When Laura had finished exchanging pleasantries with some business partners ma'am Miguel introduced her to, she glanced back and saw Feran walking off somewhere and Mark was glaring at him with hot eyes filled with loathe. She wondered what could possibly have happened between them.

"Let's go over to my table to have a brief discussion," ma'am Miguel proposed after waving at the last business partner of their company whom she sighted.

"Um, okay. After you, grandmother," Laura said. Ma'am Miguel walked ahead of her. They got to her table and sat down.

"Laura, you know, I've always been proud of you my dear. Even when your late grandfather rashly married you off to that worthless Feran, I still knew it won't hinder you from shining brighter than a star in the sky in the future. Now, I'm certain you'll do greater things for our company," ma'am Miguel said.

"I'm so glad to hear you say that, grandmother. I mean it," Laura said with a smile. She had despised her grandmother for a while
