Mary opened the bathroom door for Alexander, revealing what the room he was supposed to freshen up looked like“Here you go, Alexander.” Mary said, gesturing at the inside of the bathroom “I know it’s smaller than what someone like you is used to but I hope you don’t mind it that much”Because of the fact that Alexander, without a second thought, was able to give her fifty thousand dollars for her granddaughter’s ransom and also return her granddaughter to her in a luxurious sports car, her impression of him cemented on the idea that he was from a very wealthy family. As such, it meant that the bathroom he was accustomed to using was massive— at least three times the size of hers— and well-designed, unlike hers which was nothing special. Now, though she was wrong about thinking that Alexander was from a rich family, her assumption of the type of bathroom he was used to wasn’t wrong because the Dove family servants had rooms and bathrooms better than most people in the general public.
Once the door closed, Alexander took a deep breath and, for the first time, he realized just how nice the fragrance of the guest bathroom was.“Whatever air conditioner she used, it must have been made from lemongrass essence or something” Alexander commented, liking what he smelled. He looked at the left wall and grabbed the hanger from it.Alexander took his clothes off and then arranged them properly on the hanger. The only thing he refused to add to the hanger was his boxer briefs. He couldn’t have Mary washing those for him as even though the woman was an elderly lady and a mother figure, it still felt embarrassing. He also couldn’t wear them again without first washing them after all he’s done, so he had only one option left.He was going to wash them himself.Next, Alexander grabbed the towel from the wall and wrapped it around his waist, covering his nakedness because what he was about to do was a bit risky. He opened the bathroom door slightly and kept the hanger of clothes
The aroma of the food Mary was making was what Alexander followed and went to the dining room because the kitchen was just beside it.Now, he would have continued to follow it to the kitchen, but, because it wasn’t his house, he didn’t want to feel like he was overstepping his boundaries. People’s kitchens were usually considered private areas where permission needed to be requested and granted first before entering, especially when the person who wanted to go in was a first-time guest.Alexander looked down at the wrung boxer briefs in his hand then he looked at the kitchen and said “Aunty Mary, can you please direct me to the clothes dryer?”“Sure thing,” the elderly woman said as she came to where Alexander was standing, wearing an apron and holding a rag used to hold pots when they got too hot.The elderly woman gave Alexander the directions to the basement.“Thank you,” he said then followed the direction and when he got closer, he started to hear the sound of the washing machin
When Alexander woke up, he was confused about what he should do next. He wasn’t worried about the basic daily activities or the activities on his to-do list, but rather the moves that would further his goal for revenge.Thoughts on that very matter plagued him all night before he slept and then continued after he woke up. However, that changed when he got the intellect skill and increased it with stat points. His brain was firing, thinking of multiple things at once and the moment he took his second fork of spaghetti and saw Blessing sitting at the opposite side of the table from him, he knew just what to do.“What’s there to talk about? A college entrance exam is what you write when you want to apply to a—“ Blessing said but Alexander cut her off.“I know what a college entrance exam is,” he said and Blessing grimaced.“If you do then what the hell are you asking me—?!” “Manners!” Mary yelled, cutting the rude girl off.She smiled awkwardly, saying “Sorry about that Grandma”Mary gr
Alexander was stunned. He never expected that something he said with innocent intentions would result in the emotional outburst that Blessing just displayed.“Please excuse me for a moment Alexander. Let me get a mop and clean this” Mary stood up then left the dining room to go get what she needed.Turns out that when Blessing stood up and angrily left the dining room, she had, by accident, knocked her glass of water from the table, spilling its liquid contents all over the floor. Not only that, but the cup had even shattered on impact with the floor, making that spot very dangerous for unprotected feet and as such in urgent need of proper cleaning.“I’ll just clean this and—“ Mary said as she returned to the dining room with not just the mop but a broom and dustpan as well. She, however, froze when to her surprise she saw Alexander picking the broken pieces of glass on the floor.Mary dropped the mop, broom, and dustpan then rushed to Alexander’s side as fast as her hurting back wou
While he remained sitting, Alexander looked around the moderately sized dining room and then he did the same for the adjoining living room, saying “Earlier you said that you weren’t the richest people in the world which I’m taking as an exaggerated nod to how humble your financial status is, but the fact that this entire house belongs to you and you were able to enroll Blessing into the school she’s about to graduate from says a lot”Though Blessing’s high school wasn’t at the level of or as prestigious as Coker Wake High School, it was still amongst the top-rated high schools in its level and since that was the case, it meant that the school fees and overall expenses were quite high. What Alexander was trying to get at was that Mary had to be at a certain level of financial stability to be able to afford the house she and her granddaughter were living in, as well as fund Blessing’s academic lifestyle.Did that come with some sacrifices on the eighteen-year-old girl’s part that others
“Wow! I never would have imagined all that just by looking at you. But, now that I think about it, your character does fall in line with someone who had a past like yours” Mary said, cleaning the tears that had formed around her eyes. For a woman her age who, also, had most likely gone through her share of trauma, to feel as badly as she did for Alexander really says a lot.Alexander furrowed his eyebrows and tilted his head in confusion.“What do you mean?” He asked.“I don’t want to throw all rich people under the bus because I’m sure there are some out there who are nice people— take you for example.” She gestures at Alexander. On the other hand, the young multimillionaire furrowed his eyebrows, wondering where she was going with her statement.“You are rich now and you’ve done so much for me and Blessing that we can never repay you for. So, going back to what I was saying, there could be some rich people who were born into their wealth but who are like you—”Alexander interrupted
“Can I take care of all of Blessing’s academic expenses moving forward?” Alexander asked.Hearing this bold statement from the stairs, Blessing’s eyes widened. No matter how many times it resounded inside her ears, she couldn’t believe the words that just came out of the young multimillionaire’s mouth. Not knowing what else to do, she started chuckling in silence.“No way he meant what he just said. There’s just no way” she mumbled, doubling down on her doubts, but then, blinking her eyes rapidly when she thought more on it.“But what if he’s being honest? I mean, what reason would he have to lie to grandma about something as serious as this? He wouldn’t lie, right?” She asked herself. After everything she’d witnessed Alexander do, Blessing started to doubt that he was someone who would lie and as a result began to doubt her own doubt.Back in the dining room, Mary was stunned speechless by the bold statement from Alexander.“I think my old age is really starting to catch up with me a
