At the police station Dante sat in the interrogation room with handcuffed hands on the table, detective Kelly walked in and sat opposite him.
"Dante, there is are missing art pieces that cost billions of dollars, a dead co-worker and witnesses that claims you are involved in this, care to explain?"
Dante was in shock and disbelief that they were accusing him of a crime he didn't commit.
"I didn't kill Jean, I was only trying to stop the masked men"
"Nice story Dante, witnesses say you were struggling with one of the assailants, the gun went off and your friend ended up dead" Detective Kelly leaned in searching Dante eyes for a sign of deception "That is a lot of bad luck for someone trying to stop a robbery"
"I had nothing to do with this, I don't even know those men?" Dante tried to explain
"Who said you did? Speaking of knowing, since you mentioned it. Those men who don't work in the gallery knew the passcode which only you and the other workers at the gallery knows"
"There are about thirty-eight staffs that knows about the passcode" Dante replied with a confused face, what point was the detective trying to make.
"What singles you is the text message you received right after the heist"
Detective Kelly showed him the text and Dante read it with unbelievable eyes
“It was good working with you, you would get rewarded heavily on a condition and that is if you don’t reveal our identity to the authority”
"I swear, I don't know who sent me that text"
"Yes, that is because is anonymous"
"We found your fingerprint on the gun and by the way why didn't you call the police?"
"I tried to, the network was jammed and the fingerprint? I have worked there for years, it is my job of course my prints are everywhere"
"So, is a coincidence? You just wanted to act the hero?"
"Look is unbelievable but I loved the gallery and my job, why would I destroy everything I have worked for?"
"You tell me, what was the last conversation you had with your friend Jean? The security footage outside the building picked a very interesting conversation that shows you don't love your job, what is your connection to those masked men?”
"I don't have any connection with them” Dante tried to choose his word carefully because he knew the detective was smart enough to make him say things he shouldn't
"We are not buying the innocent act, you are in deep, Dante give us the names of your accomplices and maybe we can work out something for you"
"I don't have any accomplice, you have to find those men and clear my name"
"Clear your name yourself by giving us a name"
"I have told you all I know"
"Aaah, I haven't told you all I know, your in-law's art piece is also missing from the gallery and your sister in-law gave it to you, the security camera showed that too, so now Dante was it your backup plan for someone to take it while you distracted others"
Just then Dante remembered the art piece, he kept in the safe room.
"Yes, Ellie gave it to me but- "
"They are pressing charges against you, that art piece is worth billions, tell me what you know and I am guaranteeing you immunity"
"I have told you, this is a setup. Yes, I had a conversation with Jean and I swear I was going to leave my job without hurting anyone. The masked men pointed the gun at my friend and I tried to stop them from firing the gun"
"Well then Dante, maybe I would be telling you good luck in jail soon" Detective Kelly stood to his feet
"I need a lawyer"
"Goodluck finding one" he smirked "No one wants to defend a guy accused of robbing his in-laws, killing his friend and stealing rare art pieces"
"I have a right to legal representation, you can't deny me that?" Dante face was crossed in confusion
"Sure, you have. No attorney is willing to take up this case, they know already you are guilty, there are evidences, you are a nobody to the society, prison is a place fit for you”

After the first interrogation, Dante was escorted to the prison detention center, where he would temporarily stay. About an hour later Dante was on a six by four dormitory bed sobbing as he mourned his dear brother, Jean. They have known each other since they were twelve years, in fact, Dante’s memory started from the orphanage when he was twelve, his foster father had told him that his real parents died in a fatal car accident and he sustained a brain injury that caused his amnesia.
“Hey 228” a prison guard shouted as he hit the iron cage door of Dante new prison room, Dante who was still getting used to being called a number sat up on the bed
“Your lawyer wants to speak with you” the police man said unlocking the iron prison door
“My lawyer?” Dante asked unbelievably because he knew that he haven’t hired a lawyer, his personal lawyer even didn’t want to handle the case.

