal, Alexander could still take whatever possession he wanted from him. With that assurance, Alexander only told the driver once to go into the jewelry shop with him and the man did as told. The reason for this is that now that the man knew just how rich Alexander was, and money also equating to power, the driver felt powerless to challenge Alexander.Alexander had completely conquered the driver, and he didn’t even have to do much except spend his own money to buy something he wanted. The syste
Unfortunately, his antics of wanting to scare Alexander were to no avail. Instead, the young man glared back at him.“I was standing here when you three came, so either wait your turn or go somewhere else. As you can see, there are other salespeople with their eyes on you. I’m not a mind reader, but clearly they want you to go meet them”, Alexander said. Jerry placed his hand on Alexander’s shoulder, trying to assert himself. The only thing he could try and intimidate Alexander with was his muscles, as their heights were almost the same. However, because of the system, that could change with time.Jerry said “Listen here, brat. The boss doesn’t wait, especially for someone like you, so this is the second and last warning you’re ever going to get from me. Go home now, or I’ll make you regret ever standing in the boss’s way.”Alexander looked at Jerry’s hand on his shoulder, then he looked at Jerry. “Let me tell you this instead. Get your hand off me if you know what’s good for you or
Chapter 18Jerry dropped to the floor like a rag doll and everyone looked at Alexander with shock.“What the hell? Did that punk really just do that?” The gentleman said.He looked at Jerry on the floor and said “I can’t believe this bastard lost to a kid. How embarrassing.”He palmed his face.“Now, because he affiliated with me, I’ve also been embarrassed. Looks like I’ll fire the idiot when he wakes up, but I guess the time for that was coming anyway” he said, making sure Stacy heard because he wanted to impress her.He looked at Jeff and said “What are you doing just standing there? Take care of the brat and don’t disappoint me like your friend just did, or I’ll fire you too. I pay good money for your asses, but this is the nonsense I get in return. What a joke”Jeff nodded and stepped forward.“You’ve made a really big mistake, kid. Jerry went easy on you and that was an error on his part. I on the other hand, don’t care about just beating you up. I’ll make sure I send you to the
Allen grimaced.“What are you talking about? You asked me my name, and I was about to say it, but you cut me off before I could finish. You acted like you knew and were expecting me, so I thought nothing of it because this is my first time visiting my uncle, so in my mind he had told everyone about my coming”, Allen said, then looked at his uncle.“Uncle, what’s wrong with your staff? I thought she was good-looking, which is why I wanted to talk to her, but I didn’t know she was crazy”, Allen said. Stacy pulled away from Allen, saying “I’m not crazy.”She took a second to regain her bearings and come to terms with the fact that she had made a massive mistake, confusing Allen with Alexander.Once she had gotten herself, she cleared her throat.“Anyway, it doesn’t matter. What we should focus on is the fact that this bastard came into the store and caused a nuisance when we were expecting a very important customer. I was about to call the police to come pick him up, so I’ll just go ahe