Dante put the pay phone to his ear without saying a word, but he was curious who the lawyer could be
"Young master" a male voice sounded at the other end of the phone
Dante was confused and he didn’t reply
"Young master Rook Dante" the man said again even calling his name this time, but the thing is he didn’t get it correctly
"Hello attorney, my name is Dante Willow" Dante replied as the man on the phone let out a short laugh, to Dante nothing was funny anymore, life was not a joke to him, his brother was dead and he was now wearing an orange jumpsuit like a convict.
"Young master Rook Dante, I am not your Lawyer, It was only a scheme to talk to you"
"Where you the one that sent me that text?" Dante whispered furiously
"What text? We heard about what happened, so I was instructed to call you"
"Stop lying. You and your crew framed me up, making me look like the criminal, now you have the guts to call me to talk to me?"
"Young master Rook Dante, I didn't frame you-“
“Oh now you are trying to negotiate?”
“I am trying to help you. You are in a game and they want to put all the blames on you, close the case and you spend the rest of life in jail everybody forgets you exist"
"First, stop calling me young master rookie or whatever-Secondly do I look like a game character to you? I have a wife and daughters at home. I am innocent"
"First, you are my master, I pledged my loyalty to you years ago, secondly that is why I am calling you to help you out of the mess you already are in"
"Okay, I'm listening how can you help me out?" Dante heaved a sigh so he could end the conversation
"First thing first you need a lawyer to represent you, with the charges against you, this isn't a small case at all"
"I have a lawyer, thanks for your concern. Goodbye" Dante lied trying to end the conversation
"Dante Willomandra-you can trust me, My name's Howard, I have been your mother's subordinate even before your were born"
"My mother? I am an orphan” Dante chuckled “Find another person to play your prank with, you con artist"
"You are not an orphan, but the rightful heir by blood to the Wilomandra consortium, you have a tattoo on your chest”
“How did you-“
“The tattoo shows your rank in the Chess mob” the man interrupted Dante who was beyond shocked.
Willomandra consortium? Chess mob? What did that even mean?Dante knew he didn’t have any family aside from the foster home neither did he know how the tattoo got to his chest, his memory started when he was twelve years. "If this is not a prank, then you are certainly a soothsayer" Dante sucked his teeth "Well tell my imaginary mother I said hi" Dante laughed bitterly ignoring that the man had correctly stated the exact place he had a tattoo, which could be a coincidence "I know you wouldn't believe me now" Dante listened to the man blabbing as he rolled his eyes tiredly wishing the day could end already."I lost my parents in a car accident when I was twelve, so I believe you have the wrong Dante""That's not true, your memory was wiped by your mother and you were taken to the foster home, she left you with a wrist watch. The car accident was only a made up story she told the foster home to tell you as you grew up"Dante looked down at his wrist, but the wrist watch was not with h
“What?” Dante exclaimed the excitement in his face washing away to a surprised expression “Do you want me to read it to you?” Audrey couldn’t help but feel bad for him, her family treated him cruelly ever since they started dating. It was her personal decision to marry Dante because she loves him, but her family didn’t believe love could keep them together, they thought of Dante as simply a gold digger who wanted to attach himself to a wealthy family by marriage while bringing nothing to the table. The only instruction from her father she didn’t obey was marrying Dante, each and every passing day he reminds her how her life would have been better if she didn’t marry Dante.Thinking their marriage would go smoothly and she finally gets to prove to her family that Dante was a smart and nice guy, instead things went sour and harder for him, after dropping out from law school-because of her, he couldn’t get a decent high paying job and to make matter worst he was now spending time in jai
Audrey entered her car parked outside the prison “Yes, he signed the paper” she spoke over the phone “That’s my good daughter, now you have to finalized the divorce before I give you the land documents and then do the transfer of ownership to you” her father smiled to himself Then the call ended. Months ago, hours after Dante got arrested, Audrey flashed back to when she was getting ready to leave the house to drop the kids at their noon ballet school. It was her parents wedding Anniversary that day and the old man ended his party with the panic attack, and when he was fully recovered when he drank the milk Dante had instructed him he take, he still shouted on Ellie and Audrey. He sent them both on errands, Ellie to deliver the painting to north-way art gallery, Audrey to purchase his hypertension relive drugs, which she had gotten but stopped home after the rain to pick her daughters to school.A hard knock sounded on the front door, but she paid no attention because the house ke
Dante walked into the court room escorted by police men behind and in front of him. He was neatly shaved for the first time time in seven months, the first eyes that locked with his was Yara's-his lawyer, she looked unbothered but as usual beautiful. Dante was dying of anxiety as he waited for his final judgement, Yara was his last hope and she hadn’t promised him that the case would end favoring him. "Dante Willow, you have been accused of murder, robbery and to be in possession of art pieces worth billions of dollars. Let the court proceeding begin" the judge hit the table That was the day that Dante fate would be revealed after seven months of severing time in prison, his in-laws had waited for this day so much that even if they had their jobs to attend to on a Monday morning, they rather be at the court room to see Dante punished for stealing their most prized possession, even Natty and her husband left there country for the court case. It was also the day that the witnes
“My honor, every surveillance footage as stated earlier where compromised” Attorney Bryan spoke with an air of confidence in his voice However, Attorney Yara still holding the flash drive, not ready to back down or succumb to Attorney Bryan intimidating smirk. She sure knew what she was doing and just somehow, she hopped that it could help her client, she had seen Dante cried many times whenever she was speaking to him, he wanted nothing more than his freedom, to once again see his daughter. Yara walked forward to the judge, taking elegant stride and keeping her hope alive that the chief judge would swirl in the court case in a way that favors her side. Already she knew that he could have been bribed already but what were the odds, maybe good people still exists? "My honor please permit me to play the surveillance footage" Yara interrupted Bryan who was about speaking but because he didn't want to lose face, he arrogantly put his hands into the pocket of his suit trouser waiting t
Attorney Bryan’s ego was wounded by the unexpected defeat. Dante walked out of the court room a freeman after severing time in prison for seven months. As he walked to the car park with Attorney Yara beside him, reporters ran to him with microphones and cameras to hear him speak. “Mr. Dante how does it feel to be declared innocent by the law?” “Would you say is obstruction of justice by the prosecutors” Yara quickly grabbed Dante’s hand without any hesitation and led him to her Mercedes, she opened the door for Dante, he swiftly entered, the reporters followed behind them with flashing camera and microphones towards the car. “Mr. Dante tell the public your side of the story” Yara shut the car door cutting off the questions, she immediately walked to the driver seat, started the engine and zoomed off leaving the reporters. Inside the car, Dante was still surprised of his freedom, he had longed for months to finally be at his home. “Thank you, attorney Yara" “It’s the law, the i
“I don’t ask you to be rich, I just want you to be honest, how did you get the money in the brief case? Is it the profit from selling the art piece?”“I promise you Audrey this money is not from your family missing art piece, I have been saving this money for years now, I just need you to trust me”“Saving from your salary?” Audrey asked sarcastically “The police searched every damn place in this house while you were in prison and they didn’t see that briefcase, so where did it come from?”“I carefully hide it in the wardrobe with some cloth on it’ “Dante there are a lot you are not telling me. I want to believe you but I don’t know how to when you are not telling me everything I need to know”“Please trust me Audrey, this money is not from any illegal means”“My family art piece gets missing and suddenly you have a briefcase filled with money?”“I would explain everything to you and it would make sense but please for now just trust me”“You are not giving me reasons to believe you D
The men were skillfully watching at Dante, ordinarily he could have just given up and kneeled down to ghost, but Dante had a conviction that he could beat all the men hands down even though he hadn’t gotten into a fight before that he could remember. When Dante did not back down nor give in but instead he folded his fist to fight, the men attacked him one after the other. He gave the next man a blow to his stomach taking him off balance and punching the next on his nose bridge, Dante finished the remaining five men and they were unconscious on the floor. Ghost was surprised that his men where on the ground because of just one man, Dante Willow, he was suddenness scared and in an attempt to run away, he fell to the ground, and he managed to crawl, looking at Dante’s dangerous facial expression made him scared of what Dante could do to him “For your information, I didn’t kill Jean” Dante crouched down and punched ghost on his Jaw making him to grunt in pains like a weakling.
